January 2022: "2022"
Along with my beauty items, I received an info card that details what items are in the box. New year new us! This month's theme is "2022" and I'm ready to see what new beauty items we are bringing into the new year 🙂
Medusa's Sun Kissed Bronzer – Retail Value $16.00
Starting this month's review off a little in my feelings. A sun kissed bronzer when there's a foot of snow outside my window just isn't sitting right with me. But I digress. This is one of Medusa's Makeup best-selling bronzers and I'm so happy I got my hands on it! It's a buildable formula, so use a little for a soft look or more for a vibrant look.
I'm currently recovering from covid, so am leaving my face out of pictures as I look and feel gross :-/ I do really like the pigment of this bronzer though, and am looking forward to using it!
Medusa's Baked Eyeshadow (Envy) – Retail Value $14.00
Bright green isn't normally a color I would expect in a January box. However, Medusa's Makeup goal for 2022 is to make the world a more colorful place, so this shadow is on theme.
I'm not really a fan. I don't know if it's because we are in the middle of winter and this screams summer to me, or if it's because I just am not a bright green person, but I'll pass on this shadow.
Medusa's Rage Against the Bean Lip Balm – Retail Value $8.95
I love vanilla. I love lip balm. This is a pretty easy review. haha! This lip balm smells amazing and is incredibly moisturizing.
Peony's Cult Lashes Mascara – Retail Value $23.00
Starting this mascara review off with mixed emotions. I've been using a lash and eyebrow serum for the past year and my lashes have grown quite a bit. Depending on mascara, sometimes it looks as though I have basic falsies on. I was expecting this mascara would act in turn as the liquid was really dark and the brush seemed as though it would define my lashes.
(Left eyelashes is with mascara in both pictures)
The mascara did do a great job at lifting my lashes, but my lashes aren't elongated or have more volume. I used about four coats. I may try and give this mascara another chance. Maybe pairing it with a liquid liner will work to make my eyes pop!
Cocobeatty Coconut Wipe – Listed Value $3.00
This item is hands down one of my favorites that have been sent by Medusa's Makeup in previous boxes. Read my review from August 2021 about this gem.
This little face wipe contains coconut oil and is a perfect and less irritating way to take off your makeup. I use coconut oil to take off my makeup anyway, but it’s a lot less messy when it’s on a convenient wipe.
Look at this (semi-embarrassing) before and after. The left side is my face after trying out makeup items to review. The right side is my face all-clear after using the Cocobetty wipe. I didn’t even rinse my face when I took this picture. I only used the wipe and it left no makeup residue. My only complaint is that this item seems to always be out of stock :-/
I wasn't impressed with this month's Medusa's Makeup box sadly. I was expecting more glam for the new year. Maybe some dramatic lashes, or a bold lip color. But this box was pretty average. I was let down by the mascara and eyeshadow color. The bronzer may be something I'd wear, but I wasn't exactly thrilled. I did enjoy the vanilla smell of the lip balm. And just as in previous months' and thoroughly impressed with the coconut oil wipe. Hoping that next month's box impresses.
Keep track of your subscriptions by adding this box to your subscription list or wishlist!
To Wrap Up:
Value Breakdown: I estimate I received $62.95 worth of items. I think the value is decent for having only paid $18.95.
