So is this the end of My Subscription Addiction? No FFF updates, no allure updates, etc?

OK MSA, it’s now January 6, and your site has STILL not posted Allure beauty box spoilers for January. Pathetic. They’ve been posted elsewhere for a while. It seems you want your readers to go elsewhere. Happy to oblige. Your site is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

I also couldn’t pass up the $15 offer. But this box was a dud. The Sunday Riley retinol serum caused me to have redness, pain, and dryness (extra wrinkling around the eyes, who needs that, am I right?). Google Klorane – Benzene and you’ll find out that multiple Klorane dry shampoos were found to have unsafe levels of benzene. The whish lip balm was to sticky / greasy for my preference, the nail polish was a sheer white, something I never wear. The fragrance a little too “rose” for me. Thank goodness I got that little packet of emu aid, I’m using it on my red, dry painful eyes right now.

I got the new member items and am thrilled with the box. My favorite brand of dry shampoo, a Milk product I already have and love, and a new perfume oil to try. WELL worth the full price, but I got it at a discount. I’m sticking around for next month, at least, since they let me choose an item I was happy to get from First Aid Beauty for the January box.

Julie

I just got the December box at a discount, too! How did you pick an item for January’s box?

Update: Allure is super shady. My Paypal was charged on December 18. I never received a confirmation from Allure, though, and my account shows it’s inactive. I’ve been trying to get this straightened out since December 20.

Once you are a subscriber, you log in to your account and there will be a button for you to click so you can choose the specific product you want to be included. Sorry, I don’t have all the particulars on how to do it, but that’s the gist of it. You can always call if you need help.

I ended up biting for $15. Dry shampoo will always get used, and I’m intrigued by the perfume oil. Those items and the Sunday Riley make the box worth it for me.

So glad my sub ended with the Dec box. Last 5-6 months have become increasingly random, rarely including truly seasonal items (eg: sunscreen in summer, heavy moisturizer in winter.) The last 2 boxes both included perfume as a box item which is a bad sign considering how many boxes and retailers toss samples in for free all the time. Allure, you were fun for a few years but I should have saved my money this go-around.

Hi Allison. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. Our team is always working to provide our members the greatest skincare and makeup products each month, but we recognize that everyone’s beauty routine is different, and certain items may be a better fit for you than others. We have an exciting lineup of products for the coming months. Hopefully, you will discover something new and worth raving about in the future! 💖

I tried the Dr. Pawpaw.

Disappointing.

I know it’s all the rage because the makeup artist for “Wednesday” uses it on Jenna Ortega, but what I got was stiff, stale petroleum jelly. That did not do ____ for me overnight.

It’s okay if you lay down a layer of Blistex first and don’t eat.

LeanGreenBean

That’s a bummer that the Dr. Pawpaw didn’t work for you. It worked really well for me. I was especially glad not to get the Whish lip balm again because that stuff seemed to dry my lips more than help. I agree that the Dr Pawpaw is kind of stiff, it’s a little hard to push out of the tube.

LeanGreenBean

I got the pawpaw lip mask, stick on nail set (so tacky looking up close, you can instantly tell they are plastic), and the Milk primer as my variation items. I really wish they wouldn’t do variations.

Was this your first box with allure or were you already subscribed? I’m curious bc I’ve been a long time subscriber, & was hoping for the static press ons & milk mascara. (I got the nail polish in coconut & milk blush stick)

Reply ButtonReply

Erica

I was so surprised and pleased by the static nails in lieu of the polish!

Wow, I’m actually shocked. I can always find at least one useable item in the box, but not this month! So disappointed.

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

I found this box to be very lackluster. While I did find a couple useable items, there was absolutely no “hero item.” Nothing to excite at all.

I got the nail set in place of nail polish. Everything as current member illustration.

My Milk Makeup producy was the primer.
I DON’T USE PRIMER!!

Really disappointed.

I also don’t like the press-on nails.

Pink5

Got my box today.

So disappointing.

I got the Static Nails press-ons. I’m not big on nail stuff (can’t keep a manicure to save my life), but stick-ons???

Has anyone’s box shipped yet? Last month they shipped on the 3rd of the month. I need to cancel my annual but want to wait until this last box is shipped first.

Reply ButtonReply

Jessica

My box (through Allure, not Amazon) shipped on the 3rd. I received it yesterday. It was the same as the Amazon subscriber box shown above, except I received a set of Static press on nails instead of nail polish, and a Milk hydro grip primer sample instead of mascara.

Reply ButtonReply

LeanGreenBean

My box shipped on the 3rd, which is the earliest it has ever shipped. It seems kind of random when they ship. Their shipping method is soooo slow though, so it won’t be here for a while yet.

Tanya M

I actually didn’t pause… there was nothing in the box that I have in my plentiful must use stash!! Hope I like this C serum 💕

I am actually loving this box. Amazon subscriber. Full size dry shampoo is very welcome. Especially now that I am back to the office. Don’t have time for all the hair washing. The rest looks good too

I’ve gotten a sample of the this and other Klorane dry shampoos.

They are very nice.

Does anyone who has a gift subscription have access to skipping months? I used to have a button when I had a regular subscription but with the gift subscription I don’t see one.

Why does your website NOT mention the press-on nails?

Sherry

The new member gift is the Sunday Riley serum.

I got that in a previous box.

Hoping the regular subscriber box is the same as the Amazon box.
