First Impressions

Boxwalla always has the prettiest boxes. I hang on to them and use them for my art supplies. They are hefty and handmade, and all-around wonderful!

The Items

Votary Radiance Reveal Mask with Lactic & Mandelic Acid, 50 ml - Retail Value $78

It is a truly magical formulation that combines the best of moisturization with exfoliation. And I can personally attest to how gentle this formula is because I initially thought it was a cream and I slept in it. Yes, this exfoliating mask that should be washed off in 5-15 minutes was on my face all night. And while I do not ever, ever recommend this, I was totally fine. Glowing, in fact. Now, I am used to slightly aggressive peels which probably helped this not irritate me, but I wasn't even red in the morning. I was just smooth and dewy. I think the addition of soothing and moisturizing elements like aloe and sunflower oil keep this very active exfoliant from being drying or stripping, while still letting the lactic acid do its work. All in all, I highly recommend using this mask, but using it as directed. Don't be like me.

Arcana Glasswing Immersive Ceramide Milk, 30 mL -  Retail Value $82

Moving on to a brand new product launch! How lucky are we? Well, you are extra lucky if you are a ceramide fan. Because this formula boasts a 5% ceramide complex. Why ceramides? Well, your skin is made up of a ton of them already and they help it maintain its moisture, protect from environmental stressors, and actually help keep germs out of your skin. This formula is insane. In addition to that 5% ceramide complex, it also has hyaluronic acid (it is the number 3 ingredient!), antioxidants from snow mushrooms, antibacterial radish ferment, and loads of other skin goodies all formulated in one of the lightest serums I have ever used. I do recommend shaking the bottle before you dispense it because it does tend to separate. This is such a great step for your face between cleansing and moisturizing.

Arcana Nine Herbs Charm Clarifying Face Oil, 15 mL -  Estimated Value $40 (buy 30 mL for $80)

I have dry skin with very little acne, but when I get those pesky bumps, they are along my jawline. This is usually a combination of hormones and also sleeping with my face on my hands like some sort of cozy grub. I have noticed that trying to dry out my acne just doesn't always work. In fact, it usually just makes my skin mad and even more irritated. So a clarifying oil like this is just the trick! In addition to being a gorgeous green color, it has ingredients like blue tansy, nettle, and sage that are linked to helping with hormonal congestion as well as redness. Giving it even more acne-fighting power is the addition of meadowsweet, which has naturally occurring salicylic acid, an exfoliant that helps dead skin detach and thus prevents congestion and buildup. All of this goodness is floating around in a moisturizing blend of oils from grapeseed, watermelon, and hemp. This oil has a very herbal scent that I am way into, though it might feel like a lot for those who don't enjoy natural scents like this.

This Boxwalla Beauty box had a total value of $200, which is great for a $49.95 box. It is also a really wonderful example of this box in general: a mix of high-end skincare with insanely thoughtful formulations. And we even tried a brand new formula in this delivery! I love that. And even with my user error (reading is important, ok?) I still had a wonderful time exploring these products.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Hehehe. Been there! Directions are an afterthought to be read only if I can’t figure something out. This is such a great box. They really come through, month after month and there is always a high value. I love being introduced to new brands.

Boxwalla doesn’t have coupons for their boxes. Recently they’ve feature a coupon for their online store but that’s it.

Unfortunately, this box is no longer available as a subscription but you can purchase it in the shop (at a higher price) as they said they have a few left. I’d hurry though, this was an incredible box and I’m going to get another as I loved the Arcana so much and I’m sure there’s a lot of others who feel the same way.
