Bag for Ipsy Glam Bag July 2023

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month is a special one: it’s the special edition ‘REFRESHMENTS’ takeover, and the theme is ‘The Great Escape.’ At first I thought they had run out of themed bags for the month… But nope; Ipsy collaborated with REFRESHMENTS to bring subscribers an extra-large bag this time around. It’s the perfect size for holding all your summer travel essentials!

Now, on to the items!

FIRST AID BEAUTY KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA, 28.3 g - Estimated Value $3.76

I love First Aid Beauty, so I’m always excited to see a product from them in a subscription. I’ve experienced one other product from their KP (keratosis pilaris) focused line. As I recall, it was the KP Smoothing Body Lotion, and it worked wonders when it came to resurfacing and ridding skin of the texture that plagues those struggling with KP. Naturally, I couldn’t wait to try this KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub with 10% AHA.

The first thing I noticed on the bottle was the sunburn alert, warning to apply sunscreen after using this scrub, likely due to the inclusion of AHA. I’ve enjoyed using this before shaving. The ultra-fine exfoliant feels nice upon application and leaves my skin feeling smooth without any irritation whatsoever. I did notice that the product is virtually scentless, which I also appreciate. Overall, this is a really great scrub, and I like it a lot.

SHADES BY SHAN The Liquid Pen Eyeliner in Black Onyx, 0.5 ml - Retail Value $18.00

Wow, I really like the style of this eyeliner. Products from Shades By Shan are always solid, and The Liquid Pen Eyeliner in Black Onyx is one of the most unique eye products I’ve seen. It looks similar to a felt-tip marker, allowing for precise application that’s nice and smooth and applies gently to the skin. The tip doesn’t drag along my eyelid at all, which is great.

I also noticed that the ink doesn’t bleed once applied; it truly does go on with precision. This is just the kind of eyeliner I’d reach for when I’m looking to achieve long-lasting wear since it seems to be water-resistant as well. The versatility is great; you can create a dramatic wing look just as easily as you can create a subtle liner look. Definitely my new go-to.

TOUCH IN SOL Pretty Filter Icy Sherbet Primer, 15 ml - Estimated Value $10.00

I love a good gel product! This Pretty Filter Icy Sherbet Primer by Touch In Sol is awesome. I love how cooling the primer is on my skin; it’s absolutely perfect and super refreshing for the hot weather we’ve been having lately. When I first applied this to my skin, I noticed that it had a silicone-like texture without having actual silicone as an ingredient, which I really appreciate.

The cooling sensation is fabulous and super refreshing, and the product itself does have a faint perfume-y scent to it that I’m not a huge fan of, but since it’s on the more delicate side, it’s not at all a dealbreaker.

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Amla Nude - Silky Nude Eyeshadow Palette in Dawn Light, 4 g - Retail Value $34.00

I am so impressed by the generous sizing of this Amla Nude - Silky Nude Eyeshadow Palette in Dawn Light from Seraphine Botanicals. I also really like the nude shades; they are incredibly versatile and a great staple for everyday wear. The four shades work well with my skin tone, which I appreciate. Out of the four shades, two are shimmers and two are mattes. The formula is fallout-free, and I like how smoothly each of the shadows apply to the skin. They seem to be buildable as well. I also noticed the inclusion of amla fruit powder in the formula, which is known as an antioxidant powerhouse, so, definite bonus points there. Oh, and best of all, no talc!

MUDMASKY Vitamin-A Booster French Clay Mask, 15 ml - Retail Value $15.00

I can always go for a wash-off mask. In fact, I’m a bit of a mask fiend. I love them. First off, MudMasky is a brand that’s well-known to me, and I always enjoy their products. This Vitamin-A Booster French Clay Mask is a great mask. It feels cool to the touch upon application and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and refined. This is definitely one that I’ll be incorporating into my skincare routine until I run out.

Despite the small size, the brand estimates a solid four uses out of this, and I have to say, that’s not a bad deal. I love clay masks because they pull out the impurities from deep within your pores. Not to mention, this particular mask is perhaps the fastest-drying clay mask I have ever used. Pretty impressive.

The Verdict

This was an incredible month for Ipsy Glam Bag! The highlight for me was Touch In Sol’s primer. The gel texture is so wonderfully refreshing especially during these warmer months, and the silicone-like texture does a great job of smoothing out pores, creating a smooth canvas for your makeup. I also really liked the liquid pen eyeliner from Shades by Shan. The precision tip makes it quick and easy to apply and create a variety of looks with minimal effort. First Aid Beauty’s body scrub was another welcome addition to this box. This ultra-fine scrub works so well on uneven skin texture, helping to smooth out any signs of KP.

The clay mask from MudMasky dries down and gets to work in seconds, and I love how clean it leaves my skin feeling without any irritation. Lastly, the generous size of Seraphine Botanical’s nude eyeshadow palette took me by surprise. Each shade works well for me, and the versatility between the combo of shimmers and mattes are on point. Overall, I thought this was an awesome bag. In fact, this is my favorite one that I’ve gotten in quite a while from Ipsy. I appreciate the blend of skincare and makeup, and the value is there.
