First Impressions

This box is wrapped with care and feels like a gift to yourself.

First, I should explain that I’m not a tea connoisseur. I live in San Diego where it’s warm and iced black tea is the drink of choice. I knew I was going to review a box with tea, so I invested in a large mug with a built-in strainer.  While picking it out I was bombarded with tea suggestions—I am amazed at the vast variety of teas. Mug in hand, I’m excited to explore this tasty new world!

It's Tea Time!

Teatulia Organic Teas – Lemongrass + Bay Leaf Herbal Tea Pyramid Bags - Retail Value $8.99

As this tea brewed, a strong citrus scent wafted around me. As I tasted it, I’d describe it as light and bright. The container says: “Refreshing and clean with a lemony sweetness.”  The recyclable canister contains 16 pyramid tea bags that brew 2 cups per bag.

Teatulia Organic Teas – Hibiscus Berry Tea Square Paper Bags - Retail Value $1.20

This “Hibiscus Berry” flavored tea is from the same brand as the previous tea. I know the package doesn’t really matter, but the vibrance of this one excited me! The flavor sounded amazing, and I’m happy to say that the taste and smell matched my high expectations! It promises the “perfect marriage of sweet and tangy”, and it delivers!

I brewed a large mugful and added a few Splendas. Perfection! Remember all those sweet and sour candies you ate as a kid?  This is the grown-up version! It’s a lot like a zesty berry jam but as you sip, it turns almost sour. They’re right to say “tangy” because it’s the perfect description for it. If you want something invigorating to wake you up in the morning (without the caffeine) this is the tea!

But that’s not all it’s good for; try it iced! I brewed the three remaining tea bags in a pot of water and poured it into a jug full of ice. It tastes much smoother iced, a perfect summer drink. My family loves it iced so much that I’m buying a canister. It’s a great bargain, too, since a full-size canister of 30 bags costs $8.99 and each bag brews 2-3 cups.

Double Wall Glass Mug With Bamboo Lid - AllBambu - Retail Value $16.99

There’s something really elegant about a simple glass mug. I’ve never owned one before but now I’m a convert. The best part? A heavy-duty, well fitting bamboo lid! There’s a nice silicone gasket that keeps the lid in place. And the tea hot!

Renew Body Oil – by Tea Pray Love - Retail Value $32

This pretty, pale blue liquid is a blend of jojoba and camellia oil that contains pure blue tansy. According to the included card, blue tansy “…contains components known to repair skin and reduce inflammation.”  I’ve seen other subscription box items on the swap site that contain blue tansy and they’re very popular, so I was excited to receive this oil. I’ve only had it a few days so I can’t really comment on long-term effects, but I can say that feels and smells lovely.

Sukin Signature Cream Facial Cleanser - Retail Value $9.99

Yay for an invigorating scented cleanser that you can feel good about using!  It’s made without using animal derivatives, parabens, sulphates or 10 other icky things you don’t want to put on your face.

Tea, Pray, Love sent out this cream and two other forms of cleanser, depending on your skin type. I have dry skin, so I’m lucky that I happened to receive the cream one which is soothing and hydrating!  Plus, it has a natural, clean scent that is nice to wake up to!

Living In Tune: 21 Questions To Activate Your Intuition And Find Your Life Purpose” – Liz Roberta  - Retail Value $19.99

This book was a nice surprise! I’ll be honest, it’s not the type of book I usually read, but I put aside the biography of Elon Musk that I’m currently reading to give it a try. I’m so glad that I did! In fact, I bought the Kindle copy for my bestie and we’re going to be our own little book club and read it together.

The book focuses on learning the use your intuition so that you can find purpose in your life. There are 21 questions that author, Liz Roberta, uses to do this. And at the end of each chapter are journal prompts and exercises to help you work through, and get the most out of, what’s covered in that chapter.

There’s a lot of wisdom in this book. I can flip to just about any page and find something super meaningful. For instance, I just randomly opened the book to page 134 and found this gem:

“Your past can hold you back or it can guide you further forwards. The choice is always yours and, to know which one to make, you need to realize what will make you feel like your time on Earth has been spent in a better way.”

I could go page after page, but I’ll let you grab a copy and see what I mean.  I’m grateful this book found me just when I needed it to.

“Living In Tune” – Matching Quote Bookmark

What a thoughtful little addition!  Not only does it beautifully match the book cover, it has great quotes from the book printed on it.

Double Chocolate Crunch Shortbread Cookie - Rustic Bakery Café – Retail Value: $1

Three wonderful words: Chocolate, Shortbread, Cookies!  I’ve never had chocolate shortbread, and now I know that I’ve been deprived! But this isn’t just chocolate flavored shortbread; there are little cocoa nibs mixed in with the buttery cookie, giving it the right amount of crunch while still being flaky. These cookies are a nice little treat. Chocolate always goes with self-care!

The Verdict

This is my first Tea, Pray, Love box, but I hope it's not my last. It delights your senses: delicious cookies, the aroma of tea brewing, a great book to read, oil to soothe your skin.

Thanks to Tea, Pray, Love, I think I’ll make hot tea a regular part of my daily routine!

With life becoming so hectic, self-care is more important than ever. Tea, Pray, Love makes it easy to treat yourself to a comforting experience. Brew some tea, eat a delicious cookie and settle down with a motivational book!

Value Breakdown:

This is the Premier box, which costs $49.94 (including shipping). There were 8 items in the box, making the cost $6.24 per item. Considering you’re getting a great motivational book, blue tansy body oil, a great cleanser, and a stylish double wall glass mug, I’d say the price is fair. Tea, Pray, Love has been around since 2019, and I’m excited to see what they do with their future boxes.

This is such a fun box! My bf loves tea, so this is definitely going on the list as a possible bday gift. If he doesn’t want the beauty items, I can always take them off his hands 🙂
