Silk + Sonder August 2025
Summer vacation is already more than halfway over, and July flew by in the blink of an eye! Even though I don’t work during the summer, I’ve only been home for one full day this month—baseball and camps have completely taken over my schedule. With everything going on, my Silk + Sonder planner has been absolutely essential for staying organized. Without it, keeping up with all the chaos would be overwhelming!
Enchantment - The state of being captivated and delighted by the magic and beauty of life.
I love that Silk + Sonder selects a unique theme each month, and I really appreciate how thoughtfully Meha, the creator, chooses them. The theme for August is Enchantment—a perfect fit for a month full of schedule changes! I found it to be an ideal reminder to slow down and savor these last few weeks of vacation. Now, let’s get started!
One of my favorite things about Silk + Sonder is receiving a fresh planner each month. Starting over regularly has been incredibly helpful, yearly planners often leave me feeling overwhelmed. While this planner includes a year-at-a-glance spread, the calendar is too small to write in, but it's perfect for referencing future dates. At the start of each month, I fill in the calendar with any known events and then watch the days fly by! This month is off to a slow start, but with football season coming up, I’m sure it’ll fill up quickly—eek! Staying organized is a huge help in managing my anxiety, and having a quick-reference calendar at the front of the planner helps me stay grounded and keeps me from spiraling into panic.
On page 6, we open to a “Future Log,” which includes two small calendars for the upcoming months. There’s just enough space to jot down quick notes, so I typically don’t use this section much—but seeing September and October already is absolutely terrifying! 🤢 On the opposite page, there’s a blank sheet of graph paper, perfect for notes, lists, or anything else you need to jot down!
Page 8 offers space to reflect on the previous month, with sections to note your wins, challenges, and favorite moments. It’s a great way to evaluate what’s working and what’s not. This is one of my favorite pages because it highlights all the accomplishments of the month. There’s also a section to jot down things you want to start, stop, and continue. July was full of fun, successes, and naturally, a few challenges. My wins included a trip to the North Shore, a fun fishing contest, beading projects, and beautiful flowers. On the flip side, challenges included severe allergies for Hank, a packed schedule, and terrible, stormy weather that caused a lot of flooding in our area. Some of my favorite moments were the tractor pull, baseball tournaments, dinner dates, and volleyball. Overall, it was a fantastic month—and I’m a little sad it’s already over!

Next up is the Monthly Intentions page. I love this inclusion because it provides space to set goals for yourself and revisit them throughout the month. With six categories and six boxes to fill in, there’s plenty of room to jot things down. It’s not necessarily a to-do list, but more of a way to start the month with purpose and remind yourself of what you'd like to focus on. Honestly, we’ve been so busy wrapping up July that I haven’t even had a second to think about my August intentions, but I have a feeling they’ll end up being pretty similar to July’s. We’ll see how it goes… wish me luck!
As I mentioned above, this is more than just a planner, and these trackers are proof of that. Pages 10 and 11 offer a mood tracker and a habit tracker. We are given space to fill in our typical moods and track them throughout the month. This is great for identifying patterns, especially for me and my anxiety. I love that these trackers are customizable, allowing you to track exactly how you want in such a pretty way! Silk + Sonder typically ships a week and a half before the next month starts, so while I have created my "keys" for each of these trackers, I haven’t yet started tracking. I have a 5K to run in at the end of the month, so. I have some mega goals to hit!!
Page 12 features another tracker—this one for sleep. I don’t usually have trouble in this department, so I tend to skip it. The opposite page, however, is one of my favorites. Page 13 offers a Gratitude Jar, giving you unlimited space to jot down things you're grateful for each day. I love the jar concept because it lets me start early - I've even added a few items from July! I highly recommend this activity, even if you don’t have this particular planner!
This month’s theme is Enchantment, and on the next few pages, we’re greeted with two prompts and an Enchantment Log. These pages offer a generous amount of space to explore what the feeling of enchantment means to us, as well as to reflect on dreams that evoke that sense of wonder. While I’ve started filling it out, I feel this activity is better suited for a slow, lazy weekend morning—when there’s more time for deeper reflection.
I especially appreciate the Enchantment Log, which includes space to record 22 moments that bring us joy and wonder. Even though we’re still in July, today felt like a perfect example: our Monarch caterpillar “Mikey” transformed from his “J-hook” pose into a chrysalis! We’ve witnessed this process dozens of times over the years, but it never stops filling me with awe. 🦋
The next activity is one I’ve never seen before, but I absolutely loved it! While I haven’t filled out the "Manifestation" worksheet yet, I’ve definitely been using the concept all summer during my kiddos' baseball games. I’ve honestly found that if I say something like, “He’s going to hit a triple,” it has come true more often than not! While I personally believe God has more to do with it than me actually manifesting anything, saying those hopes out loud—whether as a prayer or intention—has been pretty awe-inspiring. Just ask my dad—he’s the one who has to put up with all my loud declarations! 🤣 On the opposing side we received a beautifully decorated, lovely poem written by Walter De La Mare.
The next page features a beautiful floral and foliage coloring design. While I haven’t had much time to color, I did pull out some watercolor pens to try on it in the coming days! On the opposite page, there’s a "My Favorites" section, where we answer questions about our favorite things. I jotted down a few, but left some blank to reflect on more in the coming weeks.
Every Silk + Sonder journal includes a recipe, and this month’s featured dish called for ingredients I didn’t have on hand—which is usually the case with these recipes. If you happened to have the ingredients, how did the Greek meatballs turn out? Let me know if you tried it! On the opposite page, there’s an "Ikigai" activity, where you explore your “reason for being.” With four sections to fill in—passion, mission, vocation, and profession—you jot down ideas that apply to each area to get closer to discovering your ikigai. I haven’t started yet, but I’ve definitely got some ideas brewing!
Blank sheets are always helpful and a great place to do some long division, write notes, and jot down addresses!
Each month, we get some kind of mind puzzle, and this time it was Sudoku. I usually enjoy these, but this one was really tough! I haven’t gotten very far, but I’m hoping to figure out a few more numbers in August. I think I figured out the riddle—did anyone else come up with “a table”? Sometimes I totally overthink those things! 😅
On the opposite page is an expense tracker. While it’s a great feature, I don’t personally use it since I track my expenses in a Google Doc instead. As always—use this journal in whatever way works best for you!
I love the fact that this journal always starts on a Monday, even if that means it starts the month prior. Here you can see Monday is the 28th of July, and I am ready to take on the week. As far as this journal as a whole goes, I tend to put most of my time into these calendar pages. With sections for meal plans, to-dos, habits and activities, shopping lists, and specific day sections, I write everything here. It keeps me on schedule for each day and feeling accomplished, and there is NOTHING more satisfying than crossing out an item on my list. I also appreciate the extras these sheets have - while I sometimes don't fill out how I want to feel each week, this week I found it helpful to write it down and pray over it. This journal is just so darn helpful!!
Tidying up with one last quote, the dictionary definition of "Sonder," and the back cover, that's all there is to it. I have come to find that a key part of my day is when I sit and fill out my planner with my cup of coffee. This quiet time happens before the kids are awake, and kicks my day off to a good start before I start my school day. It is extremely important for me to keep a consistent schedule for managing my anxiety and creating much more positive life, and this journal definitely is a big help in that.
The Verdict
I hate how fast summer flies, but we have managed to pack in a gazillion opportunities to these few shorts months, making it unforgettable! This past month was a little more chaotic than I was expecting, and I am ready to settle into August. Though I'm not working, our baseball schedule and soon to be football schedule is chaotic and Silk + Sonder has become a necessity and without this planner, I'd definitely be lost (as would my husband!) I continue to be impressed with this subscription, and can't wait to see what's in store for September.
I typically tend to allocate about 15-20 minutes a day to this journal and flip from front to back reflecting, adding to, and processing what I have previously written. By the end of the month, my brain feels much more organized and stable. The beauty of this planner is remarkable, and the packable size means I can tote it around in my purse. Being extremely impressed with all aspects, I am really looking forward to discovering more about myself, all while staying organized and offering myself a little daily quiet time and important self-care.
