Add to Cart is a new reader interest series that breaks down products and launches in beauty and skincare from your wish list. Has something caught your eye and preoccupied your desires? What products are you curious to learn more about? Let us know what's living on your wish list in the comments - each month, we'll select, buy, and review one product to see if it lives up to the hype!

Welcome to another round of Add to Cart! There were a few new launches this month that captured my attention, but you helped me narrow it down to a new offering from cult-favorite indie brand Youth to the People! I am glad this was the choice because this time of year I think most of our faces need a little extra love. And this serum delivers! Ready to dive in?

The Product We Chose: Youth To The People Triple Peptide + Cactus Oasis Serum, 1 fl oz - $54

My Subscription Addiction paid for this product. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Ah, Youth to the People. Such a cool brand. We have already visited them before if you want to see another newer exfoliant from them reviewed. They are known for their emphasis on responsible ingredients and conscious packaging.

We are proud to formulate all of our products in California, sourcing our extracts from local suppliers when possible. Our formulations are vegan, cruelty-free, and won’t cause harm to our oceans once rinsed off of your face. Our products abide by the EU’s list of 1,300+ ingredients that are restricted for cosmetic use.

It is also family-owned and is a brand that believes in positively impacting the world beyond skincare.

The Ingredients

Here is a closer look at the ingredient list:

Water/Aqua/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Stem (Prickly Pear Cactus) Extract, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-28, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Synthetic Sapphire, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Nephelium Lappaceum Peel (Rambutan) Extract, Sodium Pca, Glutathione, Malachite Extract, Citric Acid, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Polyglutamic Acid, 1,2-Hexandiol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Lactate, Carbomer, Propanediol, Polysorbate 20, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Disodium Phosphate, Polysorbate 60, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Hydroxide, Glyceryl Caprylate, Sodium Formate, Sodium Glycolate, Sodium Phosphate, Benzoic Acid.

The Key Players and What They Do

Prickly Pear Extract: This ingredient has been having a big moment lately and for good reason. It both soothes and hydrates skin and may provide UV light protection. It is also from an edible fruit-bearing cactus which makes it automatically awesome.

Palmitoyl Tripeptides 1, 7, and 28: What's the deal with peptides? Well, in oversimplified terms, they help your skin produce more collagen and therefore help with anti-aging endeavors. So, for someone like myself, hanging out in her mid-30s, I am here for the peptide party.

Hyaluronic Acid: We all know and love her because she holds 1000 times her weight in water. This means water sticks around in and on your skin for longer when she makes an appearance. There are four types of HA inside this bottle, meaning different molecule sizes and different levels of skin penetration.

Watermelon Fruit Extract: This is great for your skin in the same way that is it great for your tummy: it has antioxidants, loads of vitamins, and some minerals too. It also is another ingredient that helps protect against UV damage.

Sodium Lactate: Another moisturizer that has pH balancing powers.

Malachite Extract: As a rock-hound, I had to point this out! This is literally malachite particulates that have antioxidants. How cool is that?

My Takeaway

What Does It Smell Like?

Literally nothing. This formula is fragrance-free and doesn't have any noticeable scent from the ingredients that my nose could pick up.

What Does It Feel Like?

This clear serum is a lightweight liquid with a little slip and excellent absorption. It somehow manages to make skin feel smoother and plumper without actually leaving anything behind in terms of texture when it is absorbed.

When Should I Apply This?

This is the sort of product you can use whenever you want, day or night! I like to follow the thin-to-thick rule of skincare application. Meaning this goes on after cleansing but before my moisturizer regardless of when I apply it.

Who Is It For?

This could honestly be a great skincare addition for anyone. Even if you aren't terribly concerned with aging treatments, this is a solid way to add hydration to your face without adding weight. And anyone and everyone can benefit from the antioxidants inside.

Should You Buy Youth To The People Triple Peptide + Cactus Oasis Serum?

I mean, I really, really liked this serum. If you don't already have a peptide or HA serum in your routine, this can be an easy addition that takes care of both at the same time with the benefit of antioxidants too. I think skincare aficionados who prefer fragrance-free products will also especially enjoy this. It is also worth noting that this formula is vegan and made in the US.

What's Next?

I have a confession. I already picked and ordered the next product. It is a brand new and super-hyped SPF launch from one of my favorite brands. Hope to see you next month!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’m intrigued by Katini Skin’s serums and oils, would love to see reviews of those! Also, I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on Biossance’s squalane and copper peptide serum.

Oh I know exactly what product you are talking about, Megan! Looking forward to the review of that yummy spf!

This YTTP serum sounds pretty amazing, too. I’m here to say that since turning 40, ageing is a real thing lol. I don’t know who said that age was just a number, but they are lying. Even my hair is telling me, “lady, it’s been real.” 😣 Thanks Megan for the review…and I must say I absolutely love your pictures! 👍

It should be a fun review! I am working on it as we speak. Does it beat my fave Supergoop Glow Screen? Only time will tell. 😉

Thanks for the picture love! I literally take them all on my kitchen island because the lighting is amazing. Will wants to kill me because the kitchen is always covered in random beauty products.
