First Impressions

The rotating themes are what I think makes this box a fun one. It looks like this month the theme is "Better Your Bedtime" which I could certainly use help with! Here is a look at the digital info page with their listed values for each product:

Let's dive in!

Vitamasques Super Cactus Glow Facial - Retail Value $6.99

I love a good sheet mask and this set was a nice one that included a cleanser to start with and a moisturizer to follow up with. It was like a nice little refreshing spa package! The agave enzyme cleanser was thick and gel-like and worked well to cleanse my face before applying my mask. It is meant to exfoliate (not sure I noticed that) and add some moisture through vitamins to your skin.

The super cactus biodegradable mask itself was nice and my son enjoyed seeing me in it! It seemed to dry up over the 20 minutes I was using it so I hoped that meant my skin was absorbing all of the cactus extract, Vitamin C, AHA, BHA, and PHA in it. The prickly pear moisturizer as the last step was nice and thick, but it absorbed well since I had to massage it in. It is made with fruit enzymes and niacinamide. Overall, my skin felt and looked refreshed afterward, so I am pleased with it after this one-time use. It would make for a fun component to a little spa night in gift!

Four Sigmatic Mushroom Cacao with Reishi Mix, 10 packs - Retail Value $20

This cacao mix is meant to drink before bedtime so you can enjoy the stress-reducing benefits of this particular mushroom. I am no stranger to Reishi mushrooms and have used them in powder form in protein shakes and smoothies prior to my current pregnancy. I was eager to taste this as a nice cup of cacao as a way to "chill" before bedtime. While I wouldn't use this regularly in my current state, I did think it was okay to try a cup of it, especially since you only mix it with 4 ounces of water. Not sure about you, but I prefer my hot drinks to be a little bit bigger to enjoy them!

Here's my itty bitty splash of cacao. The taste was okay - I mixed it with water, so it tasted like cinnamon cocoa water that was slightly earthy and a bit sweet thanks to the stevia. I am pretty sensitive to stevia, but this wasn't incredibly noticeable. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I can't see myself changing up my routine to include this. I will try it with milk next time though!

Dream CBD Oil Tincture by Batch - Retail Value $74.99

I have dabbled in CBD oils, although not well-versed in them, but I was happy to see that this one was full-spectrum and was 1000 mg which is higher than any I have ever tried. It contains black seed oil and peppermint oil which I can definitely smell, along with Terpinolene, Myrcene, Linalool for a blend designed to help you get some rest. I love the idea of using this to get to sleep, but unfortunately, it wasn't something I wanted to test out while I am 8 and half months pregnant. This one will have to wait, but I am certainly looking forward to it. This bottle has about 60 servings in it and each serving is about 17 mg of CBD. The reviews seem positive, but I'm wondering - has anyone here tried this brand before?

The Verdict

I loved the idea of this Essentials Crate because sleep is something I have always struggled with. The facial set was a fun way to get the night started and I think the cacao mix could grow on me, although I didn't notice a huge difference after just one drink. Either way, it was a nice routine for unwinding. I am really looking forward to using the CBD oil, but since it was what I would consider the "hero" item this month, this box ended up being a little bit lackluster for me personally since I couldn't take advantage of that main item. Value-wise though, I think we did okay considering the total came to $102! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

You should’ve passed the CBD on to someone else that could’ve tried it. What a disappointment.

I would have loved this box. Always happy to try new cbd and I like that cocoa for travel/camping. Not the best at home. Do they spoil it anywhere? I don’t see them on MSA.

It would be a great drink for traveling! I think I’ve been stuck inside so much these days that it didn’t occur to me! 🙂 I have not seen spoilers, and it doesn’t look like they keep up with their social media. 🙁

Brandi, I tried this very oil. The taste is very unpleasant, strong and “sharp” with long lingering aftertaste. Addition of black seed oil may be of benefit but definitely not for everybody’s liking (I personally can’t stand it). It IS full-spectrum with CBD, CBG & CBN + terpenes & has 0.6 mg of THC per serving (though it is under 0.3% legal limit, you’ll still test positive on a drug test) so don’t take this oil if you get drug tested at work. I’m a redhead(=need a horse dose of anesthesia to knock me out) & 2 full droppers (4 servings) did nothing for me in terms of sleep aid but my friend literally went “No-worries Hakuna Matata” from 1/2 dropper in 20 minutes, so I gifted that Batch Sleep to her.

Haha oh man! I wish I fell asleep as easily as your friend! I’ve only used black seed oil in skincare so I can imagine it is probably not the most pleasant taste. Thanks so much for sharing such a detailed review – I found it helpful and I’m sure others will, too! 🙂
