IPSY is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $14 per month, you get five full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (FYI – Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

Your IPSY Glam bag will come in a branded bubble mailer (I love the rainbow of colors this one has going on). When you open it up, you can always expect to find a makeup bag storing your new beauty products and an info sheet with additional details.

This month's bag was vibrant and sparkly- it's giving me Mardi Gras vibes!

The Breakdown – What’s Inside My December 2023 Ipsy Glam Bag

Vilhelm Parfumerie Poets of Berlin Eau de Parfum, 5 mL - Estimated Value $23.75 (buy the 20 mL size for $95)

I was thrilled to see the niche, luxury perfume house Vilhelm appear in IPSY this month- I’ve never been able to try a sample of their perfumes before, but I’ve heard incredible things about Poets of Berlin. I find the scent to be, well, intoxicating. It’s so good! It has scent notes of blueberry, lemon, bamboo, green wild orris, and vetiver. I honestly can’t pick up the fruity notes specifically, but I can tell this is a complex, well-balanced fragrance that isn’t too heavy.

Jurlique Rose Softening Body Lotion, 30 mL - Estimated Value $4.30 (buy the 300 mL version for $43)

Jurlique makes lovely rose-scented products- I’ve tried their facial mist and body oil, but this was my first time trying the lotion. It has the gentle, pleasant rose scent I’ve come to expect from Jurlique’s products, and it absorbed into my skin quickly and didn’t leave a greasy residue behind.

Living Proof Restore Repair Mask, 30 mL - Estimated Value $6.75 (buy the 200 mL version for $45)

Living Proof is a solid haircare brand, but I think this was my first time trying their restore repair mask (I’ve tried the dry shampoo and some of their curl products for sure). I quite liked it! My hair has been feeling extra unmanageable lately because I am overdue for a haircut, and this really helped with the coarseness and tangles after I let it sit in my hair for a few minutes in the shower.

Ace Beautē Slick Luster Lipgloss, 1.6 g

This lipgloss looks more pigmented in the tube than it actually is once you apply it- which is honestly how I prefer my lip glosses. It adds a great touch of pink shine to my lips, but it’s subtle enough that I won’t look weird as it fades away. It’s slightly sticky, but not in a way that bothers me. I couldn’t find this for sale online, which is a bummer if you liked the formula.

Manna Kadar Diamond Dust Roll-On Pigmented Shadow in Pixie, 2.5 g - Retail Value $14

When I saw this tube of sparkle with a roll-on applicator, I thought this product would distribute sheet sparkles and be difficult to build up pigment. I couldn’t have been more incorrect- my jaw just about dropped when I gave it a quick roll on my wrist and saw vivid rose gold shimmer come out.

This is definitely a product that needs to be paired with a primer to avoid creasing and glitter fallout, but now that I have used it I am actually quite impressed with it.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $14

Value Breakdown: This month everything in my Glam Bag except the Ace Beautē lip gloss adds up to $48.80. Alternatively, it breaks down to paying $2.80 per item, not including the actual bag.

Key Takeaways

I thought this month’s glam bag was stellar- IPSY ended the year with a bang. The star for me was the beautiful Vilhelm perfume sample, but the Jurlique and Manna Kadar rounded out a really strong glam bag for me.  At $14, this is a tough subscription to beat - especially when every month you get to choose one of the items they send.
