First Impressions

My kids love animals, so I knew this selection full of animals would be sure to please!

Inside the Lillypost February 2022 Box

Lillypost always sends us a set of Finnley the Fox stickers along with a little note that introduces their coloring contest for the month. Kids can draw directly on the box and incorporate Finnley into the monthly theme, then share it on social media for a chance to win a prize. This month is all about friendship!

In The Wild by Natalie Marshall - Listed Value $8.99

We had a new addition to the family at the end of January, so my older kids were all very excited to share this book with the baby! While he's a bit young to enjoy it right now, I know that as he gets older he will love the bright colors, cute animals, and of course, all of the fun textures throughout! This book has limited text, but it is busy and vibrant and having the tactile aspect with all of the peek-through textures makes it a great one to add to our collection for baby boy!

Musical Mac by Brendan Kearney - Listed Value $16.95

I can honestly say we have never received a book about a millipede before so this was an exciting concept for my kiddos who love all sorts of critters! Mac is just a bug who loves to play music and dreams of entering the talent show, the problem is, he is much too scared to do it alone. He sets out on a journey to find a band to join which proves to be difficult and at times even dangerous! In the end, he finds his way thanks to the help of his new friends. The story was short and not incredibly detailed, but it was fun and has some great illustrations of animals playing instruments that make it interesting enough to hold a child's attention! Bonus - there are also some great large words throughout which are helpful for those trying to expand their vocabulary.

Something's Wrong! by Jory John and Erin Kraan - Listed Value $18.99

This picture book is quite lengthy with long paragraphs throughout and it's all about a bear and his underwear...except bears don't wear underwear! And apparently, he's forgotten to take off the strange gift his grandmother sent him — which is quite embarrassing when all of the other animals see him. In the end, the day is saved by his friend, but the moments leading up to it are quite silly as Jeff the Bear tries and tries to figure out what it is that he forgot to do! He speaks in long, rambling, run-on sentences that are quite silly and fun to read, but I think what my kids enjoyed most were the illustrations of the many animals, some of which look quite silly by the end!

Value - Is it Worth It?

The Cost: $19.95 per month + $4.95 shipping. Save with longer subscriptions.

Value Breakdown:

  • Wild Animals: $8.99
  • Musical Mac: $16.95
  • Something's Wrong!: $18.99

The total retail value of the books we received comes to $44.93 which is a savings of about $20.03 since we only paid $24.90 for this box, which is a great value!

Key Takeaways

This was another great month of books from Lillypost with selections to please any age. The kids were most excited about sharing the board book with their new baby brother, but we also enjoyed the absolute silliness of Something's Wrong!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
