What Else to Know

Here's the schedule for the FabFitFun Winter 2022 Box:

  • Annual Customization is October 28 - November 1. Seasonal Customization is November 11- November 15.
  • FabFitFun has said they will not be spoiling everything this season. "Back in the day, the box remained a mystery until it arrived at your doorstep and we want to bring some of that mystery back," they said in a post to FFF members. "As stated previously, we are going to continue to have a rolling curation throughout the season, so spoiling every product in every category is no longer the right strategy for us, as we feel it will cause more member confusion during the season. We are going to continue to rely on flexibility with our spoiler schedule."
  • They've also said they want to be more open about what they expect to sell out; "All limited supply items with a  badge in our social spoiler posts, they will also be labeled “Limited Supply” in Customization," they say, but they also "encourage you all to go into Customization with your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd option for each category. Instead of a fantasy football draft, think of it as a fantasy FabFitFun draft."
  • They also say "even in the event an item sells out within the first hour of Customization, you may still have the opportunity to grab a different product from the same brand. You never know, an item put in on day three may spark your interest more than an item that was available day one!"

I adored the green bowls , hand cream , pill organizer and shower gel.

What’s up? Spoilers? I love this site but I’m getting less updates ??? Did I do something wrong?

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

No need to love this site any longer! It is a shell of its former glory. Remember the days of hundreds of comments on spoiler and review posts, giveaways for readers especially around Black Friday, and the enormous variety of boxes reviewed? I miss that; it’s not coming back. I’ve moved on to the other site for thorough and broad sub coverage. I peek in here from time to time to see if there are improvements.
There are none from my vantage point.

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Yea, please! What is the site?

Lee

Can I ask what the other site is? I have been looking but haven’t found one I really like yet.

Melissa

I would like to know what other site offers “thorough and broad sub coverage.” HS offers some spoilers and a few reviews, but it isn’t that thorough and broad in my opinion.

This actually reminds me of Julep. It was fabulous when Jane started it and ran it, and then she sold it, and it became a shell of its former self. Same for MSA. RIP.

Laura

Wow. What’s going on? Why don’t you have any spoilers for the spring box? This place is so sad. I miss Liz.

Reply ButtonReply

Erinn

Yes, it is very odd to have no spoilers for FFF.

Reply ButtonReply

Steph

Obviously, they’re not sponsored by FFF anymore so why would they post/spoil the box for free when they’re not making any money off of them? Everyone forgets this is a business and not a fun side project.

Reply ButtonReply

Mary L.

Even if FFF booted MSA from their affiliate program, it would be short-sighted on their part to eliminate the FFF spoilers and posts. Those drive traffic, and even if you aren’t making money off FFF, the traffic is a selling point for other advertisers. Plus, people who come to the site for the FFF posts may stick around, browse other posts and buy something from a different affiliate link.

Does MSA not have an online marketing expert on staff to tell them this?

Laura

Yes! What happened?

Melissa

Ok, Steph, well then that begs the question of WHY aren’t they sponsored by FFF anymore?

Diana

What is going on with spoilers? I have never had to go to other sites for the fabfitfun Spring spoilers. So weird, but it’s the only one I am subscribed to anymore. Guess I no longer need to bookmark this site and check it weekly if there are no more spoilers for what I need.

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

What is going on with you, MSA? I’ve had to change to the other site to get spoilers and updates on most everything subscription, including FFF.

Reply ButtonReply

Nurse

Me too! It’s really disappointing!

Reply ButtonReply

JJ Casuals

FFF is having one of their biggest boxes for spring 2023, and I’m kind of wondering why MSA seems to have dropped them. Spoiler week and not a peep over here…?

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

I was just scrolling down to say the same thing. Where are the spring spoilers? This listing is even dated January 2023 but still has the winter stuff.

Reply ButtonReply

Chillybeans

Was wondering the same thing. Huge spoilers all week and crickets from this site.

Reply ButtonReply

Lindsay

Did I miss the review for the Winter box? I tried searching for it, but didn’t see anything….

Reply ButtonReply

Cari

I was a member before and I took a year off and I got the email that we could come in and shop. I was checking it out and then looking at the winter box, and it just seems like it’s the same items. I wanted to be a part of this to get new things and different products. I think this was my sign not to come back at this point unfortunately. With the price raises, I assumed a lot of the products would be new to the market.

Reply ButtonReply

Renee

I got my box and a bit of a disappointment. I thought that the bowls were mixing bowls guess i don’t know what “nesting bowls” are but they were t i n y……

Got the mini humidifier I’ll use at night – it was a bit confusing to use at first.

Got the Aquarius skin cream since I’m not a yearly person didn’t pick it. I need cream so hopefully it will be good. Got the mask also – not sure if that is good or not.

Got the lip stuff to boost the lips and I’ve had it before. Overall meh but i guess what I got in value made the box worth it. Wish I had gotten the earrings or the pillow for customization one instead of the t i n y bowls! haha

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

That Herbivore cream is great!

Reply ButtonReply

Micole

Does anyone have a starter box they’d be willing to send me? I want to get our au pair an annual subscription for Christmas, but it would be good to have something physical to wrap up while I wait for spring so she can choose items.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca B Beteag

I would be happy to send you a box.

Reply ButtonReply

Micole

Thank you! My email address is my name (comment name) then a (no spaces) at gmail. Could you send me an email so I can give you my address? Thank you so much!

Laura

If I signed up today, is there anything left for the choices?

Reply ButtonReply

Amber )-(

Sorry the hooded blankets sold out during annual customization.

Reply ButtonReply

Ro

I was about 1 hour “late” to signing in when they opened the choices for their premium members and I missed the hooded blanket. (For example, they opened choices at 9am and I signed in at 10am and they were gone already.) I then checked daily, as I thought maybe dinnertime would drop one. Nope. So I highly doubt that they have the hooded blanket now.

Reply ButtonReply

Lana

I signed up today and most of the choices were still available. The candles are sold out, and so is the mascara. But there are Unhide blankets available

Reply ButtonReply

Laura

Thanks for the info. Are there any of the hooded blankets left?

KiKi

Went to the FabFitFun website to see if they had any coupon codes currently, and saw the price has gone up to $59.99 for a seasonal subscription?? My last FFF box ordered was probably a year ago for $49.99, but did I miss a huge price jump?

Reply ButtonReply

Amber )-(

They raised the price $5 earlier this year, then raised it $5 more starting with this season.

Reply ButtonReply

m

I have been a FFF member since 2014 and in my humble opinion, this is the cheapest product box I have seen yet… I researched each item and except for the MD Perricone eye cream, the majority of the items can be found on Amazon for 10 – 15 dollars… the value is just not there. I feel zero joy when selecting items and find that management takes no responsiblility for expired items (like the K. Sommerville) serum last season… I mean a light yellow retinol serum that was brown with chunks of white in it!!! What is wrong with them! This will be my last box w/ FFF… luckily, I have found a few boxes to replace them, such as Cozyfy, I will keep Allure and need to find one more…

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

If you’re looking for skincare, See New is by far the best skincare box I have subscribed to. I have kept FFF because of all of the flash/edit sales, but this Winter box was so disappointing. Definitely the worst box I have had in the past 2 years. If this is the direction FFF is headed, I’m not sure that I’m interested anymore. I have been lucky enough to never have received an expired or rancid product, but if I did and FFF did nothing to compensate I would definitely be done. Anyone have any comments on the Kate Somerville products? Seems the sales/store are always stacked with them and it leaves me feeling that the line may be overrated?

Reply ButtonReply

Gabriella

Ugh, I have the same thoughts as Dia regarding seenew. Although I’m really, realllly hoping they are gonna come back for the Jan/Feb box. I LOVE the box 😭 Feels like we’ve been waiting forever with no end in sight.. And it’s even worse since there’s only 6 boxes a year in the first place, and I personally have to skip some of them because I have acne, and some of their boxes are NOT acne friendly. That’s my one complaint about the box.. I wish they did an acne customization where they switched out any problematic products with something that is less likely to cause breakouts. But my god, I’ll just take the regular box at this point 😭😭

dia

I think Kate Somerville is great quality skincare. They have outstanding lines for sensitive skin and acne prone skin. I don’t think they’re worth the retail price, but I always grab them when they pop up on ipsy or something.
SeeNew seems to be over. They’ve stalled their subscription box and been trying to reorganize themselves for the past half year. I don’t think they will come back as s sub. I think they’ll just be a site that sells expensive niche brand skincare.

Robn

Beachly is awesome!!

Reply ButtonReply

Lonoly

Hi! I wanted to tell you that you said everything I thought and it kind of shocked me that someone would talk the same way I do and think about the same serum! Anyway I’m messaging you to ask what boxes you’ve found like FFF because I’m done too. I have curateur but DONT DO IT!!! It’s $100 and the stuff is meh and they just won’t let me quit…

Reply ButtonReply

Kelly

So much for “FabFitFun won’t be spoiling everything”. Today’s customization choices were exactly the same as spoiled. No surprises. I really was hoping for something more in category 4. However, I’m happy with what I chose overall – wine opener, utensils, slippers, L’occitane cream, Espa & First Aid bundle, Herbivore moisturizer, with Aceology & sheet masks added. Not my favorite box of all time, but I’ll use everything.

Reply ButtonReply

Colleen C

The wine opener saves me so much time and trouble, got it in a past box.

In regard to the “surprise” items…Keep in mind, many ppl want to research items before it comes to selecting what they want. Fff’s new approach only causes more ppl to hoard more items until they can decide/look them up, & that’s my problem with it. It’s a ridiculous excuse for not ordering enough product and coming up with a reason they actually think we’re stupid enough to fall for. Most of the “surprises” are likely throw back items, but they’re sometimes things we’ve never seen in the box, so that more of a reason to know beforehand what may be a choice. Esp. given fact ppl have allergies/sensitivities etc. AND FFF’s descriptions are HORRIBLE and often omitting important info or outright INACCURATE. So it requires one to research elsewhere- esp. beauty items, but anything really has to be verified. If you’re not-you should… but their 3 sentence descriptions and 10 sec vids are almost worthless. Ugh 🤦‍♀️
Also, I don’t think There’s ANYTHING wrong with “complaining” or saying something negative. Ppl are sharing their opinions, some will like it and others will not. It’s helpful to share opinions to see if other agree/don’t. Of course it’s more useful if ppl explain why… but if you are happy and feel you’re getting value for your money, then great! Good for you, seriously. Others feeling less enthused will appreciate seeing feelings validated by others just like ppl excited abt the box. But there’s plenty of reasons to be disenchanted.
I for one am mixed, I’m happy there’s SOME home goods/kitchen items, they’re just a bit boring, and not likely to be new to someone’s home. Those are the things ppl look for a lot from sun boxes. I’m frustrated that they can’t get imagination or think what ppl would want but perhaps not buy for themselves, or would want more of, or would freshen up their home life, solve a problem or be a “wow! product”. These sun boxes are connected and able to choose from a hugely wide range of items that they could offer but they’re picking items w/ less “value” and less attractiveness for a number of reasons- against customer request/feedback. It seems like trying to overly increase profit margins.
In surveys I receive or when cancelling seasonal memberships I would always give the same feedback abt desiring increased variety, things that are realistically consumable or easy to use up as opposed to constant face masks/serums & eye creams etc… Most importantly, what I & others I know appreciate above all are useful/utilitarian products and home goods, as well as things related to productivity and organization; however what subs are usually valued most for is giving one the opportunity to try things that are “novel” or somewhat trendy/popular– for ex, when I gave my family dryer balls for Christmas ~2-3 yrs ago, I had already seen them promoted and talked abt but I didn’t try them until I got or bout some from that other notorious sub C-box/Allfraud, and they were great for me. I thought this is why I love these sub boxes. When I got the little hand held electric mixer in FFF they had been around for quite a while, but it was so handy and my husband loved it for his protein shakes and that’s the only time in recent history I think I had that feeling from fff (besides getting the unhide blanket but that was a whiiile ago). Actually the “green”/eco friendly products I was able to try in that other lifestyle box (which shall not be named) we’re really great & actually solved a “problem” or made things convenient & helped me use less single use plastics. We don’t see those things in fff… They had dryer balls in the summer or fall box and that’s years after I was already late to the game trying them from the other sub. Fff just doesn’t seem to want to get subs attention and be valued/appreciated for exposing them to cool, new, items that make life easier/convenient or less wasteful etc. but they COULD! How about an auto soap dispenser for the sink?? Silicone food storage bags, or the uber-popular items we see on amazon sales like the chom-chom pet hair remover, the “magic” blue apple that makes produce last longer (w/ v. economic refill packs), or even the things we see are obvs popular in fff add ons or sell out quickly- jewelry, walking weights, dresser drawer organizers, meal/day planner bundles, baskets & hampers, small wall shelves & plant hangers, bamboo sheets, pantry canisters/bin organizer sets, & hair clips; yet we VERY RARELY see such things in the actual box. Even Lilly Pulitzer items & sorbus containers are still popular in addons… but we see something like that little black and white rug which was a big hit bc of it’s versatility…never to see another one. How much sense does that make? NONE
So any chance I get, I ask for more home goods and decor, as well as kitchen & organization items… Utilitarian things, and those that have some versatility in terms of use & flexibility in terms of person/household or placement. There’s no reason why they can’t offer small decorative shelves and indoor/outdoor wall hooks, small plant pots, door mats/rugs, window coverings, coffee table books(fashion, decor or beauty related), book ends, acrylic drawer/beauty organizers, nesting bins, baskets & boxes that are textile or plastic, jewelry stands/organizers, plastic pantry/fridge organizers, as well as electronic gadgets or smart home items, spice mixes & cook books… there’s a myriad of items they’ve never or rarely included; and things they have offered that were incredibly popular and well received & reviewed… never to be seen in the box again- but then we see many of the same types of things things over and over and over… what gives?!?
Since many sub box fans prob get beauty boxes atleast occasionally, if they’re into that stuff…They also need to focus on offering things that are actually “consumable”- instead of always offering makeup palettes, face lotions, masks, serums… I’d prefer to see more products like The Laundress laundry detergent, nice coffee/tea, perfume samplers/sets, floral/fruity essential oil, scented home wax melts, shower steamers & bath bombs (just not eucalyptus🙄), hand/foot masks, and other body care items like spray toners, chem. exfoliators, nice shaving creams…
And what’s up with seeing the EXACT SAME beauty products in FFF and Ipsy and Boxycharm- it’s one thing if it’s a few Kate Somerville products which is likely all overstock, bc I have no complaints about more premier brands being offered at economical prices… But to see some of these products that are seemingly in house brands for Ipsy, or brands I haven’t heard of/know are not as popular, or have only EVER seen in one of the boxes appear in the other- for ex: spongelles that are labeled specifically as by scents “made as a collab with fff” (which is what first got my attn), or items popping up in these beauty subs right after theyre in fff (& vice versa) or then theyre in the addons of fff…
Others have mentioned it inReddit as well, & I’m starting to wonder if these subboxes are more related/connected then I once thought… it’s not one of those situations where a brand is selling to all the sub boxes ag the same time, it’s hard to explain unless you’ve seen it… It’s just something that seems a bit shady. Especially since companies don’t usually try to appear in multiple boxes arnd the same time bc of consumer perception or boxes competing, & worries of cheapening the brand or customers becoming unwilling to pay full price etc.
It’s Just something I suggest paying attn to esp. where it concerns the beauty products/brands.

I’ve seen a lot of “Real Her” branded color cosmetics in past FFF. Is ” Real Her” a FFF brand? I am not going to search because then I get spammed by that company, the last thing I want as I do not like the formulations of the Chinese- made cheap brand.
I am asking because I don’t even look now at FFF box reveals and it’s freeing,

You are right! There ARE some products in the choices that deserve investigation. One is the humidifier. If someone fills it with tap water, they may become very ill from aerosolized mold or fungi spores growing in 24 hours or so. Use distilled water in the gallon jugs or a water purifier that’s fresh. ( Brita or one of the other brands found almost everywhere).
Also, there are some fairly high acids in a few skin preparations. I learned the hard way that they usually should not be layered, Maybe not buying more until what is on hand is used is a good way to prevent accidental overload. 🙂

I agree, there was no info about the candles whatsoever.

What is everyone liking in Categories 3 & 6? I’m hoping to get inspired and want something in those categories.

Definitely the This Works scented spray in category 6! I have the deep sleep body cocoon lotion by them and it smells amazing as well as being a great hydrator for sensitive skin. I’m very picky about lotion because my skin gets so dry it cracks in the winter. Most lotion has scents that make my hands itch and break out in hives if they are already very dry. Avon silicone glove is one of the only options besides this product that actually works and doesn’t cause me to feel like I’m torturing myself. Also, it says that they tested this using pretty advanced technology to create a relaxed happy brain! I’m sold! In the third category I’m not too impressed with any option. I know everyone loves the mascara and lip plumper but the mascara looks like spider legs easily if you put a bit too much on and the lip plumper I just don’t need (it does work though, if you want something that does). I might ask if I can switch an item in a different category because I have had many issues lately with products that don’t work or clothing that already has ripped seams. I talk to their customer service people way too much. They usually resolve my issues promptly and are fantastic at fixing mistakes, I just hate contacting them constantly because I feel like they’re starting to think I’m scamming them. I guess it would make sense that a lot of customers have similar issues too. Overall, I love the box and have only had like one or two issues I was unhappy with the resolution, otherwise they go above and beyond and often I end up with free items because they don’t have me send back mistakes they make! But try the This Works! I think you’ll love it!

In 3 I’m getting the kitchen scale as the one I have is kind of gross and abused after over 10 yrs of use. In 6 I’m getting the Retinol toner – I haven’t used Retinol much yet (age is 33) and I learned you should start it easy and with a low concentration – a simple Retinol toner seems like a good beginning.

Honestly I’m happier with this than with fall. There are a few things I’ve been meaning to buy, like a sweater shaver, hair flyaway product, and those kitsch microfiber scrunchies. And I like that a lot of the items have easy packaging, like the spray makeup remover. When I’m tired and want to get ready for bed, I like pumps and sprays rather than fiddling with a lot of jars and things. That vest is really unfortunate though. They couldn’t even do a color? Wouldn’t nearly anyone prefer a Uniqlo vest, which is cheaper, comes in a million colors, and actually has some fluff in it?

Hey I’m looking at the pepper milk. Where does the pepper come out of the shaker? The little plastic lid on the side?

Wow. I see a lot of things I’d like, but I actually find it stressful not only to have so many items to choose from, but to know offerings may change during the customization. It feels like FFF is either having issues with supply or that they are trying to please everyone a bit too much. Personally, I think it was better when there were only two to three quality choices in each category, plus maybe a popular throw-back to have a second chance at something you missed. I’m going to have to really talk myself out of some of the items!!!!

I am down to two subs (from sooo many!) and this is the only lifestyle type box I still get. I’m still annual so I’m okay with what I’m seeing spoiled above. A few brands I haven’t tried yet (organic lipstick, an item I wouldn’t buy for myself but nice to try a new brand and shade), a few favorites, overall it’s an okay assortment to pick from if you’re already locked in anyway. I see at least a couple of xmas-gift-no-brainer items, too. At 50-ish bucks, it’s still a good one if they have items you actually want. I was thinking about getting a trunk organizer and I loooove my unhide blankets and pillows. Happy to get another one. Also a fan of First Aid Beauty, Karuna masks and Beekman. So yeah, overall I’m okay with the spoilers. They probably won’t make new subscribers bite but yeeesh, subbers are so fickle these days! Agree with a few others here that PopSugar was the hey day of sub boxes. I miss them the most!

Completely agree! This is one of my last three subs. I’m winding out of an annual on FFF and Ipsy. When theY are done, that’s it on lifestyle and beauty. I will keep one sub, and that’s Bargain Bead Box for my jewelry making. Other than that, I will be out of the sub box business. I like the spoilers for this FFF.

I cancelled. Last two boxes by the time seasonal picked the stuff I wanted was gone and I had to pick things I disliked least. At $55, since beginning of the year, I wasn’t getting the value. I’m going to miss unhide but I guess I’ll just watch their site and buy if they have a sale.

So miss the swap site with these choices.

I highly recommend the Laneige lip balm, it’s the best balm I’ve ever used.

Colleen Ouimette

Thank you! Was considering that option because I am not impressed with any of the others and my lips are too large as it is, so the plumper is a no go. I already have it and don’t use it. Overall option three is my least favorite I saw.

Megan

They raised the price but these options are awful.

I realize that it’s nothing to write home about – certainly nothing here that would convince me to re-subscribe – but on the other hand, I like Better Than Sex and FAB and with a couple of the other choices that I like, though don’t love, it would be worth it to me, in cost terms. Still, the wow factor isn’t there and I’m pretty much over FFF. Have been for awhile.

Agree, I’d be ok with these choices if I was an annual sub. But, not enough to resub.
