First Impressions

Everything comes neatly packaged and wrapped with tissue paper, sealed with a sticker. Prior to purchasing a subscription, PinkSeoul will ask you several customization questions. Some products are more appropriate/recommended for a particular skin type, so be sure to figure out your skin type (I can't believe how long I thought I had oily skin!). Also, PinkSeoul has now switched to electronic info sheets, sent to your email when your box ships. I always get a little excited when I rip the tissue paper/sticker to see what comes in my box - the extra step with the packaging really adds to the overall experience.

FYI - this box took longer than usual to get to me due to my recent move. We should be back on our normal schedule for the September/October box!

The Breakdown – What’s Inside The Box

JMSolution Water Luminous S.O.S Ringer Mask  - Retail Value $1.99

I’ve used this mask before, and it’s one of my favorites. The material is made of cellulose and hugs the contours of my face perfectly (I hate when masks are sliding or won’t sit flush against my face). The mask is drenched with an essence containing hyaluronic acid, collagen, peptides, panthenol, and allantoin, and every time I use this mask it just leaves me softly glowing.

JMsolution Marine Luminous Black Pearl Balancing Mask - Retail Value $1.99

This sheet mask is perfect to take when traveling for use away from home. The top of the mask is a sachet containing cleanser to wash your face with before you mask, and there is one containing a lightweight moisturizer to apply once you’re done masking. The mask itself is made with Pearl extract, but I find it to overall just be a good hydrating mask and don’t think the Pearl specifically adds anything special.

Petitfee Koelf Rose Petal Satin Hand Mask - Retail Value $1.69

This is actually a hand mask I’ve used before because I ordered it myself in a sheet mask purchase a while back! I like it, and I definitely can use it- my cuticles have been absolutely tagged lately. I love the light rose scent this has and my hands definitely feel softer after using.

Frudia Green Grape Pore Control Scrub Cleansing Foam - Retail Value $12.40

This is the only product in the box that’s a bit of a miss for me. Frudia isn’t a brand that excites me (I don’t think it’s a bad brand, I just would choose others over it), and this cleanser is more intense than what I typically use on my dry, sensitive skin since it’s targeted for those with oily skin. I’ve definitely tried cleansers that are more astringent than this one so I do think it’s formulated well to not be stripping, but it just isn’t a good match for my skin type.

Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep Serum: Rice +Alpha-Arbutin, 1 oz - Retail Value $17

Now this is a brand I am always happy to see- I have yet to meet a Beauty of Joseon product I don’t like! It’s made with 68% rice bran water and 2% alpha arbutin and is designed to correct hyperpigmentation. I love that it’s gentle and feels hydrating on my skin. It has a lightweight texture, and my skin absolutely soaks it up.

Scinic Snail Matrix Cream - Retail Value $15?

I had a difficult finding this product for sale- and all of the ones I did find have a different packaging than I received. That would bother me if it was a mainstream Western brand, but I take a different approach to K-beauty products. There’s a wide world of Korean skincare out there I want to try, and many of it isn’t easy to find outside of Korea. This moisturizer is one I have been enjoying. It has a thin and slightly sticky texture (I think this would have been better suited packaged in a tube), and my skin absolutely soaks it up. I’ve been applying this after the Beauty of Joseon serum, and they have been a winning duo for my skin.

Scinic The Simple Light Cleansing Oil - Retail Value $20

This oil cleanser from Scinic is much more my speed! It’s incredibly gentle and made with madecassoside (which is derived from my favorite ingredient, Centella Asiatica) and macadamia oil. I don’t find this to leave a residue when I wash it away either- if I’m not wearing a lot of makeup or foundation I can definitely use this as my sole cleanser.

Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence - Retail Value $10.10

I have some allergy issues with chemical filters in sunscreen, but K-beauty products often feature more advanced filters that do not cause issues for me. This one is very lightweight and doesn’t feel greasy on my skin (a must during these super hot, humid summer days).

Key Takeaways

I thought this month's box from PinkSeoul was really solid. I loved the three masks that we received, and I get so happy when Beauty of Joseon appears in a box. Other than the Frudia cleanser, all of the products in this box are easy to incorporate into my skincare regime. I also love that we basically got an entire skincare routine in that box- starting with a double cleanse and even ending with sunscreen. If you like receiving full-size products and discovering K-Beauty products, then this is a subscription box you should seriously consider checking out - I always have fun every two months when this arrives at my door.
