Sensory TheraPlay Box is a monthly subscription service for children on the autism spectrum, or with sensory processing issues. Each box is filled with sensory toys or games that help develop motor skills or address varying sensory needs through therapeutic play. We always love the fun and unique items they send each month!

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

The looked like a fun box with some familiar brands like Nee-doh and some that are brand new to us such as Clixo! You may notice a larger Clixo pack in our box here, but we were sent this by mistake. Subscribers will receive the Tiny & Mighty size which is pictured in the rest of the review!

What's Inside This Box

Each box comes with a one-page insert with photos of the items on the front and a brief description with their values on the back. It also includes contact information and a disclaimer about how it is the responsibility of the adult to determine whether the items included are appropriate for the child. As someone with a Special Education background, I love that they include this since every child is unique and responds to various stimuli in different ways! There are some items that may not be appropriate for every child depending on those needs.

They included a nice motivational card for us in our box.

OddBallz Bingsu Flyer by PlayVisions - Retail Value $9.99

This crazy-looking toy is pretty unique, but it still has the similar fun texture and filling of other OddBallz. This one has a rubbery gel ring around it which enables it to fly. We haven't tested it outside just yet (winter weather!) and there's only so much force I wanted to use indoors, so I'm not sure just how far this thing can really go, but it does fly and the soft materials mean it's a pretty safe one, too! It's also fun to squeeze and pull on since the material is stretchy and there s a little bit of texture inside the ball part.

Tiny & Mighty by Clixo - Retail Value $17.99

So my daughter declared this one of her favorite toys that she has received in a box EVER. That is high praise considering the awesome toys we have received over the years! This is one of those toys that you have to kind of see and touch to appreciate it; the little circles are magnetic and they stick to one another allowing you to create different shapes. The pieces are lightweight, kind of like thicker paper with a plastic coating over it so they bend a bit and make it easy to work with. This set only has 9 pieces, but I was impressed with the number of creations my kids came up with. They included a few different design ideas and there were plenty more ideas on their website, too. I may have immediately checked for a Black Friday sale from this brand so that we can have even more fun! This toy is perfect for visual stimulation and fine motor work, but they also mention that it's great for bilateral coordination, too!

Mac n' Squeeze by Nee-Doh - Retail Value $6.99

The presentation of this toy is so fun! This is another great one for visual stimulation with the bright colors and the soft silicone pieces are incredibly malleable and make a perfect silent fidget. You can put them on your fingers, stretch them and squeeze them!

Flipsy Farm Friends by Toysmith - Retail Value $5.99

These little soft silicone eggs flip inside out to reveal a fun farm friend! I was really hoping for that adorable hedgehog, but the yellow duck we received is pretty cute, too! My kids loved the idea of this and the act of flipping the egg and animal inside out is great work for your hands. It's also another great quiet toy to fidget with and just a bit stretchy to play with.

Tactile Suction-Cup Sensory Band – Listed Value $4.50

This is one of those examples of how simple toys just work! This band is so fun - I love the colors and there are multiple textures to check out, but what is so fun about this are those sticky little suction cups! Not only is it great for a tactile toy, but when you stick those little cups to a table or window and then rip them off, you get such a fun auditory sensation as well! The little popping sounds that you can make go slow or fast are quite addicting!

My 10-month-old is the one that loves this! It's the perfect size for his little hands and fun for him to mouth!

Doodle Pack by Wikki Stix – Retail Value $4.50

Wikki Stix will forever be a favorite in our house and I highly recommend always keeping a pack on you to help keep kiddos entertained when you need it most! These little wax sticks bend, twist, and stick together so you can create different shapes and figures and they are virtually mess-free! I love this little container and I plan to add some more from our own collection so that we can keep this set in our diaper bag for outings.

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $42.00 + shipping (Save with longer subscriptions)

The total retail value of our box using a mix of listed and found retail values comes to $49.96 which I am happy with this month considering how much my kiddos loved the toys!

Key Takeaways

This box was a great one with our favorites being the Clixo set and the sensory band, although the Mac n' Squeeze isn't far behind! My kids get so excited when this book arrives and while the excitement wears off a bit over time with some of the toys, for the most part, some of our favorite toys that we own have come from this box! It's a great way to discover new toys and of course, test out new sensory items for those who could use the additional input!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
