Enchanted Crystal is a monthly subscription for crystals, hand-picked and uniquely curated to offer a truly enchanted crystal experience.

This is a review of the $42.00 Crystal Variety Box.

First Impressions

How cute is the crystal covered tape that wraps this sturdy box? Such a lovely presentation!

The crystals were carefully packaged: nestled in several feet of sturdy paper and (separately) enclosed in bubble wrap. Not surprisingly, they arrived in perfect condition.

Enchanted Crystal has continued to use QR codes on the insert included in the box. There are three QR codes that take you to the Enchanted Crystal Library as well as links to welcome letters!

In their October blog post, Enchanted Crystal shares that not only are they rearranging their shop to accommodate new crystals from the Denver Gem Show, they’re sprucing up their logo as well. I’m always excited to see what new goodies will be on their way to subscribers!

Enchanted Crystal’s Monthly Box always includes a small bag of bonus crystals. This month, my Variety Box did as well. Both boxes had the same type of crystals: Icelandic spar and fire agate. Bonus crystals? Yes, please!

According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, Icelandic spar “...is formed through a process called sedimentation, where calcium-rich waters deposit calcite crystals over time….Icelandic spar is transparent and colorless, allowing light to pass through it creating a double refraction effect.” What that means is that if your piece of Icelandic spar is clear enough, you might be able to see the effect by looking through it onto another object. This made it very difficult to photograph, but it’s an interesting stone to look at. “Metaphysically, Icelandic is associated with clarity and insight, helping to clear mental fog and enhance focus. The double refraction effect is said to symbolize the ability to see different perspectives and find balance in life. Icelandic spar is also considered a spiritual amplifier, enhancing one's connection to higher consciousness and aiding in meditation and spiritual practices.”

The three pieces of fire agate I received have a lovely rich orange color and are smooth to the touch, which makes them feel interesting as you move them around in your hand. I found myself rolling them around in my hand absentmindedly. Which turned out to be a bit of a stress reliever! Unfortunately Enchanted Crystal’s Library doesn’t have a listing for fire agate (or agate in general) but a web search turned up plenty of interesting information.

According to Wikipedia, fire agate is a type of chalcedony and is considered a semi-precious gemstone found in Mexico and the Southwestern United States. It was formed through volcanic activity. According to Crystal Stones, metaphysically, fire agate “...is generally considered a stone of courage, protection, and strength. It is believed to help its wearer overcome fears and obstacles and provide stability and security in difficult times ... In addition, fire agate is thought to have a grounding effect, helping to balance and align the body’s energy centers. It is often used in meditation and spiritual and physical energy practices to help connect with the earth and promote feelings of calm and tranquility.”

Now, on to the main event!

The Crystals

Veracruz Amethyst (Old Find, Very Rare)

It’s always exciting to receive a rare crystal! This one is Veracruz amethyst, a highly sought-after variety of amethyst found in the Los Vigas mine in Veracruz, Mexico. According to Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, it’s prized by crystal collectors because, “It is known for its exceptional clarity, vibrant pink or purple color, and often remarkable prismatic crystal formations.”

I received four small pieces of this stunning crystal. I just love their soft color and the fact that they look so different depending on how you hold them. I love to turn them in different directions and admire the way that light reflects from their natural facets. Despite their diminutive size, they stand out and shine!

The Crystal Library adds that, “Metaphysically, Veracruz amethyst is believed to carry the properties of amethyst, which include spiritual protection, intuition, and higher consciousness. It is said to stimulate the third eye and crown chakras, promoting intuition and spiritual insight. Like many amethyst varieties, it is also believed to have a calming and soothing energy, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and promote relaxation.”

Tiger Eye Jasper

The next crystal is a popular one: Tiger’s Eye. I’m used to seeing it cut and polished but seeing it in its natural form, pulled directly from the Earth, is a nice change. It doesn’t have the full chatoyancy of a polished piece, but its beauty is unmistakable. The bands of different colored minerals that it’s composed of make for a stunning sight.

According to the Crystal Library on Enchanted Crystal’s website, “The tiger's eye component brings qualities of confidence, motivation, and clarity of intention. It is known for its chatoyancy, which gives it a shimmering, cat's-eye effect. Hematite, the metallic gray mineral, provides grounding, stability, and strength. Red or brown jasper adds vitality, passion, and creativity to the stone. Tiger's eye is treasured for its metaphysical properties. It is believed to promote personal power, resilience, and inner strength. This stone is often used to bring stability during times of change.”

Fluorite Set (Raw)

Fluorite is one of my favorite stones to make jewelry with. I’m used to the polished and shaped form of it, so these two raw pieces are such a fun departure. One has a flash of blue in it that I tried to capture, but it’s impossible to do it justice. Isn’t Mother Nature amazing?

Interestingly, according to the Fluorite entry in the Crystal Library, “The presence of different impurities and trace elements in the fluid give rise to the diverse range of colors observed in fluorite specimens. These specific fluorite specimens are of a raw form, but at one point they were likely all connected in some crystalline formation.” Which explains those brilliant blue flashes.

The Crystal Library adds that, “Metaphysically, fluorite is thought to enhance focus and concentration, making it beneficial for studying and decision-making. Different colors of fluorite are believed to have specific properties, such as purple fluorite enhancing intuition and spiritual awareness, green fluorite promoting heart healing and abundance, and blue fluorite supporting clear communication and self-expression.”

Moroccan Fairy Stone

This next mineral is so unusual. It’s called Moroccan fairy stone and the shape is impossible to describe. It’s fun to turn it around in your hands because it looks so different from every angle. It also has a unique feel to it; almost powdery.

The Crystal Library explains that, “The most intriguing aspect of Moroccan fairy stones is their intricate patterns, often resembling flowers, created by the undisturbed precipitation of minerals over a vast length of time. The inner structure of these concretions consists of minerals such as goethite, hematite, or siderite, which contribute to their strangely appealing appearance.”

The Crystal Library adds, “Metaphysically, Moroccan fairy stones are associated with a sense of grounding and connection to the Earth. They are believed to carry the energy of patience, stability, and nurturing. These stones may help individuals find inner balance and resilience in challenging situations.”

Selenite Blade

This next crystal is so exciting. The label said “Selenite Blade” so I was almost expecting a stone dagger! What I got, however, is actually more interesting. It’s a natural, unshaped piece of selenite. This long mineral specimen is like a giant shard, pulled directly from the earth. The fact that it’s naturally beautiful makes it so interesting.

Enchanted Crystal’s Library has some fascinating information about it. “Beyond its metaphysical applications, selenite is valued for its aesthetic appeal and is used in various decorative and ornamental purposes … Its luminous and delicate appearance makes it a sought-after gem for collectors and jewelry enthusiasts.”

I actually own a strand of small selenite beads and I love it. I’m tempted to buy more after seeing this blade and reading about it. Unfortunately, it’s not an inexpensive stone to purchase. Which makes this giant selenite blade so treasured.

The Crystal Library adds that, “Selenite is prized for its metaphysical properties and is considered a powerful cleansing and purifying crystal. It is believed to have a high vibrational energy that can clear negative energies, promote mental clarity, and create a calm and peaceful environment. Selenite is often used in spiritual practices and energy work to cleanse and recharge other crystals, as well as to facilitate new connections with them. A common practice is to place selenite in multiple locations around the home to create a protective barrier from external influence or negative energies.”

Moroccan Geode

The final crystal that I opened was a Moroccan geode. I love geodes; which is why I saved it for last. Geodes fascinate me because they look so ordinary from the outside; just a round, brown rock. It’s when you crack them open that they become stunning and totally one of a kind.

The Enchanted Crystal Library details several types of minerals you might find in a Moroccan geode but here is the information on the one I received: “Some Moroccan geodes may also contain agate (a deep orange/red coloration) in various forms, offering grounding and protective energies.” I love how each geode looks completely unique depending on the crystals within it, which means each has a different metaphysical property.

The Crystal Library adds that, “Agate, found in some Moroccan geodes, provides a sense of stability and balance. Overall, Moroccan geodes are not only a visual delight but also a source of metaphysical energy that aligns with the qualities of the crystals they house, making them sought-after in the world of crystal enthusiasts and collectors.”

Hand-Crafted Cloth Grid

Each month, a new grid design is printed onto a sturdy, hand-sewn cloth with water-based, PVC-free ink. Like in the past few months, this grid came with a QR code. From now on, Enchanted Crystal will be giving not just the backstory on each month’s grid, but suggestions on how to best use it!

According to the blog post on Enchanted Crystal , “This grid design is heavily inspired by autumn energies. Eight sun patterns revolve around a central pattern of concentric descending hexagons. For a little background, the hexagon shape carries profound symbolism in various spiritual and mystical traditions. It's often associated with harmony and balance, representing a perfect union of opposites. With its six equal sides and angles, the hexagon embodies equilibrium and unity, reflecting the interplay of various dualities in the universe, such as the spiritual and the material, or the masculine and the feminine energies. In sacred geometry, it holds a significant place, forming the basis of intricate patterns like the Flower of Life, which symbolizes creation, the cosmos, and the interconnectedness of all life.”

In addition, Enchanted Crystal adds, “The sun shapes can be interpreted to represent rising energies, and may pair well with crystals of a more intense nature, such a carnelian, aragonite, and agate. Placing these on the outer suns will align them with a central selection of crystals you may wish to intensify. We might suggest quartz or selenite to act as an agent of your intentions in the middle, after which you may carry it with you, hopefully having combined several properties into it.”

I’m so happy that Enchanted Crystal now explains each grid. When I first started receiving the box, about a year ago, I had never even seen a grid. I had no idea what it was or how to use it. Now I don’t just have a collection of lovely looking pieces of cloth, I have an understanding of their design, the significance behind it and how to use it effectively. Fantastic!

The Verdict

October’s variety box from Enchanted Crystal was another winner. Honestly, I’m never disappointed by this box! The box is aptly named because there is such a variety of crystals. So many different colors, shapes, sizes and metaphysical properties. There’s definitely something for everyone to enjoy.

I especially love Enchanted Crystal’s Crystal Library, where you can look up the physical and metaphysical properties of each stone. They continue to update it monthly, so if you haven’t looked at it lately, look again. I try to give a snippet of information from each listing but there is always more and it’s so worth reading.

While I’m still not a firm believer in all of the metaphysical powers attributed to crystals, I really do enjoy admiring and studying them. I’ve learned that like in life, there’s so much more to their beauty than their outward appearance. I enjoy learning about how they’re formed within the Earth and how they’re used throughout the world.

Each Enchanted Crystal box brings with it a new opportunity to learn about both the beautiful crystals that mother nature has provided as well as how they can be used to assist us in our lives.

I’m genuinely excited to see what next month’s box brings!
