Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme is ‘Ready. Set. Play!’ Hmm… ‘Play’? I’m guessing the theme is meant to elicit memories of summer, and if that’s the case, it gets the job done. As far as this month’s makeup bag, I think they must have run out of the actual Pride-themed bags for this month before shipping mine, which is a bummer. And I’m pretty sure the bag that I received was a repeat from a previous month, but I do like that it snaps in the front, so I’m not mad at it.
Now, on to the items!
TRUFFLUV Nourish Argan Style Cream, 30 ml - Estimated Value $2.64

Style cream is an essential for me, and it’s something I’ll always need on hand. When it comes to hair products, though, one size does not fit all. Since I have very thick, curly 3C hair that craves moisture, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this TruffLuv Nourish Argan Style Cream. But I’m happy to say, the formula is actually a bit thicker than I expected, and since it does contain argan oil as a main ingredient, it’s quite hydrating. Even though it’s not made specifically for my type of hair (and not as thick as some of my other style creams), it does leave my hair with a nice healthy sheen. Personally, I would use this more for hydrating my hair rather than for styling and then apply a light hold gel or curl cream over it to keep my curls defined and in place. If you have ‘fine’ hair, you might find this product a bit too heavy. My hair, on the other hand, can use all the moisture it can get, so this cream is a surprising win for me.
LOVE+CRAFT+BEAUTY Eyeshadow Trio in Masquerave, 2.3 g - Retail Value $12.00

Eyeshadow isn’t one of my everyday staples, but I do enjoy getting to glam it up every now and then. I absolutely love the colors in this Eyeshadow Trio of ‘Masquerave’ from Love+Craft+Beauty. They are definitely my vibe. All three shades blend together beautifully, and they work well with my skin tone. I also really like how compact the palette is while containing multiple shadows. It’s perfect for on-the-go yet has enough variety to allow for multiple looks, so it’s easy to stow in your purse for touch-ups during a night out. The formula is creamy and smooth to the touch, highly pigmented, and definitely buildable. Each shade applies easily to my eyelids with a brush or even just my fingers. This mini palette actually made me excited to wear eyeshadow again!

CIATE LONDON Velvet Skin Cream Blush in Fancy, 5 g - Estimated Value $7.99

What a lovely blush. This Velvet Skin Cream Blush in the shade ‘Fancy’ from Ciate London is a bit of a unique product. It’s blush in the form of a cream. The formula is nice and smooth, with plenty of pigment, and the shade is one that works well with my skin; a light pink rose tint. I like that it’s buildable, allowing you to make your look as bold or as subtle as you want. Now, personally, I’m going to hang onto this product for wintertime. I don’t know about you, but if I were to apply this on a hot summer day, it would slide right off my face. Then again, my skin is more on the oily side. If you don’t have that problem, this product may very well work for you in the heat. Overall, it’s got a great texture to it, and when I apply it to my cheeks, it gives them a lovely lift with a natural looking flush.

BEAUTANIQ BEAUTY Great Lengths Lengthening and Thickening Mascara, 8 g - Retail Value $20.00 (Similar product linked)

Mascara is a definite staple all-year round, and this Beautaniq Beauty Great Lengths Lengthening and Thickening Mascara has been a gamechanger. The silicone brush is quite large and shaped just so as to separate every eyelash. I like the formula, giving my lashes a fuller, more luscious look. The mascara is buildable, which makes it easy to go from a natural look to a more dramatic one in seconds. When I applied this for the first time, I was impressed with the lash-extending, volumizing effect; the product really delivers. Plus, the inclusion of castor oil is a nice bonus since it promotes hair growth. I also really like the sizing of this product. It’s actually full-size, which is a nice bonus, especially since Ipsy has been sending micro-sized samples; definitely adds value to the bag for sure.
OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Pasadena, 1.1 g - Estimated Value $2.75

I am a huge fan of Ofra products, so when I saw this, I was pretty pumped. Well, once I got past the tiny size! This Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade ‘Pasadena’ is very nice. The color is a purple-pink blend that’s actually very close to my natural lip color. I love the doe foot applicator. When applying the lipstick, it goes on smoothly and provides the full coverage you’d expect from a regular lipstick. The formula feels luscious and hydrating at first, and a few minutes later, it still feels incredibly comfortable even after it dries down slightly. It seems to be pretty long-lasting as well, which impressed me. I think this is a great lip product; I just wish they had sent a bigger sample.

The Verdict
This was a great month for Ipsy Glam Bag! The highlight for me was Love+Craft+Beauty’s stunning eyeshadow trio. I couldn’t love the colors more, and they complement each other wonderfully. Beautaniq Beauty’s mascara does a solid job of creating the look of fuller eyelashes, and the inclusion of castor oil, which promotes hair growth, is a definite win. I was pleasantly surprised with TruffLuv’s argan style cream, which does an excellent job of hydrating my hair, thanks to its oil base. The liquid lipstick from Ofra was also impressive, with it’s long-staying power and hydrating yet matte formula that dries down without squeezing the life out of my lips. Lastly, Ciate London’s cream blush… It’s incredibly velvety as the name suggests, and it’s a lovely pink rose shade that gives a natural-looking tint but is also buildable in case you’re going for something more dramatic. Overall, I thought this was an awesome bag. The products, even though makeup-heavy, were all shades perfect for my skin tone, which I truly appreciated, and the value is there.
