Silk + Sonder June 2025
We only have two days of school left, and summer vacation is almost here! It feels like the school year just started, and now we're so close to the finish line. Although my work schedule will slow down for the summer, baseball season is picking up fast. With everything going on, my Silk + Sonder planner is essential for staying organized—without it, managing all the practices and games would be overwhelming!
Purpose - The sense of meaning and direction in life, driven by ones' passions, values, and goals, which guide actions toward fulfilling one's potential.
I love that Silk + Sonder selects a unique theme for each month, and I really appreciate how thoughtful the creator, Meha, is in choosing every single one. The theme for June is "Purpose," which I found to be perfect for a month where I need to focus on myself. It truly feels intentional and inspiring. Now, let’s get started!
One of my favorite things about Silk + Sonder is receiving a fresh planner each month. Starting over regularly has been incredibly helpful, especially since yearly planners often leave me feeling overwhelmed. While this planner includes a year-at-a-glance spread, the calendar is too small to write in, but it's perfect for referencing future dates. At the beginning of each month, I fill in the calendar with any known events and then watch the days fly by! Although this month looks calmer since I'm off work, there are still plenty of events I need to keep track of. Staying organized is a huge help in managing my anxiety, and having a quick-reference calendar at the front of the planner helps me stay grounded and avoid spiraling into panic.
On page 6, we open up to a "Future Log." This includes two small calendars for the upcoming months. With just enough space to write small notes, I typically don’t fill this calendar up too much, but seeing July and August makes my heart swoon! Yay!! On the opposite side, we have a blank piece of paper which comes in handy for note taking, lists, and more!
Page 8 provides space to reflect on the previous month, with sections to note your wins, challenges, and favorite moments. It’s a great way to evaluate what’s working and what’s not. This is one of my favorite pages because it highlights all the month’s accomplishments. There's also a section to jot down things you want to start, stop, and continue. May was both successful and stressful. My wins included fishing, baseball, crafting, and some fun garage sale finds. My challenges were a cut finger, illness, and work-related stress. Some of my favorite moments were hearing about my kiddo’s BWCA trip, celebrating graduation, counting down to summer vacation, and spending time with grandma. Overall, it was a wonderful month, and I can’t wait to see what June brings!
I love the inclusion of the monthly intentions page. Here, you set intentions for yourself and re-read them throughout the month. With six categories and six boxes to complete, there’s plenty of room to jot things down. This isn’t necessarily a to-do list, but rather a place to get yourself off to a good start and remind yourself of things you'd like to work on. I have a lot of intentions for June, and most of them stay basically the same. I do, however, want to work better at exercising, getting big projects done, and adding more hot baths to my routines. Wish me luck!!
As I mentioned above, this is more than just a planner, and these trackers are proof of that. Pages 10 and 11 offer a mood tracker and a habit tracker. We are given space to fill in our typical moods and track them throughout the month. This is great for identifying patterns, especially for me and my anxiety. I love that these trackers are customizable, allowing you to track exactly how you want in such a pretty way! Silk + Sonder typically ships a week and a half before the next month starts, so while I have created my "keys" for each of these trackers, I haven’t yet started tracking. I have some goals to hit by my niece’s wedding this month, and the fresh monthly start has been key to my motivation! May the month of June produce more results than May did! Whoops!
Page 12 offers another tracker, this one being for sleep. I have no trouble in this department, so I usually skip it. The opposing page, however, is another one of my favorites. Page 13 offers a Gratitude Log that gives space for all 30 days in June to put down items I am grateful for each day. It's amazing how much a mindset can change for the better when you start your day off journaling what you are grateful for. I highly recommend it, even if you don't have this particular planner!
This month’s theme is “Purpose,” accompanied by a few thoughtful prompts. One asked me to list my core values and explain why they matter to me; another invited me to reflect on how living in alignment with those values can help fulfill my purpose. I chose the Seven Grandfather Teachings as my core values—because you truly can’t go wrong by living with honesty, truth, love, humility, courage, trust, and respect. That naturally led into the next question, where I wrote about how I use these teachings to guide me in living a good life. On the opposite page, there was space to write about what I imagine my life will look like in 10 years. I haven’t gotten to that part yet, but I plan to—likely during a slow morning coffee once I’m deep into summer vacation!
The next activity was one I’ve seen before and really enjoy: “Purpose Mapping.” It includes space to create a mind map, starting with your core purpose in the center and branching out into different areas of your life. In each area, you add actions and habits that align with your purpose. I didn’t want to rush this task, so I’ve left it open to start once my alarm clock no longer goes off at 5:00 a.m. I’m actually kind of excited to see how it turns out when it’s complete!
The next page we received was a beautiful mandala-style coloring page. With summer vacation on the horizon, this is a welcome addition—I’ll have a bit more time to slow down and enjoy relaxing activities like this. On the opposite page, we were given a “Ta-Da” List. Unlike a traditional “To-Do” List, this space is meant for us to record our accomplishments each day throughout June. I love this inclusion and can’t wait to get started!
Every Silk + Sonder journal comes with a recipe, and this month’s featured one includes ingredients I didn’t have on hand. Let me know if you’ve tried it—it looks delicious! On the opposite page, there’s a “Strengths and Weaknesses” activity, where you're invited to list your top ten strengths and weaknesses. This is another exercise I don’t want to rush, so I’ve been leisurely adding to it during my morning coffee time.
Blank sheets are always helpful and a great place to do some long division, write notes, and jot down addresses!
Each month, we’re given some kind of mind puzzle, and this time it was a triangle arithmagon. I’ve never actually seen a puzzle like this before, so it might take a little thinking—but I’m excited for the challenge! As for the riddle, I’m honestly stumped: What can go around the world but stay in a corner? Do you know the answer? On the opposite page is an expense tracker. While it’s a great feature, I don’t personally use it since I track my expenses in a Google Doc. Once again—use this journal in whatever way works best for you!
I love the fact that this journal always starts on a Monday, even if that means it starts the month prior. Here you can see Monday is the 26th of April, and I am ready to take on the week. As far as this journal as a whole goes, I tend to put most of my time into these calendar pages. With sections for meal plans, to-dos, habits and activities, shopping lists, and specific day sections, I write everything here. It keeps me on schedule for each day and feeling accomplished, and there is NOTHING more satisfying than crossing out an item on my list. I also appreciate the extras these sheets have - while I sometimes don't fill out how I want to feel each week, this week I found it helpful to write it down and pray over it. This journal is just so darn helpful!!
Tidying up with one last quote, the dictionary definition of "Sonder," and the back cover, that's all there is to it. I have come to find that a key part of my day is when I sit and fill out my planner with my cup of coffee. This quiet time happens before the kids are awake, and kicks my day off to a good start before I start my school day. It is extremely important for me to keep a consistent schedule for managing my anxiety and creating much more positive life, and this journal definitely is a big help in that.
The Verdict
After a pretty exciting May, I am ready for an even a relaxing June! This month is a little less chaotic than May, and welcomes summer vacation! Though I'm not working, our baseball schedule is chaotic and Silk + Sonder has become a necessity and without this planner, I'd definitely be lost (as would my husband!) I continue to be impressed with this subscription, and can't wait to see what's in store for July.
I typically tend to allocate about 15-20 minutes a day to this journal and flip from front to back reflecting, adding to, and processing what I have previously written. By the end of the month, my brain feels much more organized and stable. The beauty of this planner is remarkable, and the packable size means I can tote it around in my purse. Being extremely impressed with all aspects, I am really looking forward to discovering more about myself, all while staying organized and offering myself a little daily quiet time and important self-care.
