Vellabox is a monthly candle subscription. Every month they send you quality, small-batch, toxin-free, hand-poured candles. Late in 2021 the brand’s pricing structure changed: Monthly and 3-month subscribers will now pay $18 for a 4 oz. candle and free gift; $28 for an 8 oz. candle and free gift; or $38 for a 16 oz. candle and gift. Subscribers are also now able to customize their box to their scent preferences and receive candles curated for them.

Since entering my lovely 30s, I have struggled a bit with increased anxiety, but have learned how to cope through prayer, journaling, lavender everything, and candles. Because candles are an important component of my daily life, I am always on the lookout for clean-burning and toxin-free versions that I can feel good about burning in my home, so I just had to check out Vellabox. Along with the candle, I also received a surprise sample, a Spotify playlist, and cards with inspirational quotes and candle information.

This month the featured candle maker was Sincerely, Sarah Jane. Sarah started creating clean-burning candles that were free of toxins for her mom, who was going through cancer treatments at the time. And speaking of all the wonderful moms out there.... Mother's Day is right around the corner, folks! This month there were three different candle scents including: Dream (for fans of herbal + sweet & spice), Grace (for fans of floral), and Daybreak (for fans of citrus). Perfect for spring, I received Dream, and I am thoroughly impressed. As I mentioned above, I am addicted to anything lavender, and though I feel the cedarwood and vanilla are more detectable than the lavender in this particular candle, I enjoyed the relaxing sensation it produced. With an impressive scent throw, my entire dining room and living room has been turned into a heavenly oasis of lavender fields and cedarwood, readying me for bedtime.
I love the fact that this box features a different candle maker each month. Not only do we receive a background story on each candle maker, but we also received a coupon code, and a QR code for easy re-purchase.

Joy Creative Shop "Don't Forget" Memo Notepad – Retail Value $8

Extremely functional and perfectly chic, the surprise this month is a collaboration with Joy Creative Shop - a shop that specializes in beautiful cards, notepads, planners, and more. I am a sucker for Post-It notes, and though these aren't sticky on the back, the "don't forget..." logo on the front is perfect for notes to my husband! Believe you and me, these puppies will be used up faster than you can imagine. A little on the spendy side, I don't think I would typically pay this much for a note pad, but coupled with the included coupon, I found some adorable, personalized teacher notecards my boys' teachers might just get for Teacher Appreciation week!!
Was This Box Worth It?
The Cost: $28
Vellabox was not exactly what I was expecting, but in a good way. First of all, I love the story behind each candle. To me, hand-poured, small-batch candles though more expensive, are worth it in the long run, as our furnace filter stays a lot cleaner, and our lungs are happier. And because soy candles tend to not have as strong of a scent throw as paraffin-based candles, my husband doesn't blow them out right away, which makes everyone in the house happy. The inclusion of the notepad was functional and cute, though lacking the value piece I was hoping a tiny bit for. Overall, I felt this was a fun and meaningful box that will be an asset to reminders and anxiety-free days! I wonder what next month's theme will be!
