TONYMOLY Monthly Bundle August 2022 Review

Jessica Hapak
ByJessica HapakSep 9, 2022 | 16 comments

TONYMOLY is a popular K-Beauty brand known for their fun packaging and affordable products.Along with being found in stores like Ulta and Macy's, plus K-beauty subscription boxes, they also offer a monthly bundle of products at a discount!

This is a review of the August Monthly Bundle, which is sold out. You can buy the September monthly bundle here.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

This box came packaged inside a plain brown box, but when I opened it up I found the items neatly tucked inside wrapped with tissue paper and sealed with a sticker that says "your monthly bundle is here."

It was cheaper to add a mask to my order for a total of $50.50 because shipping is free at $50 rather than pay the $7.50 shipping charge. Since I am newly ENGAGED, I chose this hand mask because my cuticles need to be in tip top shape for all of the ring photos I have been taking!

TONYMOLY August 2022 Monthly Bundle Review

Cat's Purrfect Night Mask, 50 g - Retail Value $19

I love cats. I love that there is a cat boldly displayed in the packaging of this sleeping mask. It’s fun and unique and it’s exactly what I expect from TONYMOLY and I just love it. Formula-wise, this is made with silk aminos, niacinamide, apricot kernel oil, ceramide NP, and royal jelly extract. It has a bouncy gel-cream texture that’s on the thick side, and it’s fun to massage it into my skin. I do think it was hydrating to my skin and left it soft, which is what it was designed to do while looking cute displayed on my vanity.

Moisture Boost Cooling Algae Eye Serum, 15 g - Retail Value $22

Find me an eye cream with cuter packaging. I’ll wait. This eye serum is true to its name- it’s incredibly lightweight and has a gel texture that melts into water when I tap it into my skin. It’s enough for the daytime, but if I was going for a really nourishing routine I would layer this under a heavier cream. Standout ingredients include cica, algae extract, and multiple weights of hyaluronic acid.

I'm Lavender Lullaby Sleeping Mask, 100 mL - Retail Value $15

I was a huge fan when TONYMOLY released their line of $15 masks- I own several full-size jars, but this was my first time trying the lavender lullaby version. It’s made with lavender flower water and lavender oil and also has soothing aloe, chamomile, calendula, and turmeric. It does have a noticeable lavender scent that I personally like (I think it adds to the experience and reminds my mind that it’s time to relax and go to bed), but I don’t find the smell to be overpowering and it fades quickly once this is massaged in. It has a midweight cream texture- I honestly was expecting something a little heavier, but it’s still hydrating.

Floria Brightening Peeling Gel, 150 mL - Retail Value $13.50

This is an exfoliant made with floral and fruit extracts rather than microbeads or large scrub particles that can be harsh on your skin. It’s designed to both gently exfoliate and leave your skin brighter in appearance, and star ingredients include fermented lotus flower water, pearl powder, and Korean plum extract. I’ve never been huge on peeling gels, but I really like TONYMOLY’s top tip to try this out anywhere on your body you may have rough skin like elbows, knees, and the heels of your feet- I honestly had never thought of that.

Minions Lip & Eye Remover, 250 mL - Retail Value $16

This is a fantastic makeup remover for waterproof mascara and stubborn matte lipstick. Yes, the packaging is fun and I love the difference in color in the bi-phase oil and water formula, but that color actually serves a purpose. You shake this to mix it well before using it, and once it’s well-mixed and homogenous the entire bottle is a light pink- that’s how you know it’s ready to go. I apply it to cotton pads and then place those on top of my eyelids where I leave them in place for a few seconds before gently massaging in circles, and this has helped me to successfully remove waterproof mascara better than my standard double cleansing routine- without any eye irritation.

Peach Hand Sanitizer Gel, 50 mL - Retail Value $4

I never really quite know what to say when a hand sanitizer comes in a box- it’s hand sanitizer. It mostly smells like alcohol but does have a peach smell that lingers once the alcohol scent fades away, and I didn’t find this to be offensively drying the way some other hand sanitizers can be.

Minions Moisturizing Hyaluronic Acid Sheet Mask - Retail Value $4

Truly, I find the TONYMOLY x Minions product line collaboration to be adorable- I was happy we received two products from the line in the August bundle. I’ve actually personally purchased this mask twice before receiving it in this set, and I find it quite fun. It has some minion-themed images printed on the mask itself, and it fits my face like a (comfortable) glove. The star here is hydrating hyaluronic acid, and I really enjoy the mask for the twenty or so minutes I wear it (and the fun selfies I can take with it).

Master Lab Collagen Sheet Mask - Retail Value $4

I’ve tried quite a few TONYMOLY sheet masks over the years, and while none of them have ever been bad, I think the master lab sheet mask line is their best line for non-hydrogel sheet masks. I always find the formulas to be effective at deeply moisturizing my skin and soothing any sensitivity I may have going on, and the sheet mask material is slightly softer than the material used in their I’m Real sheet mask line. This Master Lab Collagen sheet mask was no exception- it was a real treat for my skin.

I'm Cherry Blossom Sheet Mask - Retail Value $3.75

The I’m Real sheet mask line is a classic from the TONYMOLY brand- I think at this point I have tried every variation offered when you combine my personal experiences with masks that have come in subscription boxes. The sheet mask material is basic- it’s not uncomfortable, but it’s not plush by any means. It’s well-saturated with a chosen essence (all of them hydrating), and I like that this one is formulated with cherry extract, hyaluronic acid, collagen, allantoin, and panthenol- my skin soaks it up. When I was done using this mask my skin was hydrated and had a soft glow, so I consider this to be a winner.

Value - Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $45

Cost Breakdown:

  • Night Mask: $19 → $8.44
  • Algae Eye Serum: $22 → $9.78
  • Sleeping Mask: $15 → $6.67
  • Peeling Gel: $13.50→ $6
  • Lip & Eye Remover: $16 → $7.11
  • Hand Sanitizer Gel: $4→ $1.78
  • Minions Sheet Mask: $4 → $1.78
  • Collagen Sheet Mask: $4 → $1.78
  • Cherry Blossom Sheet Mask: $3.75 → $1.67

Verdict

I love that I can always count on TONYMOLY to create fun products in cute packaging with formulas that actually do something. Sure, these aren't going to be miracle products. But a little hydration here, a little exfoliation there? That's 98% of my skincare routine, but 97% of my products aren't nearly as cute as the ones that came in this set. TONYMOLY promised a value of $101 for this set, and according to my math everything adds up to $101.25. I definitely recommend getting a sheet mask or hand mask to reach the $50 free shipping threshold rather than pay for shipping outright if you grab a bundle, but hey- that's just me. This would be a fun way to get discounted skincare to give as a present to someone, but I am always an advocate for treating yourself- you deserve presents too.

To Wrap Up

Hi Lilly A,
This is one of the most heartfelt comments I have ever received 🥲. Thank you dearly for your kind words.

I’ve been reading your reviews since the old days of bath bombs when you ended up with a stained bathtub from red and purple bombs or a single super- dyed bomb. I wanted to tell you that plain Clorox bleach gets stains out of bathtubs ( and white countertops and sinks) but was too shy to post. 🙂

We have a lot of the same sensibilities ( possibly because we are both southern ladies?)
You have worked hard and remained lighthearted and grounded in your life goal pursuits and you are just spectacularly.
I will always be glad I have known you through this corner called ” MSA”.
I hope you will always stay true to yourself because I believe you have great instincts and values. 🙂

Not sure how long you’ve been dating your guy, but it is an adjustment to be a newlywed. Just try to laugh through the differences that will come up and compromise WITH HIM in a way that makes you happy, not regretful.
See? “Grandmere’ advice”. Sorry, but it was extremely difficult for me to learn to not sweat the small stuff, which almost everything of conflict between a couple is if love is strong and steady. Neither of you is going to remember what the paint shade you might have argued a bit over actually looks like in 5 years, probably not in a year, so narrow the choices down to shades you both like, even if it’s not your ” dream ” color this year. 🙂

So much admiration,
Lilly

Jessica and all who love Tony Moly,
Did you see the new TM Plump-kin Retinol eye cream in a tiny pumpkin? Full size is on sale for $19. Or choose pumpkin patches ( ha ha) for the eyes at the same price. 🙂

I am SO, SO happy for your engagement!! I have followed you here as an older lady who is still amazed by subscription boxes, and I have silently cheered you on through law school, and to a young adult mature life for age.

You have amazed me with your lively spirit and always intelligent commentary. I love that you generally love K- beauty products. Please review Pink Seoul Plus box if possible. It is fantastic, IMO, and deserves mention more often. 🙂

I don’t even know where the forum is but would really like to see your ring. 🙂
Best wishes for a long and very happy life as a career woman of importance and a loving wife ( and possibly mother someday). Congratulations to your fiance’ on choosing a darling girl for his bride.

You could be either my daughter or almost my granddaughter ( I will never have either one) and my hope for your life to be beautiful in all ways is tremendous.
With enormous respect,
Lilly A.

Thanks for the review! This is such a nice box! I’m sorry I missed it. Is the packaging always so cute?

Hi Anita!
Some packaging will be cuter than others for sure. I think the August box is especially adorable while the September box is a little more plain. Luckily, you’ll know what’s exactly in the box before you make your purchase so you get to decide for yourself 🙂
