Open Envelope for Ipsy Glam Bag January 2023

Everything comes packaged snugly in the signature pink Ipsy bubble mailer.

Included is a product card that features a list of the products and any beauty tips.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme is “The Year of You.” Now, initially I was not a fan of the makeup bag included this time around. But the more I look at it, the more I’m starting to dig it. It’s definitely giving me some real 2000s pop icon vibes. Who ever thought fuzzy skirts were a good idea? Not me, lol.

Now, on to the items!

SKIN & CO. Truffle Therapy Face Toner, 30 ml - Estimated Value $4.05

Wow, I absolutely love this Truffle Therapy Face Toner by Skin & Co. I’ve had the opportunity to try it in the past, and I’ve been a longtime fan ever since. Although I’m more of a spritz toner type of gal, this is a toner I don’t mind breaking out the cotton rounds for. It’s super gentle on the skin, and it feels lightweight and not at all greasy. The moment it hits your skin, you can feel its hydration power; no worries about it stripping your skin. I didn’t experience any irritation from this product, and I quite enjoy the light scent (it gives me coconut vibes). Might I add that it’s also cruelty-free, which is a major plus for me. I apply this toner immediately after my cleansing routine, and it leaves me feeling refreshed and my skin feeling smooth and supple.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Lash Brag Volumizing Mascara, 5 ml - Retail Value $25.00

I’m not the most picky when it comes to my mascaras, but Anastasia Beverly Hills is definitely one of my go-to brands. Mascara has always been a staple in my everyday makeup look, and this Lash Brag Volumizing Mascara is pretty impressive. Besides the packaging, which is stunning, I found this mascara to do a nice job of creating volume as its name suggests. The formula goes on smoothly without any clumps or smudging, and it’s easy to customize the intensity, ranging from an everyday look to a night out. A little of this mascara goes a long way, and I love the boosted effect it gives my lashes. With a formula that’s so smooth and stays all day, it looks like I’ll be using this mascara until the very last drop. I also appreciate that it’s a true jet black shade.

REINA REBELDE Rebel Eye Definer Pencil, 1.3 g - Listed Value $17.00

I’m unfamiliar with this brand, so I was at first a slight bit skeptical. When it comes to eyeliners, I tend to prefer a gel liner because I find it easier to apply (less likely to poke myself in the eye, lol). But I have to say, I am thrilled with the quality of this Rebel Eye Definer Pencil from Reina Rebelde. The shade of the pencil is a true jet black, and despite it being a pencil rather than a gel liner, it’s incredibly smooth and creamy when applying. I’ve found some other pencils to be too harsh on my skin. The pencil does not drag at all, which means it’s very comfortable to apply to your waterline, and that is a huge bonus. The staying power is quite solid as well, lasting me for the entirety of the day before smudging whatsoever. Just beware that it does dry down very quickly, which works great for me and my overall routine.

FORMULA Z Mini Highlighter in I’m Talented, 2g - Retail Value $12.00

I love how compact this highlighter from Formula Z is, and the shade ‘I’m Talented’ is lovely. This is the perfect size for my on-the-go makeup bag, which is nice. I really enjoy the sparkle of the product. It feels very creamy and soft to the touch, with just the right amount of pigment. The formula is super blendable too, and I like how it leaves my skin with just a hint of a sun-kissed glow. What I really love about this highlighter is its inclusion of ‘Hyaluronic Z technology,’ which means it won’t dry out or get cakey even after a long day of wear. Despite its small size, this little thing packs a punch, and it’s quickly become my everyday highlighter.

HALF CAKED 808 Blender Brush, 1-pc - Retail Value $8.00

This 808 Blender Brush from Half Caked is one of the softest brushes I’ve used in a while. It’s the perfect size for blending out transition shades in your crease or to apply an all-over eyeshadow. Definitely gentle enough for my delicate eyelids. Due to the softness of the brush, it’s easy to blend out colors without any irritation. I really love that I can use this brush with pretty much any type of product, whether a powder, a cream, or a liquid. The aesthetic of this brush is one of the highlights for me. I love the look; it’s sleek yet eye-catching, and it’s going to look great on my vanity.

Verdict

I thought this was a solid month for the Ipsy Glam Bag! The highlight of this curation, for me, was Skin & Co.’s face toner. I absolutely love the formula and how quickly it absorbs into my skin, leaving me feeling refreshed and hydrated. Formula Z’s highlighter brings a stunning pop of sparkle to my complexion, and I really love how easily it makes elevating a look. The two eye products, mascara from Anastasia Beverly Hills and a defining eye pencil from Reina Rebelde, were both new to me. Despite my brief skepticism with the eye pencil, I have to say, it’s incredibly smooth and creamy and makes application somewhat enjoyable. Plus, the mascara is so buildable that I can create any look I want; from a natural one to a more intense one. Lastly, the blender brush from Half Caked is a stunning tool. Not only does it look beautiful but it also works flawlessly to blend out eyeshadow. Overall, this was a really good month. The product curation was nicely varied, and the value is there.

I have been billed twice this month unable to reach a real person. I will be cancelling my membership. Poor customer service

That bag is a lot cuter in your pics than it looked on ipsy lol. Now I kind of want it, but I skipped this month and shopped some sales instead.

The bags have been getting uglier and uglier. At least I liked what is inside it.

It’s fuzzy! That’s so cute!

I would never take it anywhere, but I would probably pull it out periodically and pet it.
