First Impressions

Even though this subscription is called Boxycharm, it still arrived in a pink Ipsy box.

Now, on to the items!

GOLDFADEN MD Pure Start Detoxifying Facial Cleanser, 3.4 fl oz – Buy 5 fl oz for $39

My husband has recently discovered that someone in their mid-30s without acne shouldn't be using acne cleansers. So we have been trying out lots of new formulas to find his perfect fit. He absolutely still prefers a gel cleanser (which means he won't be dipping into my oils anytime soon) so this arrival was perfect for him. This formulation is designed to remove dirt and oil from this skin (and help with the occasional zit or two) without stripping your skin's moisture barrier. Will liked the gel texture and the subtle fresh scent and gave it two thumbs up. This specific size seems to be exclusive to Ipsy, though a larger bottle has a pretty reasonable price. Will might be in luck!

IL MAKIAGE Color Boss Squad Eyeshadow Palette in 'Call The Shots' - Retail Value $48

All of the advertisements I see for IL MAKIAGE are trying to sell me foundation, but this brand should really lean into their eyeshadows. I have had a few from this brand show up over the last few years and they are always super creamy and insanely pigmented. Seriously, even the mattes! If you dip your finger into the pan, they almost feel like an actual cream though they are a powder. This quad is a very wearable color story that should suit most subscribers lucky enough to receive it. They apply fine with a brush, but for maximum payoff, stick to your fingers.

DIRTY LAMB Apricot Cleansing Oil, 2 fl oz– Retail Value $42

This is hands down my holy grail oil cleanser. I received my first bottle a few years ago and I was instantly smitten! If you love oil cleansers, you will love this. If you aren't sure, this one will win you over. First, the scent is fantastic. Imagine lavender and ylang-ylang with an edge of warm cardamom. Delightful! And the oil itself somehow erases dirt and makeup while still leaving skin feeling soft and moisturized once you rinse it off. A dream.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Satin Lipstick in 'Lychee' – Retail Value $23

I don't know why this formula is described as a satin, because it is much more of a matte. This dirty red color doesn't fully dry down but does have a matte finish. Loads and loads of pigment here and a bit of staining action when it wears off, but in the best way. This is a shade I will reserve for fall, but overall, I dig it.

KVD VEGAN BEAUTY Tattoo Pencil Liner in 'Diox Purple' – Retail Value $23

I don't wear eyeliner often, but I think it's great this arrived in a shade other than black. It is a soft gel pencil in a great moody purple. I like how easily it is to smudge, especially with smoky eyes seeing more and more popularity again.

Verdict

This BoxyCharm by Ipsy had a really great curation of products this month, including a his and hers cleanser moment! I also really loved the eyeshadow and lipstick and thought the purple eyeliner was adventurous and fun. The value was difficult to calculate due to the gel cleanser mystery size, but I feel like this delivery was certainly worth the subscription cost.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Since this is now “Boxycharm by Ipsy,” I’m pretty sure that it is going to continue to come in boxes that say “Ipsy.”

I actually have used the il mikage foundation(woke up like this)& both the concealer and concealer palette. I wasn’t impressed by the foundation or the regular concealer BUT the concealer palette is amazing! Easily to use and blend, waterproof and SWEATPROOF (which helps with mentalpausal hot flashes), doesn’t cake or fade and stays for HOURS! The eyeshadow is also a great product from them! Seems every cosmetic company has a few great products but none have a whole line of great products… Strange

Calico Cat

Wonderful review from you as usual. I have always liked that you continue to show the product outside of it’s packaging, be it a cleanser or an eyeliner. It used to be very common on this website but not anymore. Seeing the product visually helps me decide if I’m going to buy. And with your vast esthetician’s knowledge, I always learn so much from your reviews. Thank so much!!!!
