First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other. This month I did not receive a card.

The first thing I noticed about this month’s box is that it lacks any Nourish Naturals products. This occurred a month or two ago, but I thought it may have been a one-off. Perhaps the subscription is revamping a bit. Either way, I’m excited to see what products have been curated, so let’s get to it.

Now, on to the items!

SOAK Bath Co. Eucalyptus Bath Bomb, 1-pc - Retail Value $9.99

Front of Soak Eucalyptus Bath Bomb for Nourish Beauty Box December 2022

I always love the idea of using bath bombs. But unfortunately, I hate the idea of taking baths. I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I’ve just never been able to understand why anyone would want to soak in a warm cauldron of their own filth. But to each their own, of course. If you’re someone who enjoys taking baths, you’ll most likely love this bath bomb. This is the one to break out when you’ve had to cancel your latest trip to the spa.

Soak Bath Co.'s Eucalyptus Bath Bomb is delightfully scented, and it contains a high-quality combo of ingredients to bring to you a superbly relaxing bath experience. The formula also contains both coconut and avocado oils to leave your skin feeling silky-smooth and refreshed. Since I won’t be reaping the benefits of this luxurious bath bomb, I’ll be passing this along to my grandma, who happens to love taking baths, and I know she will appreciate it.

RACHEL COUTURE Marble Arch Eyeshadow Palette, 26 g - Retail Value $29.00

This Marble Arch Eyeshadow Palette from Rachel Couture is truly stunning. I’ve never heard of this vegan brand before, but I’m always happy to discover a new one. All sixteen shades of this palette are infused with botanical extracts, which I found interesting. I appreciate the range of shades that come within the palette, and I have to say, most of them are suitable for my skin tone (bonus points). There are marbled shimmery browns, matte neutrals, and stunning glitters. I’m happy to say that I found the formula to be quite smooth and buttery to the touch. This is definitely a winner for any eyeshadow superfans out there.

SUNTRIBE Mineral Day Cream SPF 20, 40 ml - Retail Value $19.99

I’ve had the chance to try this Mineral Day Cream SPF 20 from Suntribe in the past. What I love about the product is that it has literally zero scent, which is great for my sensitive skin. But when they call it a ‘cream,’ they mean it. The product is a super thick, heavy, beige-colored cream that’s perfect for creating a protective seal over your skin. It fights against harmful UVA and UVB rays, along with visible blue light (HEV). Plus, with the inclusion of UV filter zinc oxide in the formula, this sunscreen is the real deal. That being said, this is not something I can personally use on my face. For me, it’s a bit too heavy and a bit greasy. I noticed a slight white cast also lingers on my skin. But as far as providing hydration and sun protection, this product is wonderful, and while it does take a minute to absorb, it leaves behind smooth skin.

PURFECT Blue Light Protection White Truffle Hydrating Face Cream, 30 ml - Retail Value $39.00

My everyday life requires me to spend quite a bit of time in front of screens. Whether I’m in front of my computer, my tablet, my phone, or my TV, I’m in front of a screen. Even my exercise machine has a screen! So, needless to say, my skin gets a heavy dose of blue light on a regular basis. I’ve actually received this Purfect Blue Light Protection White Truffle Hydrating Face Cream before, and boy, am I thrilled to have it again.

I found this cream to be nicely hydrating while also delicate on my skin. It absorbs quickly after application and doesn’t leave behind any greasy feeling, which I very much appreciate. The cream has a lightweight, smooth texture, accompanied by a hint of a citrusy aroma that’s not at all overpowering and dissipates quickly. My face always looks fresh and buoyant after applying this cream. I love how lightweight the product is, despite the moisturizing formula, and I appreciate the added benefits of blue light protection for my skin.

Verdict

I thought this was a good month for Nourish Beauty Box! The highlight for me was Purfect’s blue light face cream. I love how hydrating it is while also maintaining a lightweight feel instead of clogging my pores. The blue light protection is a definite bonus. Suntribe’s sunscreen is a great product for protecting your skin against harmful UV rays, but unfortunately for me, using this cream on my face is a no-no. I found it to be too greasy for my sensitive skin, but when it comes to shielding my body from the sun, this is a new go-to.

The bath bomb from Soak Bath Co. is a luxurious product that I don’t often see included in subscription boxes, but due to my aversion to baths, I won’t be using it. My grandma, however, will be thrilled with it. Lastly, the beautiful eyeshadow palette from Rachel Couture… If you’re an eyeshadow lover, this palette is for you. The shades provided are versatile and span from one end of the color spectrum to the other. My personal favorites are the marbled shades for sure; perfect for creating a unique look. Overall, I thought this was a solid box! The variety of products was great, though not necessarily cohesive, and the value is definitely there.

Okay, I totally get why people are upset about what you said about baths (and I feel just as angry as them when Megan, the makeup reviewer, is constantly referring to acne as “disgusting”..like, okthx.) However, I also totally agree with you 😭😭 I don’t get it either. Me taking a bath would involve bleaching the tub (regardless of how recently it’d been cleaned), then taking a shower, then the bath. I honestly wish I could get into them, but alas. Idk, maybe I could try keeping something on hand, to reward myself with for cleaning the tub 😂😂

So they deleted the old review and did a new one? How insulting to the previous reviewer, who I really like. And there was nothing wrong with her humorous comment.

Melissa

Ha Ha! Yes, I see how that can happen. I get lost when going back and forth sometimes, too.

Melissa

This is the exact same review. What are you on about?

Kelly

Never mind! Sorry, sorry! Major wires crossed. I was looking at a different box and went back and forth too many times. (Too hard to explain.) My intention was to support the reviewer.

Looks like the same review and reviewer to me.

Oops, see my reply above. I enjoy this reviewer.

I’m with you. I don’t like baths; I think for me it’s just sitting in one small space. Makes me antsy (to use my grandmother’s word). We’re about to remove our tub for a walk-in shower. For occasional soaks – with friends! – I have my neighbors hot tub. (Now that I typed that, it sounds gross.) But, anyway, you don’t have to like baths if you don’t want to.

Some of yall complaining sound like a bunch of Karens.

Kay

That’s not nice to Karens. I think we need to find another word LOL.

This reviewer seems lovely. I doubt anyone is truly offended by the bath comment. But, I do find these reviews frustrating, mainly because however lovely Naomi seems, she doesn’t like baths, fragrances, scents, and anything cream based, which makes it so frustrating to read her beauty reviews!! So maybe reviewing beauty products isn’t the best fit! But she offers great feedback on non beauty items.

Don’t forget facial oils.

You need to reword how you feel about people taking baths, IMO you are insulting others and that is not right…..There are a lot of people who like to take baths and then there are ones who don’t….You have your right to your opinion just reword where it is not insulting people.

Nurse

I agree! I won’t read anything of hers ever again!

Melissa Baker

Yes, I agree. Even if it is a line from “Friends,” as someone suggested below, it does sound insulting. Like, consider your audience before you write something that could offend them.

I held my comment the last time you said that you think all of us who liked baths are soaking in our fifth. This time it’s a “cauldron” of filth. Just to let you know, if one bathes regularly, one is not filthy. This website has gone downhill even further. I will continue to read Kate’s clothing rental articles, Nichole’s clothing reviews, and Megan’s makeup reviews, but that will be it. If they go, so will I.

I’m tired of Nicole’s clothing reviews. In the past, MSA had a variety of reviewers with a variety of styles. Now it’s the same thing month after month and it’s impossible to get a sense of the range of styles that a service might offer. I don’t even bother with this site much anymore.

Speaking of the website going downhill………….they haven’t reported anything about what’s going on with Birchbox. I wish Liz Cadman had never sold this site.

Fleur

Agree. It’s a shell of its former self. Pity. It used to be at the top of information and had soul.

For what it’s worth, I think the line is actually stolen from an episode of Friends (Chandler said it to Monica when she’s taking a bubble bath).

I feel the exact same way about baths, I dont get the appeal at all. I love my showers and the shower steamers they have now are pretty awesome

“Warm cauldron of their own filth” made my morning! LOL
