First Impressions

Everything arrived packed neatly in the pink BoxyCharm by Ipsy box.

Now, on to the items!

NIP + FAB Hyaluronic Fix Extreme, 30 mL – Retail Value $24.95

This product somehow leaked in transit, getting the box a little wet and damaged. When I took the bottle out it was somehow slightly open, but luckily not too much of the product came out so there is still a lot left for me. Did I read "extreme hydration?" Count me in! This bottle is filled with both low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid. The formula works to sooth and calm your skin while providing instant hydration.

While this formula is lightweight, it can leave my skin feeling a little sticky so a little really does go a long way! I also found that this works best if I use it at night. I found that if I use it in the morning its almost too much with my makeup. Overall, this is making my skin feel hydrated and giving me a nice glow when I wake up. I love knowing I'm giving my skin a huge boost of hydration at night, especially as we go into cold weather season when my dry skin can get pretty bad. Hopefully this bottle lasts me through the winter because I am loving the results from it!

Defiance Beauty by Nechami Luminous Liquid Lipstick, 4.3 mL - Retail Value $25

I really wanted to love this lipstick shade, but after a few wears I decided it just wasn't for me. Normally I love a darker lip, but this shade really brought out the red undertones in my skin and just wasn't a favorite for me. This liquid lipstick goes on so nicely! It is so smooth, has amazing coverage, and gives your lips an intense hydration. Even though this goes on as a liquid, it doesn't leave you feeling sticky or looking shiny. I really loved this formula so I just might have to try the brand in a different shade.

tarte Maracuja Juicy Shift Blush, 3.5 g – Retail Value $30

I love a cream blush, especially one in this perfectly pink shade! This blush formula is really unique because it shifts with your pH levels to create your perfect shade. Mineral pigments enhance your natural glow while the hyaluronic acid superfruit complex gives your cheeks a plumper look. This blush went on like butter and gave me this perfectly rose pink cheek. I think this will be really great to use in the summer as well when I have more of a tan. While a cream blush might not be the most exciting product to get at this point, I am always happy to add to my collection especially one that works so well!

ACEOLOGY Green Tea Mask, 65 mL – Retail Value $69

Let me start by saying that after reading the directions, I decided to leave this mask on overnight. Given how sensitive my skin is this was a terrible idea because the mask made me breakout really badly and made my skin so dry and flakey. The mask is made with green tea, soybean extract, and niacinamide to protect, purify, and revitalize your complexion. It also says that the mask moisturizes to diminish dryness. The directions indicate that you can use this overnight every evening. I really wish I knew why this made my skin breakout so badly because I didn't feel any burning or tingling when I applied it which is why I decided to leave it on. Ultimately, I am going to be passing this on to a friend that was interested in giving it a try. Let me know in the comments how this mask worked for you!

LAURA GELLER Laura's Essentials Soft Satins Palette – Retail Value $35

This palette has quickly become my favorite! It comes with 6 soft-satin shadows and 2 highlighter shades. The eyeshadow colors are what I normally wear every day, and I love that there is a darker shade that I can use when I want a more smokey look. The colors are super buildable and last really well throughout the day. I am so happy with this palette!

Verdict

This BoxyCharm by Ipsy was another good month, but nothing that really blew me away. The total retail value came in at $183.95, which is in line with the "up to $200 value." I loved receiving so much makeup this time, mainly because the palette and the blush were big winners for me. While I didn't love the lipstick, I thought the formula was really nice so I'm going to give the brand a try in another shade.

While the green tea mask made me breakout, it is still a really nice full-size item that I was able to pass to a friend that will hopefully have better luck with it. I really do love trying new skin and beauty products so I still find the overall curation to be really great. I can't wait to see what October brings. What was your favorite item this month?
