First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other. This month I did not receive a card.

Well, now, it appears I may have spoken too soon… It had been a minute since a Nourish Naturals product was included in the monthly product curation, but I’m happy to report that the streak has since been broken. I’m quite interested to see what else this month’s selection holds, so let’s get to it.

Now, on to the items!

NOURISH NATURALS Cocoa Glaze Lip Stain in Midsummer, 4 ml - Retail Value $16

Here we have an updated model of Nourish Naturals’ signature product. The Cocoa Glaze Lip Stain in Midsummer provides the hydration of a lip mask with a long-lasting hint of color. I appreciate the slightly thicker texture of this updated formula. With the addition of cocoa and shea butters, along with Vitamin E, this lip stain delivers on hydration without any sticky or greasy feeling. I truly enjoy the doe foot applicator, and bonus points for the delightfully delicious scent, which reminds me of an orange creamsicle. When I applied this to my lips, the heavier formula absorbed rather quickly and left my lips feeling protected for much longer than I expected.

LOVESONG Invisible Dry Shampoo Gel, 50 ml - Retail Value $36

Recently I’ve become slightly more familiar with dry shampoo and the benefits it can provide to those with hair unlike mine. Dry shampoos don’t exactly work for my thick, curly hair, which in fact craves oil. Unlike those with more finely textured hair, instead of wanting to rid my hair of oil, people with hair like mine are always in search of the best ways to lock in all the oily goodness we can get. This Invisible Dry Shampoo Gel from Lovesong serves to remove the excess from those whose hair creates an ample amount of oil naturally. For the sake of a review, I tested out this gel. All you do is pump some of the solution into your palm and then apply it to dry hair where some refreshment is desired. It has quite a strong lemon-y floral scent to it that reminds me a bit of Pledge, but the formula doesn’t leave behind a trace of a white cast, which is always a positive. After working in the dry shampoo to your scalp and roots, you can allow your hair to dry once applying the product or you can choose to blowdry it. My favorite thing about this product is that it is entirely natural unlike some other dry shampoos I’ve seen out there, and it even contains ingredients for the purpose of strengthening hair at the roots, which is a nice bonus. I’ll be passing along this product to a finer-haired friend of mine who can get more use out of it than myself.

KALEIDO COSMETICS Vacay Vibes Eyeshadow Palette, 7.2 g - Retail Value $14

I really enjoy the Kaleido Cosmetics brand. Although eyeshadow isn’t one of my everyday essentials, I do appreciate the variety of looks that can be created using just this single palette. With six different pearl-coated shades, the palette itself is compact enough to stash away in an overnight bag or purse for touch ups during a night out. I was pleased with how well each of the colors worked with my skin tone, and I’m loving the powder formula. My favorite duo is ‘Majesty’ and ‘Element’ since I most often wear an everyday, natural look. Either of the remaining two combos would be perfect for a night out depending on my mood. I love the versatility this palette delivers, and the formula delivers equally as well. These shadows are creamy and well-pigmented, and they apply smoothly to my eyelids with a brush or just my fingers. Adding a touch of water to the shadows creates a bolder, more shimmery look. I experienced little fallout with this formula, and each of the shades seem to be buildable, easily blendable, and long-lasting. One of my new favorite all-in-one palettes.

TAMANU Pure Tamanu Face and Body Oil, 30 ml - Retail Value $35

Oil is not an ingredient that I tend to include in my everyday skincare routine. My skin is a bit sensitive, and it tends to break out when it comes to using thick, heavy formulas like this. For that reason, I’m always hesitant when it comes to using oil-based products directly on my face. That being said, I very much appreciate the benefits of tamanu oil, which lends itself well to problematic skin conditions including acne, scarring, rosacea, dermatitis, and even eczema. This Tamanu Pure Face and Body Oil has a unique nutty scent that I don’t find to be overpowering, and the oily formula itself is incredibly moisturizing. So moisturizing, in fact, that it leaves my fingers and anything else within reach looking like I just manhandled a bucket of fried chicken. I do have a stubborn patch of eczema on my shoulder that pops up every now and again, and this oil could be the perfect thing to target said affliction. I’m excited to see if tamanu’s natural benefits deliver in banishing the patch for good, but only time will tell.

Verdict

I thought this was a good month for Nourish Beauty Box! The highlight for me was seeing a Nourish Naturals product once again. I really enjoy the hydration and the light pop of color the lip stain ‘Midsummer’ gives to my lips. The long-lasting formula is pretty impressive, and I am a huge fan of the orange creamsicle scent too. The Tamanu Pure oil has worked great so far on my stubborn eczema patch, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a non-existent patch one of these days. For my facial skincare routine, this oil is too heavy, but for select areas of the body, it’s a solid option. Kaleido Cosmetics’ eyeshadow palette has a variety of lovely shades, all of which work great with my skin tone and provide versatility for multiple looks. The formula is also nicely pigmented, and it has a buttery texture to it.. Lastly, the dry shampoo gel from Lovesong is a unique product that’s best suited to those with finer hair than mine. Bonus points for indeed being invisible upon application as the product name suggests. Overall, I was pretty pleased with the curation for this month, which included everything from makeup to skincare to haircare, and the value is there.
