Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $13 per month, you get five full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box — the value and sample sizes are amazing. Just like Birchbox, Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month — so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!

First Impressions

Open Envelope for IPSY June 2022

Everything comes packaged snugly in the signature pink Ipsy bubble mailer.

Included is a product card that either has a list of the products and any beauty tips.

Each month, Ipsy subscribers get a makeup bag in addition to their items. This month’s theme is ‘Show Your Colors,’ highlighting bold styles and vibrant shades, and I’m super excited to see what kind of looks this product curation is going to serve up. I really enjoy the bright yellow of this bag, and the hardware is a cute orange slice; perfectly fitting for the summertime and absolutely adorable.

Now, on to the items!

SOPHIA + MABELLE Satin Powder Highlighter in Peach Sangria, 3.2 g - Retail Value $22.00

Whenever I receive highlighters in subscription boxes, they tend to come in much lighter shades than this one, and the lighter they are, the less they work for me. So, I’m thrilled to have this Sophia + Mabelle Satin Powder Highlighter. The shade ‘Peach Sangria’ works wonderfully with my skin tone; it’s a nice copper with gold and light peach undertones, and the formula is buildable, with a super smooth feel to the touch. I love how I can apply this to my face with or without makeup for just the right amount of shimmer. Definitely a high-quality product that will last me for quite some time.

NOMAD Iceland Fire and Ice Eyeshadow in Gallow’s Lava, 1.5 g - Estimated Retail Value $2.60

This single eyeshadow is so tiny and adorable, and I like it a lot. I was happy to receive the shade ‘Gallow’s Lava,’ which is a cross between army green and forest green. I was especially drawn to it because it’s one of my ‘signature’ colors. This pretty shimmer is intense, so it’s for a particular type of look and definitely not an everyday look for me. The texture is great, infused with cloudberry seed oil, which works nicely to moisturize my lids and keep them from feeling dry even after all-day wear. I enjoy how buildable, smooth, and blendable it is as well, and I have to say, I experienced very little fallout from this shadow. A little goes a long way, so use a gentle touch when applying because it is very pigmented.

DEW OF THE GODS Frozé Iced Rosé Body Scrub, 30 g - Estimated Retail Value $4.40

First thing's first… I am obsessed with the packaging of this body scrub. The bright colors always get my attention, not to mention the cute name, which is perfect for summertime. This scrub from Dew of the Gods is the mini version, so I wasn’t able to use it on my entire body in the shower, unfortunately. But it did a great job on my elbows, knees, and some of the other areas that needed a little extra exfoliation. Pro tip: the brand suggests trying this scrub out on your dry skin before turning on the water in the shower for an extra special exfoliation experience (I highly recommend this method). Now, this scrub can apparently be used on your face as well, but I would be careful if you have sensitive skin since it does contain a blueberry essential oil. For myself, I didn’t choose to use it on my face since I indeed do have sensitive skin that tends to abhor most essential oils even in small doses. Otherwise, it is a natural product with other ingredients including strawberry seed oil and jojoba essence for ultimate after-scrub moisturization.

BROW ATELIER Groom and Sculpt Tinted Brow Gel in Truffle, 2.5 ml - Retail Value $21.00

I love me some good brow gel. It’s definitely a staple in my usual makeup routine. Brow gels are great because even if you don’t have a full face of makeup on, it’s easy to swipe some on, seamlessly giving yourself the look of perfectly sculpted brows. Even if I don’t have any other makeup on and don’t feel like putting any on for a midday meeting, applying a little bit of this stuff to my brows gives me the classic bold look that I love while also giving my face a little bit of extra life and oomph. I will say, though, I would have liked to see a larger brush on the end of this wand, but there are certainly upsides to having a more precise brush like this.

MISCHO BEAUTY Lip Liner in Madam, 0.3 g - Retail Value $17.00

This is your standard lip liner from Mischo Beauty in the shade ‘Madam.’ With such a unique name, I was expecting the color to be something like a dark maroon or maybe a plum… In fact, it’s described as a ‘deep purple mauve.’ Now, I don’t know if I suddenly became colorblind overnight or what, but this shade looks like a dark brown to me. Either way, I do appreciate the attention to detail when it comes to skin tone diversity, but I probably won’t use this too often in my everyday routine. I’m going to keep this lip liner on the side for creating bolder nighttime looks. This is certainly a high quality product, though, and the texture of this liner is super creamy, very smooth, and definitely buildable. Bonus points for such a precise tip!

Verdict

I thought this was a good month for Ipsy Glam Bag! The highlight for me was Nomad’s eyeshadow in ‘Gallow’s Lava.’ The color is on point, along with the texture and quality. All-day wear is a breeze with this eyeshadow. Sophia + Mabelle’s Peach Sangria highlighter was a lovely surprise and a beautiful highlighter that came just in time. I love the shade and the satin finish. I can never have enough brow gel, and Brow Atelier’s sculpting brow gel will likely become my on-the-go brow gel product since it’s super compact and perfect for travel. The lip liner from Mischo Beauty, a deep purple that to me (I swear) looks like a dark brown. Definitely a solid product with a precise tip that is perfect for creating a bolder look. Lastly, the body scrub from Dew of the Gods… Again, I love the packaging, and I loved the experience of a ‘dry’ scrub. I may have to get my hands on a full size packet one of these days. Overall, the curation definitely played very nicely with the theme ‘Show Your Colors,’ and I like how it included some products to create bolder, more unique looks. The value was definitely there as well.

I’m so confused. It says this review was done by Naomi, but all the photos are of Megan. Anyway, I really want that eye shadow!!

I really liked my bag this month. I got a Nomad shadow in “Alfeim,” a pretty metallic lavender. A Plum Candy melt lip balm in Melon Bubble Yum, a *silver* eyeliner from Love + Craft + Beauty, a Fluide nail polish in “Starquake, ” and Hyaluronic + Retinol Radical Youth Activator Serum from Abel Skincare. Lately their personalization has been much better for me.

I do wish the Nomad and lip balm samples were larger – these were worth less than $3 each. But, they are products I want to try, so it’s not so bad.

The overall value was higher than last month, but only because the skincare sample works out to be more than the RV of the rest of the bag put together!

Every one of these products are private label – made in China for pennies junk.

Ya’ll should remove Ipsy from your website.

1. They provide no customer service any longer. The only way to contact a human is through Facebook Messenger. This is a violation of many FTC laws.
2. They provide no way to cancel. You’re sent through a series of prompts that lead to no where, with a promise of a cancellation email link that never arrives. Again, violates FTC laws.
3. They’re currently unable to fulfill orders and there are no means to contact regarding these orders. The only recourse is to chargeback to credit cards.

They are still providing service via email; I’ve had recent contact. They do make cancelling a pain but just watch the links and keep continuing to cancel and the email did come. (when I cancelled)
My daughter had to email them to cancel hers, since she didn’t get the finalization email…but they did cancel for her. I’m not sure where you are getting inaccurate info.

See, they ignore my emails and support tickets. I still don’t have my June bag nor the Glow Recipe edit I got the moment it dropped (& they said they shipped, but when I said it says en route to DHL, suddenly my tracking number is invalid).
I don’t know, but they’ve seriously dropped the ball this year.

The email address support at ipsy dot com doesn’t work anymore?

I just got my base bag 2 days ago and my plus is lost! I had a tracking # that had no update since 6-4 and now it says the # is invalid!! I think with this and the price increase that I am finally done!
