Allure Beauty Box is a $23 monthly beauty subscription from Allure Magazine. Each month they send out a mix of deluxe and full-size samples from mostly high-end brands. (It was named one of the best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers in the 2022 Subscription Box Awards.)

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

The box arrives beautifully packaged in the classic Allure white and red box.

There was also a helpful mini-magazine with more info on the products and a note from Allure's deputy beauty director Elizabeth Siegel.

What's Inside the November 2022 Allure Beauty Box

111Skin Rose Gold Radiance Booster, 20 mL - Retail Value $135

I know recieiving 111Skin products can make some MSA readers feel a certain type of way, so I just wanted to mention that my box states that my radiance booster was made in the USA for 111Skin. This booster is essentially a hydrating serum, but it is infused with a bit of pure gold to give your skin some visible glow. It's made with niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, rose flower water, gold, silver, and mica, and felt really nice on my skin when I applied it. I do think it added some luminosity too, in the same way the Glow Recipe Niacinamide Dew Drops can visibly make your skin more radiant.

Laritzy Cream Highlighter in Virtue - Retail Value $20

I definitely thought this was a cream bronzer rather than a cream highlighter when I saw this in the pan. Virtue is a true gold highlighter, and I think it would look beautiful on those with deeper complexions but I personally would only use this as an eyeshadow on my fair complexion. It did blend out pretty nicely, but I wasn't wowed.

Carlucce Brush Bundle - Retail Value $55

I actually really liked these brushes- they have straight flat edge tops and pointed sides which made them great for picking up powder and buffing it into my skin, especially for blush and setting powder with the larger brush. The bristles were really soft, and I was happy with how they performed in blending out my makeup.

L'Occitane Hand Cream, 30 mL - Retail Value $12.50

This hand cream is a classic. While I wish we had received one of the scented variations, this 20% shea butter hand cream is great at nourishing and soothing dry and irritated skin- great for these winter months ahead. I have used tubes of this hand cream up in the past, so I am sure this will get used up if my mom doesn't steal it from me first.

NatureLab. Tokyo Treatment Mask, 1 oz - Estimated Value $2.54 (buy the 6.7 oz version for $17)

Not every hair mask that calls itself a hair mask is actually nourishing enough to stand up to the demands of my curly hair- but this one performs the job nicely, which is awesome considering the reasonable price point. It's made with prickly pear oil, argan oil, and vegan keratin, and after I let it sit in my hair for a few minutes I did notice a difference in the ease of combing out the tangles in my curls.

Viktor & Rolf Good Fortune Eau de Parfum, 7 mL - Estimated Value $23.10 (buy the $10 mL version for $33)

I really like this new perfume from Viktor & Rolf, which is a good thing because one of my friends generously gifted me a 3.4 ounce bottle of the stuff. It smells nostalgically of what the perfumes smelled like when I read magazines as a teenager and you would lift open the flap to smell the perfume inside- I don't know how, but when I smell this perfume that's what it reminds me of. The scent notes are fennel-gentian flower extract, jasmine, and bourbon vanilla, and I love the purple glass packaging.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $23

Value Breakdown:

  • 111Skin: $135 → $12.51
  • Laritzy: $20 → $1.85
  • Carlucce: $55 → $5.10
  • L'Occitane: $12.50 → $1.16
  • Naturelab Tokyo: $2.54 → $0.23
  • Viktor & Rolf: $23.10 → $2.14

Key Takeaways

I thought that this month's Allure Beauty Box was a really nice one. I personally liked getting the 111 Skin serum (I absolutely adore the brand's rose gold face masks), and the brush set impressed me with the quality more than I was expecting it to. The hand cream, hair mask, and perfume weren't new to me (the perfume is actually a new launch, the gifted bottle from my friend had just arrived the day prior), but I thought all of them were good quality items. So that leaves the Laritzy highlighter as the only product I'm feeling a bit meh over, and truly 5/6 isn't bad at all. This month's box had a great overall value, too- everything adds up to $248.14, which far exceeds Allure's promised value of being a box worth more than $100.

Is it bad that I just wanted the cute lil perfume? This box is still very nice!

This box looks great. I love Allure, but apparently I’m on their “bad” list. Have tried to subscribe numerous times and a day or two later will get refunded. No explanation provided. Have tried different payment options. Nothing works.

Their CS is non-existent! I tried to unsubscribe and never did until I changed my card and they didn’t have access to a payment method.

Also, last month, I never received an October box and was subscribed through Amazon because I refuse to do business with Conde’ Nast after the above- mentioned fiasco.
The box arrived on November 15 and is what I can only describe as dismal.

In other words, IMO, you aren’t missing much at all and their service is so pathetic. I like my cheap-o Macy’s box better than Allure, and that certainly didn’t used to be the case.

Jessica, I was undecided about getting this box and skipped it on Amazon. But after reading your review, I changed my mind and got it after all. Not sure I’ll use the highlighter, but I’ll use everything else and really look forward to the 111Skin booster/serum. Good review, thanks!

Thanks for the nice review! I get my Allure boxes through Amazon and haven’t had any issues for over 3 years until this month. My November box still hadn’t shipped over a week after it usually does, so I reached out to Amazon, who referred me to Allure, who referred me back to Amazon, who, after an hour on the phone with customer service, told me that my November box wouldn’t be coming, and if I still wanted it to reorder. So I did, and got the $5 discount for a new box that Amazon offers so that was good at least. Lo and behold, once I did that, my original box AND my new box both shipped out at the same time few days later and now I have doubles of everything. Good thing I really liked the brushes, love the L’Occitane, and am at least intrigued by the 111Skin. I may keep the second subscription active and use it when I like that month’s items, since it’s easy to skip a month at Amazon when I don’t.

I beleive this is the November box, not the October……My box came yesterday and I love everything in this month box, except the Highlighter.
