BoxyCharm Premium is a full-size beauty and makeup subscription box. They always provide a great value compared to the cost of the box. The box costs $39.99 per month and features 6-7 beauty items that include nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. (If you are a makeup addict - we recommend this box!)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

Here is our helpful info card with details about all of the items inside.

Now, on to the items!

Dominique Cosmetics 'The Moment' Eyeshadow palette - Retail Value $49

Sometimes you receive a palette in a box that you just feel is extra special. And this is one of those palettes. The palette packaging is drop-dead gorgeous and heavy. None of that cardboard stuff here! And it is a vibrant teal shade that hints at a feature color inside. The color story itself is both neutral and special at the same time. There are many earthy tones but don't let that fool you. The sparkling shades all have some sort of surprise shimmer that makes them super dimensional and unique, and the 4 mattes have a beautiful formula that feels anything but average. As far as I am concerned, there wasn't a dud to be found in these colors. My personal favorites include Stepping Out, Mesmerized, After Hours, and Essential.

Perricone MD No Rinse Micellar Cleansing Treatment, 4 fl oz - Retail Value $45

My next item is actually perfect for removing vibrant eyeshadows from my face while still being gentle and calming to my skin. This blue goo is a rinse-free cleanser, which makes it kind of perfect for those nights when you just want to fall into bed or even camping trips if you are that sort of fancy. Simply apply it to your skin, massage it a little and wipe it away. Micellar water latches onto dirt and makeup easily and lifts it off your skin. Even the swatches I did above were no match for this stuff! Also in this formula are goodies like brightening L-Carnitine and moisture-boosting B5. My only real issue with this stuff is the pricetag, but, hey, I will take it showing up in my Boxy!

Deluxe Hyaluronic Acid Vivifying Face & Eye Night Cream, 50 mL - Retail Value $134

I am never really excited about this brand. The pricing is just a turn-off for formulas that are, well, just fine. It is a British brand which might explain why you never see it anywhere here except for subscription boxes. And I know that price makes it appear in more premium boxes, but honestly, I would take a $40 moisturizer from a brand I knew and loved over an Avant product any day. Ingredient-wise, this one is fine. It has some of the things I would hope to see in a decent moisturizer like hyaluronic acid and shea and even has brightening ingredients like lactic acid and niacinamide. I found it to be heavy (which I do like) and overly scented (which is amazing since I love scented products). All in all, it is a fine face and eye cream, but nothing to get me super excited. Certainly not $134 excited.

Complex Culture Executive Level Mascara, 5 mL - Retail Value $28

Complex Culture is an Ipsy brand and this should turn me off, though I have never disliked anything from this line. I know subscription box brands can cause some icky feelings, but Complex Culture seems to be doing it right. This mascara is a good example of that. The formula is vegan and designed to be safe for sensitive eyes (which I can verify!). It also does a whole lot for lashes: lengthens, volumizes, and lifts. It also contains ingredients designed to improve the overall health of your lashes. Another thing I found impressive was that the formula is made in Italy and the packaging itself feels very luxe. So, even if you aren't sure about this brand, give this one a try.

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm in 'Thankful', 2.8 g - Retail Value $16

I actually love this balm formula, but this is the second time I have gotten this shade. Sadly, it looks super brown on my fair skin and isn't at all flattering. I knew this before I tried it on my lips so I planned on gifting this to a friend. Despite the wrong color, I still love this stuff. I own the clear shade and also the Rosey "Empathy" color that I wear all the time. This isn't an over-the-top sort of product. It is an affordable and nourishing balm with a little bit of color in a beautifully designed tube. And if you are a makeup minimalist, I think you are going to love the effortless application and natural vibe.

Saint Luxe Morganite & Carnelian Gel Lip Liner Duo - Retail Value $30

My last item is lacking in the "premium" department, but I find that the final items in my Boxycharm Premium curations often do. That being said, it is a decent duo of lip liners in a bright red and soft brown. Neither of these shades really fit into my overall makeup look, but I can absolutely pass them along to a gel-liner-loving pal. I give them points for pigmentation, but the longevity was basically non-existent.

Verdict

This month's BoxyCharm Premium was a winner for me. I think that palette really set the tone for my overall feelings. And it is hard not to fall in love with every shade. I also loved the rinse-free cleanser and the mascara. I am not going to hold the shade of the Rare Beauty balm against this box because I think it would be beautiful on many subscribers and I already love that formula. I could have done without the Avant cream and the lip liners, but there was enough here this month to make this curation memorable! The overall value landed at $302, which is great for the cost of the box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
