BomiBox "Holiyay" Box Review

P’lab Time Stop Collagen Ampoule, 30 mL - Retail Value $16.60

I think I’ve used this ampoule before- only it was in different packaging? When I searched the product online it kept pulling up The Plant Base Time Stop Collagen Ampoule, which I received in a Pink Seoul box in October of 2021, and both have a high concentration of mushroom. Maybe the brand redid their packaging? My skin loves the high concentration of mushroom extract in this formula, and the addition of hyaluronic acid, licorice root, white mulberry, and prickly pear hydrate and fight visible signs of aging.

Further evidence that supports the packaging was redone is the manufactured date printed at the bottom of the box- this ampoule was made in May of this year and won't expire until May of 2025. My skin soaks the stuff up, and if this is the same product (like I’m 98% sure it is), I’m loving the packaging redesign.

Benton Aloe Hyaluron Cream, 50 g - Retail Value $19

This cream moisturizer is incredibly lightweight (most likely due to the fact that 40% of the formula is aloe), and this absorbed into my skin very quickly while still leaving it moisturized thanks to the hyaluronic acid complex that features seven different molecular weights of the hyaluronic acid we all know and appreciate. I’ve received this in a Bomibox a few years ago, but you’ll never see me sad that a full-sized Benton product appeared in a subscription box.

HaruharuXPHANTACi Black Rice Serum, 30ml - Retail Value $6.99

I’ve tried Haruharu Wonder products before, and I remember their packaging being a lot more muted. After some online digging, it appears PHANTACI is a Taiwanese fashion brand and this was a collaboration between the two companies. This serum was solid- it’s made of fermented black rice and bamboo shoots along with aloe, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin. My skin soaked this up, and I found it to be incredibly hydrating for how lightweight it was.

HaruharuXPHANTACi Black Bamboo Mist, 30 mL - Retail Value $4.99

This mist was refreshing, and I love how perfectly portable it is for travel. The nozzle on the spray  does a good job of dispersing a fine mist of product and it absorbs super quickly on my skin. This is also made with fermented bamboo and bamboo extract, and it also has beta-glucan.

HaruharuXPHANTACi Black Rice Hyaluronic Cream, 30ml (linked to set where you can buy all five minis)

This is a really nice moisturizer made with black rice and hyaluronic acid- it’s lightweight but provides a good bit of moisture for how lightweight it is, but if your skin is super parched you may need something a bit heavier. I liked the way this layered underneath my morning sunscreen when I don’t need a heavy cream (I save those for nighttime use).

One thing I didn't love is that the Haruharu products in the box all expire in May of 2023.

Atopalm MLE Cream, 8 mL - Estimated Value $2.22 (buy the 100 mL version for $27.72)

Speaking of heavier creams- this is it. This cream has a ceramide complex designed to fortify the health of your skin's moisture barrier, and it also has jojoba and green tea seed oils to help this moisturizer be incredibly hydrating. This is definitely a thick cream- my dry skin soaks it up when I apply it at night, but those with oilier skin may not love it.

Beauty of Joseon Centella Asiatica Calming Mask - Retail Value $2.50

I absolutely and truly adored this sheet mask- like "go online and buy a box of ten as soon as I was done using this mask" level of love. Typically that level of adoration is reserved for hydrogel masks, but this sheet mask is made with a tencel material that is thin and stretchy enough to hug every curve of my face perfectly, but not so thin that I rip it while unfolding it and placing it on my face. My skin loved the Centella Asiatica, green tea, mugwort, and hyaluronic acid this was formulated with- it was the perfect mix of soothing, calming, and hydrating ingredients.

Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Watergel Sheet Ampoule Mask - Retail Value $3

This sheet mask is also made with Centella Asiatica, so I was a happy camper. While I didn’t love this so much I felt the urge to write the sheet mask a love letter, this sheet mask was made of the gel material I love to wear that made wearing this sheet mask a very pleasant experience. This left my skin calm and hydrated, which is what I want a sheet mask to do.

Key Takeaways

I really like my BomiBox subscription, but this month's box felt like it was missing something. Maybe because the three Haruharu products we received are minis that I have to use within six months? I'm curious about what the other products in that set perform like. The two full-size products we received this month were good quality and worked well for my skin, and I really, really loved the sheet masks and seeing Beauty of Joseon appear again. Even though this month wasn't a perfect fit for me, as a whole I still do recommend this subscription. If you're looking for a monthly beauty box comprised exclusively of K-Beauty products, BomiBox is one of the best out there.

After reading all of your reviews I finally signed up for this box. I wasn’t happy with the Haruharu collection, packing and exp date but overall enjoyed this box. Enough to give it a go for another mont. Hoping for a great box to start the new year! Thank you for your detailed review, I love reading them. Happy Holidays.
