IPSY Glam Bag Plus is a $28 per month subscription box from IPSY. Every month you’ll receive five full-sized beauty products. The box will have a retail value of at least $120. (This box was voted as one of the best makeup subscription boxes and best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers!)

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

As always, my goodies arrived in the pink IPSY bubble mailer and a drawstring bag. The design is purple with holographic words of encouragement.

Also worth noting: I didn't make choices this month to see what kind of assortment would arrive!

Here is the info card.

Now, on to the items!

Selfless by Hyram Retinol & Rainbow Algae Repair Serum, 1 fl oz - Retail Value $30

I am surprised more items from The Inkey List don't pop up more often in subscriptions. It is such a solid and affordable brand focused on no-frills but high-performing skincare. It honestly reminds me a lot of The Ordinary. Selfless by Hyram is a collection built by The Inkey List with skincare influencer Hyram Yarbro. Yarbro has millions of followers and though I have never been one of those before (I'm old and really bad at TikTok) I can appreciate his approach to skincare that is worth the hype and worth your $$$. This formula has a pretty short ingredient list and contains goodies like retinol, vitamin E, squalane, and rainbow algae (said to help fade dark circles). I think this is a really nice product for anyone newer to retinol, but if you have been using them for years, it isn't going to hold a candle to an Rx-grade cream or a higher-performance over-the-counter formula.

Araceli Beauty Monarca Mascara in Black, 9.9 mL - Retail Value $19

Another day, another mascara. At least I really liked this one! It is one of those mascara formulas that is incredibly smooth and flake-free. I think this is mostly due to the avocado oil inside. I found that it did a really great job at coating my lashes and adding length and volume that I didn't feel was too over the top. I am a one-coat sort of gal, but if you want more drama, I would try a second.

ODACITÉ Mon Ami Facial Acupressure Beauty Tool - Retail Value $19

I was super excited to try this little device! Like, how cute?? It is a rose gold-colored metal design and quite heavy for its tiny size. One end features a rounded head and the other is a swooped sort of spatula shape. Tools like this are deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and specifically, acupressure. Because this piece is made out of solid metal, it already feels much cooler then room temperature on your skin. Need more chill? Put it in the fridge for 30 minutes then use it to gently apply pressure to the points mentioned in the instructions inside the box. Different points target things like puffiness, dark eyes, and more. I recommend uding that scoop end to dispense your favorite cream before you use this for a great combo, especially before bed!

KITSCH Microfiber Towel Scrunchies  - Retail Value $18

I was SO HAPPY to see these inside my bag. Sure, two scrunchies may not be everyone's idea of the best item to receive in their Ipsy Plus bag, but I have really long and thick hair. I also never blow dry it, mostly because I am lazy and my cat chewed the cord of my last hairdryer, which makes me very scared to ever use it again. I also shower at night which means I go to bed with wet/damp hair. These scrunchies are made out of super absorbent towel material and seriously help wick away a lot of the water left in my hair after I towel dry. They are also very soft and help prevent the sort of breakage that often happens with hair elastics. I am obsessed with these.

Natasha Denona Cupid Cheek Duo - MIA!

You might have noticed that my group shot only includes 4 items this month and that is because Ipsy forgot to send me what is arguably the most hyped item I would have received this month. I reached out to them to see if they could reship though, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Verdict

This month's IPSY Glam Bag Plus somehow managed to be amazing, despite a high-value item never arriving in it. I am so in love with my scrunches and the little acupressure tool. These are very cool things to now own and they both fit into my sort of self-care routine perfectly. The mascara was another hit due to its gentle and effective formula. And I loved testing out a product from The Inkey List, finally. While I hope your bag arrives complete, know that if you received any of the items I did, you are in for a treat.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll start with October as your first month. As of publication, there was no IPSY waitlist!

Cost Breakdown: This box costs $28, meaning each of the 5 items has an average cost of $5.60. I didn't receive all 5 this month which drops that average value to $7. Still pretty good.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

To AH:
Yes, I found 7 or 8 of the early Margot Elena boxes, perfect and unopened, in one of my beautiful guest suites which haven’t been used since my relatives passed away. We have a very large house and some areas are used for storage of things I put away, planning to use, but never get around to it. This was the case with the Margot Elena boxes and PSMH boxes as well.

It was difficult to go into the organized closet space and see what I had put there but the boxes were a sweet little treat to find.
If you have a question or comment about this, have your say.

I am NOT a hoarder, but have way too much space where things are safely tucked away. My house is neat but I do store things in the numerous closet spaces.

I’ve received the Natasha Denona blush duo twice from Boxycharm and you’re not missing a thing, IMHO. I found the pigment to be lacking and the cream picks up any foundation you’ve applied underneath.

The entire Selfless by Hyram line is especially wonderful for anyone with oily, combo leaning oily, acneic skin. I’m not in that demographic but do use the salicylic acid serum to help with enlarged pores and the occasional monthly break-out and it works tremendously well. The retinol and rainbow algae serum is my rest retinol for when I take a break from my usual, stronger retinol. It’s gentle yet effective. The line itself is especially wonderful for young folks in need of a first skincare regimen and I recommend it regularly on a professional level (am a nurse and a barber).

I got those scrunchies in my Beautylish Lucky Bag this year and have been wearing them ever since! I found a set of them at Marshalls for $5.99 and bought them as I’ve found they don’t last too long before the elastic gives out. I wore mine for about 4 months (every other day) before it felt pretty stretched out. I have a lot of hair though!

I ordered the blush as an add-on and also didn’t receive it. They told me they were out of stock and refunded me. Did anyone get it?

I received 2 GBP and 2 of the Natasha Denova blushes, same shade as pictured. In fact. my GBP bags were almost identical, but full of skincare goodness.
I think the box they sent Megan, even lacking the ” lackluster” blush ( I haven’t tried mine because no way I can wear poppy color on my very fair cheeks) is a VERY SLIM PICKINGS BOX!!

I am trying so many new boxes because I dropped both IPSY and their Boxycharm brand as well. Just tired of Boxy’s deliberate untruth-telling CS people.

Plus, my interests are more K- beauty skincare, fun and luxe bath/ shower boxes and Margot Elena, not old stock that smells rancid from the warehouse cleanouts. I peeked inside one of the very first Margot Elena boxes yesterday, the Christmas one with the china tumbler, robe, and kissing bell and it’s so perfect I just sealed the lid again without disturbing a thing.

Good luck to all who stay subscribed to Boxy and/ or IPSY.

I’m curious as to what you meant by the “peeked inside one of the first…” – do you mean that you still have all the products still in the box?

I would be so excited about those scrunchies! I have really thick and curly hair and I stopped blow drying it like 6 months ago so I also go to bed with it wet/damp often. These scrunchies seem perfect for that!

The scrunchies can be found everywhere and are fun unless you have extremely thick long hair like I do, and many other people as well. My hair would NEVER air dry!
However, there are wonderful stretchy terry cloth or microfiber poofy ” beanies” for lack of a better word that hold a huge amount of very thick hair up and dry it naturally. NOT attractive, but work wonderfully! Found on Amazon in packages of 3 for almost nothing. I thought I had straight hair before I started using these but nope, I have medium curly hair. It’s never been air dried naturally before recently. 🙂
