First Impressions

Spring is here, and along with this blissful season is my first review of the Cat Kit by Pusheen box! Correlating in theme with this season's Pusheen box, I was beyond thrilled to open up this beautifully packaged, strawberry adorned box. Featuring perforated holes to punch out for added excitement, this box was enticing from the get go. What kind of quirky, cute exclusive products have been curated for kitty subscribers? Read below to find out!

Notecard

Just what exactly does this month's box contain? This sweet postcard lays it all out.

Strawberry Milk Toy

Bringing me back to my elementary school days, this fluffy strawberry milk carton toy is extremely fitting with this quarters theme. Standing at 7 inches tall, this is quite a large toy and features a hole to store three 2 inch strawberries, perfect to bat around. As a quilter, I found the assembly and creation of this toy to be of high quality, and loved the embroidered and appliquéd details. What did Miley cat think? See below!

Ms. Miley is my 14-year-old calico house cat. Her and I are up against a lot of testosterone in this place, so to spoil her with girly, precious goodies was really fun. At 14 she is as feisty and playful as ever, and while I didn't get any action shots of her playing with the milk carton toy, she LOVED those strawberries!

Kicker Toy

I love the Pusheen character, and only just found out that her name stems from the word puisín, which means kitten in Irish. Chubby in size with the cutest little face, she is adorning this kicker toy from all angles. Another large toy (7 inches), it features at velcro pouch in which catnip can be inserted. With a soft little fluffy tail, this sort of flops around like a little critter, and was very well made.

Being fresh out of catnip, this toy didn't thrill my old girl. Miley generally likes smaller toys so it didn't surprise me that she was unimpressed. I do have catnip on my grocery list, but am thinking about gifting this toy to my mom's cat "Princess" as she truly looks like a Pusheen/Pip mix and loooovves toys like this one!

Brush and Dustpan Set

Perfect for sweeping up food dish messes, this little broom and dustpan set is appealing and functional! (I mean seriously, have you ever seen a dustpan so cute?) While I wasn't sure at first that this set was something I really needed in my life, my kids have found this set fascinating and actually want to sweep up their own treat crumbs with it!

Neckerchief

Awe! Kitty clothes!!! Designed in blue fabric with a pink binding, this neckerchief secures with a velcro strip. Miley doesn't wear neckerchiefs often, but she didn't mind having it on, and looked uber adorable.

Just look at that little mama! Being ultra stylish, Miley strutted throughout the house showing off her new accessory. Scout was super impressed, though a little jealous of all of these toys!

Treat Jar

If you've got a cat, you've got to have cat treats! With a plethora of plastic re-sealable packages, I am now able to toss them into this beautiful glass treat jar! 7 inches tall and 4 inches wide, this airtight/vacuum sealed jar holds a good amount of treats, and adds a quirky flair to our pet food area.

Reusable Food Lid

The last item we received was a reusable cat food cover. Made from silicone, this cover fits a variety of can sizes and was made with a paw shaped tab for easy removal. The clipart on the top strays a bit from the strawberry milk theme, but is still super cute, and I was really intrigued by this inclusion. With Miley's advanced age, we've moved from canned wet food, to the pouches, so I don't really need this, but know my mom and "Princess" will appreciate it.

My Verdict

This being my first go around with the Cat Kit by Pusheen Box, and I have to say, I'm impressed! Featuring an eccentric and fun theme, I was really excited with not only the curation of this season's box, but the high quality as well. Every item was made to last and was very well thought out in design. Miley's favorite definitely was the milk container toy, while I was most impressed with the treat jar. Hank and Charlie are still fighting over the broom and dustpan, and my husband just rolls his eyes. Overall, this box was the perfect balance of functional and fun, creating a lovely experience for me and my cat. We can't wait to see what they have in store for the Summer box, which looks to ship in July and is featuring the theme of "Ice Cream"!

Thanks for commenting Danielle! I’m really excited to see what the next box contains. This treat jar has gotten ample use – Miley loves it! The bigger toy didn’t interest her, so I’ve been using it to play fetch with my pup.

That treat jar is way better than the one I received in my first box, which was ceramic and broke (the handle part) after the first use. I’ve found Pusheen boxes are hit or miss, the items are always cute but not the best quality. I did like the Cat Kit better because the price was lower and my cats always enjoyed the toys.
