First Impressions

Though I am 34 years old, I have a fondness of stuffed animals, and have been a big fan of Build-a-Bear for years. This fondness has been instilled into my boys, and they have taken my adoration for stuffies and turned it into an obsession! After discovering this subscription last quarter, the boys have been eagerly waiting for the spring shipment. Read below to see what we discovered.

This quarter's theme was "Totally Roarsome" and because Charlie absolutely loves dinosaurs, this was right up his alley. He couldn't wait to dive in and check out this unique and playful spring-themed curation.

Inside the Cubscription Spring 2023 Box

Included in this quarters box was a little booklet detailing (via rhyme) the items included inside. Charlie loved reading the poems and couldn't wait to get into the goodies.

Exclusive Cubscription Build-A-Bear Dinosaur

Ready to take an adventure? It's time to go out and explore! Make sure you bring your new friend, this adorable green dinosaur. To give your dinosaur some warmth, hug your new friend tight. Close your eyes and make a wish with all your might.

First off, I have to say Mr. Dinosaur is ultra soft and cuddly. His green fluffy fur is silky and soft making it the perfect bedtime companion. With rainbow colored spikes, nails, and heart badge, this guy is extremely colorful and friendly looking. Coming in a slightly smaller size than the traditional Build-a-Bear critters, this dino is easy to store and lights up a bedroom with its vibrant colors. Maintaining the high B-A-B quality, the stitches are sewn perfectly, and the design is right on par. Being exclusive to this box, Charlie was really excited to add him to his collection, and found him to be soothing at night with just how soft and snuggly he is.

Plush Fanny Pack

Use markers to design this fun fanny pack. Then fill it with your goodies like toys and a yummy snack.

Fanny packs are all the rage, and B-A-B is getting in on the action. Fitting perfect over the shoulder of Mr. Dinosaur (like all the cool kids wear them), this is perfect for storing little treasures. Included was a pack of three markers that matched the rainbow design of our plushies spikes and gave me total "Doodle Bear" vibes. Charlie asked if we could save this coloring project for our Saturday night movie and popcorn party so everyone in our family could be included. Such a thoughtful little man, if I do say so myself! Stay tuned for a completed colored fanny pack!

Jumbo Patches

Make your denim jackets and jeans stand out with this trick. Decorate them with these patches you just peel and then stick!

When I read "jumbo" patches, I certainly wasn't expecting them to be quite this big, but was pleasantly surprised! Measuring 4-5" from side to side, these brightly embroidered sticky patches aren't something I'm real familiar with, but found really cute. While Charlie wasn't interested in adding these to his jeans or clothing, he thought they were fun and then passed them on to me. I do have a light denim jean jacket and am contemplating adding one just for fun, but am still deciding if at 34 I could pull it off. Thoughts?

Water Bottle with Snack Storage

Carry your water and snacks in one easy way. take it out and about while you adventure all day.

As a mom of two little boys, I have come to the conclusion that you can never have enough water bottles. That being said, Charlie and I were both excited to see this water bottle/snack container combo featured in this seasons box. Donned with the same designs as this month's patches, along with colorful postage stamps, the snack portion fits about 1/2 cup of cereal, along with 12ish ounces of water. With a straw top and handle, it is easy to carry and perfect for in the car. What more could a parent ask for?!

Notebook

This notebook is great for writing about your day. If you have any cool stories, this is where they will stay!

My dear Charlie boy loves to write and journal. He recently purchased a fancy leather bound journal from Hobby Lobby with his birthday money to write down his thoughts and plans. At 8 years old he impresses me on the daily, and you can bet he was happy to receive another source of paper to keep his ideas in. With a spiral spine and hardcover front and back, this 6" square notebook includes the adorable "Have a Dino-Mite Day!" quote on the front and many lined pages. Small enough to lug around in the car, this is a perfect travel size, and will no doubt host a plethora of tic-tac-toe games in the future!

Puzzle

This puzzle is perfect for when you go away. You can put it together while traveling on vacay!

What a cute and tiny puzzle! Including 50 pieces, this mini puzzle comes with brightly designed pieces that are very well made. Made from extremely thick cardboard, these pieces won't bend, and fit together perfectly. Charlie is a puzzle guy and most recently picked out an elk puzzle for our family to do. That 1,000 piece brown nightmare took us weeks to finish and left me dreading his next puzzle choice. Thankfully, it was this one, which was much more manageable!

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $34.99 + $7 shipping

Value Breakdown: With 6 items in this box and a cost of $34.99 + $7 shipping, that gives each item an average cost of about $6.99. Not too shabby for exclusive B.A.B. branded items!

Key Takeaways

As our second experience with the Cubscription quarterly subscription, I was impressed. Because we are fans of Build-a-Bear and know their general prices and quality, I can say this is a great way to receive exclusive items at a decent price. Each of this seasons items were functional, fun, and eye-catching. Charlie was a fan of every item except the patches and has quickly decided Mr. Dinosaur is his new fave. Overall, this was a very fitting curation for our family and we are already looking forward to the Summer 2023 box!
