First Impressions

September is here, and along with that is the start of school for my boys, and work for me. After a busy summer our schedule has been tossed to the wind, forcing us into early bedtimes and homework routines. While I do love fall and know a schedule is important, the anxious part of me has been yearning for a tiny bit of alone time to collect my thoughts, which means "bring on the hot baths and candlelight!" I discovered Vellabox quite a while ago now, and my taste in candles has been completely uprooted. Gone are the days of scouring the Bath and Body Works scents, and here are the ones where I check my email for Vellabox spoilers! Switching to natural, toxin-free candles has been a total game changer, and while I now may seem like a candle snob, we have had to change our furnace filter less often and I have discovered that these candles have a longer burn time than their cheaper counterparts, actually saving me money in the long run. Along with the candle, you also receive a surprise gift, a Spotify playlist, and a card with an inspirational quote to make this box an entire experience.

This month's candle maker is Authenticality Co. which was founded on the idea that everything is better in its purest form. Using eco-conscious ingredients, their products are hand-poured and crafted in coastal Virginia. With notes of sandalwood, amber, and vanilla, this beautifully subdued candle doesn't have a huge scent throw but gives off the most sensual vanilla aroma. The wispy flame paired with the slow burn is exactly what I need to calm me down after a long, stressful day, and I am really appreciating the umber-colored jar and abstract logo. Perfect paired with a romantic movie and side of popcorn, I am all about this Introvert candle!
I love the fact that this box features a different candle maker each month. Not only do we receive a background story on each candle maker, but we also received a coupon code, and a QR code for easy re-purchase.

One of the cities I frequent for groceries recently passed an ordinance requiring a five-cent charge for carryout bags, and because I am cheap (and want to help the environment), I have started using reusable ones. Smaller in size than some of my larger totes, this "away we go" version is perfect for fruits and veggies, and even has a pouch to fold itself into for easy storage. With a wipeable surface, it is easy to clean, and is just plain cute. Loving the usefulness of this item, I wouldn't mind if this was a repeat in the future.
Was This Box Worth It?

Vellabox never ceases to impress. Not only is this month's "Introvert" candle one of my favorite scents to date, but the even, clean burn is something you don't find with big brand candles. I know that these small-batch candles are more expensive than some of the decadent smelling versions at T.J. Maxx, but you literally get what you pay for, and this is one area I am okay splurging in. Not only was this month's candle a hit, but I also really liked the usefulness of the tote bag. This month's curation was fantastic, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for next month.
