IPSY Glam Bag Plus is a $28 per month subscription box from IPSY. Every month you’ll receive five full-sized beauty products. The box will have a retail value of at least $120. (This box was voted as one of the best makeup subscription boxes and best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers!)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

As always, my goodies arrived in the pink IPSY bubble mailer and a drawstring bag. The design this month features purple flowers on a lilac background.

I did not receive an info card this month.

Now, on to the items!

KVD Beauty Good Apple Lightweight Full-Coverage Cream Foundation Balm, 10 g - Retail Value $40

I have been wanting to try this stuff ever since it launched, but the small amount you get for the price always discouraged me. And I found that I didn't love this formula on my drier skin. While I loved how lightweight the feel was, it maximized all of my skin texture and just looked crumbly and flakey on the drier areas of my face. I could see this working much better for someone with less textured skin, but for me, this was a bust.

Purlisse Perfect Glow BB Concealer, 10 mL- Retail Value $28

I liked this concealer much more than the foundation! Purlisse tends to have glowier, more natural finishes than some other brands and this concealer gives me the color correction I need (bye dark circles and redness) without looking like makeup. The light shade was perfect for my face and though the tube is rather small, a little goes a long way, especially if you mix this with a liquid highlighter.

Fleur & Bee Nectar of the C Vitamin C Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $46

I can't recall ever trying anything from this band, and you know I had to run that ingredient list through a thorough check! I found lots to brag about. For a formula designed to give brightness, this little bottle certainly has the good stuff inside to back it up. It starts off with a stable form of brightening vitamin C, adds in goodies like moisturizing hyaluronic acid, all-star niacinamide, and jojoba. The result is a lightweight gel serum with a citrusy and earthy scent that absorbs in a snap and provides a nice surface for your makeup or the rest of your skincare. Vitamin C takes a little time to really kick in in terms of brighter skin, but this is a great formula to go the distance with.

tarte SEA drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer, 50 mL - 145 mL - Retail Value $39

I received the same version (?) of this product back in my Boxycharm Tarte box takeover, and I noted then that the ingredients and packaging were different and a little confusing. Here were my thoughts:

I was a little confused as to what this product actually was at first, since the packaging here differs from the tub you would find if you snagged it at Sephora. And, actually, the ingredient list is different too. I always find this a little confusing. Was there a reformulation? Is this the newer or the older formula? I don't love it when things like this get confusing. Anyway, this version of this formula has a few differences from the one online now. Namely, this one seems to be missing things like Phospholipids and algae extract that the other version has. Other than that they are mostly similar, and both contain hyaluronic acid, glycerine, and squalane. It isn't my favorite moisturizer by any means, but if you have oilier or combo skin, I would give this a shot.

I still find this a little bit murky since the Sephora product page seems to suggest this stuff is on the outs or is being/has been reformulated. I don't love confusing products like this in general and much prefer the formulas I receive in my subs to mirror the ones I would buy in store.

r.e.m. beauty Dream Lashes  - Retail Value $16

I am not one to ever really use falsies, but your girl has a charity ball in March so I will be setting these aside until then. I appreciate how they have drama but don't look like giant furry caterpillars. Hopefully, I can get them on my lids without any major incidents. I am pretty clumsy with lashes!

Verdict

This month's IPSY Glam Bag Plus was pretty hit or miss, but the highs included that serum, concealer, and the false lashes that arrived at the perfect time. I was less excited by the tarte gel moisturizer that I swear I have 3-4 tubs of, and the foundation that made my face look like an iced cake. But you win some, lose, some! The total value of my items lands at $169.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Yes there’s a very accurate, up to date one but idk if we’re allowed to use the name here. It’s hello subscription.

Probably the best site for spoilers is always the owning site itself; in this case, ipsy.com is showing Feb. spoilers. Otherwise, you can do a google search for “subscription box review sites.”

So happy to see Fleur & Bee here! Vitamin of the C is the only vitamin C serum I’ve ever tried that I actually like. Their Youth Fairy retinol moisturizer is also excellent.

Love your review as always. I like to read them as you are so thorough in your ingredient info. Good luck with the lashes. Me. I would probably glue my eyelids shut and be in the ER instead of the ball.

Hi Megan! Thank you! Can you note, in the future, which are the two items that Ipsy assigned to you? It helps! Sometimes they are the same two that they assign to me, so I wonder if those are items they have a large stock of and want to push out quickly. They assigned the Tarte and the vitamin C nectar to me, but they are both winners for me, so I’m happy this month. I also picked the Purlisse concealer and like it. By contrast, I find the Purlisse BB cream to be totally a miss for me.

If it helps, they didn’t assign either of those items to me.
