I am a self-proclaimed candle hoarder as they not only freshen a room, but also help keep my anxious thoughts at bay. After years of use, I have discovered not all candles are created equally, and have now switched to natural, toxin-free versions. While a bit more spendy, they not only keep our furnace filter cleaner, but leave me feeling better about having them in my home. After stumbling upon Vellabox, I have discovered many artisan makers that create clean and safe products without sacrificing fragrance. After completing my scent profile, I have utmost faith that I will be matched to fragrances I am sure to enjoy. Along with the candle, I also received a surprise gift, a Spotify playlist, and a card with inspirational quotes and candle information.
What's Inside the Box
Nightshift Wax Co. "Night Drive" Candle - Retail Value $15.00 - $48.00

This month the featured candle maker was Nightshift Wax. Co. After suffering years from allergies, Samantha Cipriani started making artisan candles from her home in St. Petersburg, Florida. Using hypoallergenic and plant-based materials, she produces clean and safe products for your home and body. This month there were three different scent options include: Night Drive (for fans of floral + fresh), Arches (for fans of woodsy), and Golden Teakwood (for fans of citrus). Perfect for the throes of summer, I received Night Drive, and it is the perfect blend of botanical, amber, floral, and leather. After lighting this for the evening, and then heading outside, I really could distinguish some of the night scents of fresh cut grass and dew in this candle, and I loved it! Poured in a dark brown jar, it's not quite as minimalistic looking like the clear jars, but still worked with my personal decor. The scent throw isn't quite as far as last month's candle but did leave my living room smelling like my yard, which is exactly what I had hoped for.
I love the fact that this box features a different candle maker each month. Not only do we receive a background story on each candle maker, but we also received a coupon code, and a QR code for easy re-purchase.

Saguaro Cactus Car Fresheners – Retail Value $16

Car fresheners are something I don't typically think about purchasing until I jump into someone else's vehicle and notice how nice they smell. With a car full of boys, I have some generic lavender scented ones that lost their scent months ago, so I was quite excited to receive these square cactus ones. Verrryy potent, I really picked up the botanical notes of this freshener, particularly the moss and aloe scent. Because the scent was so strong, I had to place it in part of the packaging again, to not be overpowered. Really lovely overall, I was happy to receive two, and would be interested to try their other scent options in the future. What a smart inclusion!
Was This Box Worth It?
The Cost: $38
Vellabox was amazing this month. I am a small-batch candle addict, and though they generally are more expensive, are worth it to me for the health benefits and safety of my family and home. While I think I would have enjoyed any of this month's fragrances, the Night Drive fragrance was the perfect fragrance for a summer evening and really does smell like fresh cut lawn. Paired with the two Saguaro Cactus Car Fresheners, and I was one happy camper. Overall, I felt this was a wonderfully useful and relaxing curation and am already looking forward to next month's theme.
