First Impressions

Everything comes neatly packaged and wrapped with tissue paper, sealed with a sticker. Prior to purchasing a subscription, PinkSeoul will ask you several customization questions. Some products are more appropriate/recommended for a particular skin type, so be sure to figure out your skin type (I can't believe how long I thought I had oily skin!). Also, PinkSeoul has now switched to electronic info sheets, sent to your email when your box ships. I always get a little excited when I rip the tissue paper/sticker to see what comes in my box - the extra step with the packaging really adds to the overall experience.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside The Box

Graymelin Cornflower Peel Off Pack, 50 mL - Retail Value $15

While peeling gels don’t typically excite me, I couldn’t wait to tear into this one- that gorgeous blue color is just so enticing. This is formulated with soothing cornflower extract and a flower complex, and it absolutely is one of the more gentle peeling gels I’ve tried (which, to be fair, are typically pretty gentle- my skin just seemed to like this one more than the others that have come before it).

Mizon Special Solution Good Night White Sleeping Mask, 50 mL - Retail Value $10.99

This sleeping mask is made with niacinamide and hyaluronic and it has a light lavender scent that I find to be really pleasant (but that scent does come from added fragrance in case that’s something you’re trying to avoid). It has a nice gel texture that felt hydrating to my skin without being heavy, and it didn’t clog my pores or cause any breakouts. My skin is on the dry side, but I think this did a good job of providing overnight hydration as a sleeping mask is want to do.

Nature Republic Aloe Vera Soothing Gel Mist, 155 mL - Retail Value $8.90

I am so happy this mist came when it did- I recently moved into a new apartment, and it just so happened to be when New Orleans started to experience heat advisories. As a skincare lover, I am ashamed to say. I did, in fact, get sunburned while I was carrying boxes back and forth.  The back of my shoulders got the worst of it, and the spray application of this made it easy to apply the product even when I was alone and didn’t have anyone to spray the product on me or massage it in. The mist applied a fine layer that felt refreshing on my skin, and it dispersed the product evenly rather than in a concentrated squirt. It’s not designed to spray upside down for long periods of time, but some time spent right side up gets it back up and running. It’s a few days later and my sunburn is almost gone, and I chalk it up to this Nature Republic mist and my fiancé rubbing in a snail secretion toner into my burn as well (who knew snail mucin was the key to fighting sunburns?).

Skinfood Aloe Vera Soothing Gel, 300 mL - Retail Value $8

I didn’t love this 93% aloe vera gel from Skinfood. While it’s definitely useful this time of year, I thought the texture left a bit to be desired- it was on the thin side and didn’t want to absorb. I applied it to my legs, and while I didn’t use a lot of it my legs felt slick and wet for longer than I would have preferred, and after a while the feeling changed to slightly sticky. I think that feeling would be more enjoyable if I was dealing with a bad sunburn where my skin is very sensitive and most likely hurting, but on regular Jessica skin it left me feeling “meh.”

Elizavecca Hell-Pore Galactomyces Premium Ampoule, 50 mL - Retail Value $22

This brand always has fun and creative packaging- the pig on the front reminds me of Jack and the Beanstalk for some reason I can’t quite put my finger on, and I find that super charming. This hydrating serum has three ingredients my skin really likes- adenosine, niacinamide, and the star, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate. Along with being hydrating I honestly found this to be quite the soothing serum, and I believe we can thank the ferment filtrate for that- it can help with stimulating cell regeneration and blood circulation, and it's actually a byproduct of fermented sake.

Koelf Rose Petal Satin Foot Mask - Retail Value $1.79

I’ve personally purchased Koelf masks before, and while I am sure they’ve appeared at some point during the years I’ve been reviewing boxes I can’t actually remember seeing them in a subscription before. I was really excited when I saw that this was a foot mask, too- they’re not commonly sent compared to your typical sheet mask! This isn’t a peeling foot mask but rather is a hydrating one that aims to get your feet soft as satin (a tall ask for my feet, but I enjoyed it all the same). It smelled faintly of flowers and I found this to be a really pleasant foot mask to use. Tip- whenever I do foot masks I like to put some cozy socks on top, both to keep the mask in place and also so I can walk if I need to (like if I run out of snacks and need more, for example).

JMsolution Panthelene Intensive Barrier Mask - Retail Value $1.59

I adore JMsolution masks and am always thrilled when they show up in boxes- I know I can consistently count on their masks to be a treat to use. This mask has some fun ingredients like panthenol, guaiazulene (a great ingredient to calm inflammation), Centella Asiatica, and derivatives of it like madecassoside and asiatic acid, and ferric acid. I found it to be a super soothing and gentle sheet mask to use that also gave a great boost of moisture to my skin (which it needed… my skincare routine took a backseat during the hectic life that was moving and starting a new job). This mask was a treat-I would happily take ten more.

Frudia Mango Super Aqua Ampoule Mask - Retail Value $0.89

This mask was nice, but it was hard to follow up the show stopper that was the JMsolution mask. It has fruit extracts paired with hyaluronic acid and beta gluten, and it definitely was hydrating and left my skin with a bit of a glow. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn’t call it remarkable.

Key Takeaways

This month's box from PinkSeoul was another solid box for me. I really appreciated that so many products were gentle and soothing-  that seemed to be the overall theme of the box. The stars for me were definitely the Nature Republic aloe mist and JMsolution sheet mask, but honestly, the only product I would classify as a "miss" for me is the Skinfood aloe vera gel and that is something that will still definitely get used in our household. No subscription box will be a perfect fit 100% of the time, but experimenting is part of the fun. If you like receiving full-size products and discovering K-Beauty products, then this is a subscription box you should seriously consider checking out - I always have fun every two months when this arrives at my door.

Can I ask what your profile is for Pink Seoul? I get the regular box for dry/pigmentation and received the Elizavecca in my April box.

While it seems like a nice bo, the value is supposed to $80 but yours was $69 when the box price was $50? Doesn’t seem like that great of a deal

That Eliza Vecca ampoule looks like chefs kiss. I just got their bb cream and foundation and I am so excited to try them- they swatch magnificently.
