BoxyCharm by Ipsy September 2025

Did Ipsy deliver on its "bold glam" promise?

This month, BoxyCharm by Ipsy came to play, leaning all the way into that “more is more” vibe. The whole theme is about turning up the volume with bold colors and just making beauty feel like a total treat. So, did it deliver on the promise? Let's get into it.

For a quick rundown, BoxyCharm by Ipsy is a $30 monthly beauty and makeup subscription. You always get a ton of value for your money, with five items spanning everything from skincare and makeup to haircare, fragrance, and more. (At least four of them are full-sized!) If you're a total makeup or skincare addict, trust me, this box is a must-have.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

First things first, I'm so happy everything arrived in one piece. I was a little worried since the box had a highlighter palette in it.

What’s Inside

Shades by Shan The Pore Diffusing Face Primer – Retail Value: $28

I'm a tough critic when it comes to primers, but I had to give this one a shot since it's silicone-free. My first thought? Okay, I'm into this. The formula is so lightweight, and seriously, one pump is all you need. It helps my foundation glide on so smoothly but still gives it that grip to last. I have a feeling this is going to be a long-time staple in my routine.

Would I Repurchase? Yes.

Shine Cosmetics Brow Wand – Retail Value: $20

Okay, so this has to be one of the weirdest brow pencils I've ever tried. The barrel is seriously huge, so you end up with this angled, thick pencil that's great for filling, but good luck getting any precise, hair-like strokes. The tip starts out sharp, but once it's gone, it's impossible to get that shape back. You're just left with a very chunky brow pencil, and that's not what I'm looking for.

Would I repurchase? No.

Korres Pure Greek Olive Body Cream Olive Blossom – Retail Value: $32

This was one of my picks and I was really excited for it. For some reason, I totally zoned out and ignored the “blossom” part of the name, because while the cream is heavenly thick and rich and absorbs like a dream, it leaves behind a floral scent that's... well, a little bit “grandma's house.” Not my favorite scent, to be honest. I was hoping for more of a fresh, herbal, or spa-like olive scent. But hey, it's a fantastic body moisturizer, so it's earned a permanent spot on my nightstand.

Would I repurchase? No.

Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil – Retail Value: $22

Shade: Wonder (rose mauve)

This was another one of my picks, because, duh. If you've read any of my reviews, you know I'm a total fiend for a good lip product. So when I saw this was an option, I had to pick it. The shade is gorgeous and gives your lips that perfect, natural hint of color. It feels super comfortable and lightweight on the lips. Once it dries down, you don't even feel it, but you still get that comfortable, hydrated feeling.

The one thing to know, though, is that the color isn't super long-wearing. So if you're trying to use it like a lipstick, don't… it'll be gone in an hour or so. But if you're looking for a lip oil with a hint of color and just something you can swipe on for an effortless look, this is a perfect daily go-to.

Would I repurchase? Yes.

TYS Brush Set – Retail Value: $48

Types: 00 Powder Brush / 01 Blush Brush

I've been needing some new brushes, so I was excited to get this set. The powder brush is incredibly soft and fluffy. It's fantastic for applying loose powder, and the bristles feel uber soft. The blush brush, on the other hand, is a little too small for my liking. It'll give you a super precise application, but for blush, I prefer a wider brush to get a more natural, diffused look. Plus, it already had some loose bristles right out of the box, which is not a great sign.

Would I repurchase? Perhaps.

Natasha Denona Golden Highlighter Trio – Retail Value: $55

In my never-ending quest for the perfect highlighter, I picked this as my Beauty Boost. Instant regret. The first shade is beautiful, but the other two just look like eyeshadows, not highlighters. The formula is creamy, and I didn't get a lot of fallout, which is a plus. But honestly, these just don't feel like they were designed to be highlighters. So, the highlighter hunt continues.

Would I repurchase? No.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $30

Value Breakdown: $150 + $55 Beauty Boost

First things first, let's just be honest: there's nothing about this box or the options that screams "bold glam."

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have gotten a couple of good finds—that primer and the Rare Beauty lip oil are solid—but besides that, my expectations fell a little flat.

I would've loved to see some bold lipsticks, maybe some killer eyeliners, metallic eyeshadows, or glitter. You know, stuff that actually fits the theme! Is it just me? I don't know about you, but a primer and a lip oil aren't exactly what I think of when I hear "bold glam."

You said the cost is $30, but isn’t it $32 plus an additional $15 for the Beauty Boost?
