First Impressions

This month's theme is called: "The Shop Around The Corner."  The theme is an adorable homage to the beloved film: “You’ve Got Mail.”

You’ve Got Mail…And It Smells Amazing!

Dear Friend – Microdermabrasion Scrub - Estimated Retail Value $3.40

I’m so happy to receive this microdermabrasion scrub!  Who doesn’t need to polish their face after a long, cold winter?  And it smells amazing!  According to Fortune Cookie Soap (FCS, for short) the scent is:

A sweet blend of fresh ripe kumquat, fresh picked oranges and tropical pineapple. With the zest of lemons, limes, and fresh herbal notes of lavender and bergamot.

Full size is 2.2oz for $14.99.  (This sample is 0.5 oz.)

F-O-X - Leave In Conditioner - Retail Value $?

This leave in condition doesn’t just smell good, it does a good job!  Ever since Ipsy and FabFitFun, I’ve been obsessed with R+Co’s products.  They work wonderfully with my hair, so I don’t dare try anything else.  Because of that, my mom swooped in and gladly grabbed this leave in.  She tried it yesterday and said her hair was easier to comb through and feels much softer and it left her hair smelling amazing..  That sounds like a winner to me!  The scent, according to the FCS site is:

Rich brown sugar, fresh baked apples and pears, and vanilla bean.

The full-sized bottle costs $10.99; however, the font on both bottles is so small that I’m unsure of how many ounces it is and therefore how much the sample size is worth.

Shopgirl – Whipped Cream - Retail Value $?

I must say that this is just about the best thing I’ve ever smelled!  According to the FCS website, the scent is:

A romantic blend of honeysuckle, night blooming jasmine and ylang ylang intertwines with woodsy notes of rich amber and delicate musk to make a floral, woodsy, aromatic fragrance.

It also lives up to its name: the texture is luscious like whipped cream.  Forget dry, winter skin, with this lotion.

The full-sized tub is $12.99.  As with the leave in conditioner, I’m unsure of the sizes of each product, and therefore, cannot calculate the value of the deluxe sample.

I Wanted It To Be You – Bubble Crumble - Retail Value $?

“I wanted it to be you” is more like, “I wanted to be able to try this!”  Unfortunately for me, I don’t have a bathtub!  So, this fun sounding product is now my mom’s.  It sounds amazing: you crumble it over a hot bath, and it fizzes and foams.  And of course, perfumes the air!  Full size costs $12.99 for a nice, large container.  According to the FCS website, the scent is of:

Sweet coconut and vanilla with kisses of tart lime and ripe avocado. This scent will leave you smelling, enchanting.

Are You Online? – Perfume Oil - Retail Value $10.99

I’m not crazy about roll on perfumes because I feel like I get a better result when I mist perfume on.  However, they are great to keep in your purse for those days that you forget to spritz yourself!  This one smells lovely; the scent description is:

Swirling sandalwood incense, sweet berries, delicate white florals and golden Amber... and bouquets of sharpened pencils.

This product is full sized.  It’s also worth noting that according to the FCS site, it’s Vegan!

I Love Daisies – Fortune Cookie Soap - Retail Value $4.25

Oh my gosh!  How adorable is this soap??  It’s way too cute to use so it’s going to decorate my bathroom counter.  Like a real fortune cookie, this soap came with a fortune inside.  I couldn’t resist pulling it out and reading it.  I posed it next to the cookie and snapped a pic!   According to the FCS site, the scent is:

A whisper of fruitiness with floral notes of jasmine and violet that are followed by warm musk.

And it does not disappoint!  I can’t decide between this and Shopgirl for my favorite scent of the box!

By the way, this soap is full-sized and Vegan!

You’ve Got Mail - Sticker - Retail Value $0.99

Every month, FCS makes around 4 stickers.  They put one in each box they send out.  “You’ve Got Mail” is the sticker I received.  To buy the full set of 4 different stickers, the cost is $3.99.  All are designed by FCS and graphics and quotes are all worthy of a place in your sticker collection.

The Verdict

I absolutely love floral scents!  So this box was a huge win for me,  Every scent was spot on.  Plus, I love how creative they’re getting with their products.  It’s not just soap and bath bombs; they’ve really set the bar high (microdermabrasion scrub, bubble crumble, leave in conditioner, etc.).   In my opinion, it’s the best box they’ve done since the Finding Nemo, “Just Keep Swimming” box.

To Wrap Up

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?

No, your first box will be the March box.  However, there is always a waiting list.  So, if you want to join, sign up for the waiting list; you’ll be contacted when there is a spot open, and you’ll be given 24 hours to claim your spot.  However, all of these items shown above, and many, many more full-size items from “The Shop Around The Corner” collection are available for sale now.

Value Breakdown: This is the quarterly box that costs the same as the regular monthly one, at $16.95 (including shipping), which means each of the 7 items (including the sticker) cost an average of about $2.42.  Plus, with every box, you’ll be mailed a code for $10 off any order of $25 or more to be used on any items in their vast store.  That makes this box an incredibly good deal.
