January's artist

Quirky Crate showcases one item from a featured artist or brand each month. This month features Angela in the Fields. She's a print & graphic designer based in North London. This info card gives you some insight into her background as well as some social media info.

On the flip side of the card, Quirky Crate includes an itemized list of each product and its value. This month's theme is "Love is in the Air," featuring some sweet, colorful flair and home goods.

Time to get quirky!

Express Air Mail Purse - Listed Value $40

I am someone who romanticizes the mail, especially a good old-fashioned card, letter, or care package. It thrills me to receive anything via snail mail (hence my gig here at MSA) so this bag is totally my aesthetic. It is so photogenic, too, wouldn't you agree? This month's bag comes with an adjustable faux leather strap, accompanied at both ends with a gold chain and a little blue bird tag. This roomy bag is great for carrying around essentials, and it makes a perfect clutch if that is your speed.

Heart-Shaped Measuring Spoons & Egg White Separator - Listed Value $13

Even though the little spoons are obviously hearts, I still see cherries with green stems and a broken heart. The plastic on this set isn't the finest; I don't think it would last in the dishwasher (the only way to wash, nowadays), so this will make an excellent set for my toddler to play with. I will, however, be using the broken heart egg white separator. I've never tried a product like it, so I am hoping it does a bang-up job cradling my yolks.

Survived 2021 Enamel Pin - Listed Value $10

I survived 2021, and alls I got was this pin... which I love! We all deserve ribbons for getting through the last 2+ years. When I see items like this, I imagine trying to explain this era to my kids in 15 years, hoping that we are all living in a much safer, more humane time. This small pin has one pin back, and it looks glorious on my new jean jacket, and I am wearing it proudly.

Valentine by Angela in the Fields - Listed Value $5

Angela in the Fields, this month's featured artist, designed this Valentine. The interior is blank, allowing room to leave your special someone a loving note or haiku. The front and back of the card are full color while the inside is plain old white, just like its envelope. I love the sentiment here, but my husband and I lean toward sillier card designs.

Rainbow Socks - Listed Price $8

Quirky Crate always delivers fun socks every month. I have a vast collection of their picks, and they hold up so well. I usually prefer more colorful, full sock designs, but this style is bright and refreshing. The pops of color are fun details, and I enjoy the snug fit.

Cupid Necklace & Earring Set - Listed Price $16

This cherub and cloud jewelry set is cute, but ultimately not my preference. Usually, I am a sucker for huggie earrings, but I love more delicate metal styles. The great thing about subscription boxes is that when something is not in your range, you can always gift it! The clouds and cherub are made from plastic, as are the silvery pearls that make up the necklace chain.

Rainbow Pencil Container - Listed Price $10

My toddler is going through a phase where he loves hiding his toys pretty much anywhere they will fit. We unbox this subscription together because there is always something he clings to, and this item was his pick. He has been cramming his Peppa Pig figures in this little utensil cup for days; it is literally always full! If your toddler didn't steal this from you, it would make a cheerful, lightweight pencil cup for your desk.

The Verdict

January's Quirky Crate was full of fun finds. This month's theme 'Love is in the Air' had a lot of cutesy rainbows and hearts, but my favorite part of this month's box was definitely the Air Mail Purse. I'll absolutely be sporting my "Survived 2021" pin, and I can't wait to give the egg white separator a go. Unfortunately, the cherub and clouds jewelry set was not my style, but everything else will definitely be worn and utilized. The total value of this box adds up to $102, over double the $36.95 + $8.50 shipping subscription cost.

A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.
