Allure Beauty Box is a $23 monthly beauty subscription from Allure Magazine. Each month they send out a mix of deluxe and full-size samples from mostly high-end brands. (It was named one of the best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers in the 2021 Subscription Box Awards.)

Occasionally, they release limited edition boxes like this Allure Feel Good Box. This box costs $80 for non-Allure Beauty Box subscribers while members pay only $40.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

First Impressions

All of the items  arrived in the familiar white and red Allure box.

Included was an info card with a note from Allure's Beauty Director.

Now, on to the items!

Bala Bands (set of 5) - Retail Value $17.00

I swear I am not trying to make this a gym-focused box, but this second item, a set of coil hair ties, is exactly what I use there. I wear my hair up in a messy and tight bun during my workouts because I can't stand my hair touching my sweaty neck. I have forgotten a hair tie before and legitimately just left the gym before because it is unbearable. Major props to the ladies and gents who show up and work out with their long tresses. I don't have it in me. These are great because they grab all of my unruly hair, keep it in place, and also don't leave behind pressure lines. This set is going in my locker just in case I forget a hair tie again one day.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $4.75 (buy 8 oz for $38.00)

I know Briogeo is such a fan favorite, but while I love how their formulas improve my hair's shine and manageability, I don't love the scent. It is too sweet for my nose. I have tried this mask before though, and as far as hair masks go, it's fab. Apply it to your ends (and roots if you are into that sort of thing), leave it on for at least 10 minutes, and BOOM: shiny, soft, healthy hair. This will be gifted to my mom as a stocking stuffer!

Laruce Three-Piece Eyebrow Grooming Set - Retail Value $30.00

I felt a little more into these brushes because they were an eyebrow-focused set and I am kind of into my eyebrows right now. That being said, this could have been something more exciting. Sure, I love the angled brush spoolie, and flatter brush for brow work. And I am kind of a brush hoarder. I just think this could have been something else that would have fit the theme of this box better.

Ettitude Sateen Eye Mask - Retail Value $18.00

This mask is exactly the sort of thing I expect in a box aimed at "feeling good". It is soft, cozy, and great for this time of year when the sun setting and rising is all out of wack and confusing for anyone with a sensitive nocturnal clock or even for those of us who work midnight shift or weird hours. Will is a great example of this because he works for a certain national carrier service, and, well this is GO time in that line of work. His hours are seriously messed up and he has to get his sleep during the day often in the holiday months. For that reason, I am glad this material is soft and the shade of this mask is a nice simple grey. Will has been "borrowing" this for the last week and I absolutely think it helps him get more quality sleep during the daylight hours.

Josie Maran Argan Beta-Retinoid Pink Algae Serum, 0.85 fl oz - Retail Value $68.00

Of course, I was super excited about this item. Give my face all the oils! I do think it is worth mentioning that this stuff has a slightly particular aroma. Argan oil can smell a little funky sometimes, in my experience and this is no exception. I kind of like the smell if I am honest! This oil goes on lightly and absorbs easily. Inside is a mix of argan, squalane, coconut, vegetable, moringa, and olive oil. It is worth mentioning that the coconut and vegetable oils have comedogenic ratings, but I will say that these oils are pretty far down the ingredient list which always makes me feel a little better about them. Also inside is retinol from pink algae which helps smooth fine lines and helps firm the skin. Is this my favorite oil of this sort? Nah. But I did like it.

Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream, 7 mL - Estimated Value $39.67 (buy 30 mL for $170.00)

I tried this item back in my May Allure box and here were my thoughts:

So this was maybe the more 'hype' brand this month, and with the high price tag and the rarity of it to be seen in boxes, I can see why. This is the richer version of their popular and pricy cream, and though I would never ever fathom spending this much on a cream, the ingredient list is actually really awesome, especially for those of us with drier skin. The combination of fatty oils (avocado, sunflower, argan, and evening primrose) with shea, hyaluronic acid, green tea extract, arginine, and peptides feels like a dream on dry and irritated skin. It also nourishes and protects skin by providing antioxidants, hydration, and supporting the production of collagen and elastin. A little goes a long way, so even though this tube is on the smaller end, it is going to last quite a long time.

I am glad to have another tube of this ultra $$$ yet long-lasting cream.

Pixi Rose Tonic , 3.4 fl oz - Retail Value $15.00

Pixi is just the cutest brand. And I love this tonic! If I could change anything, I wish there was a mist nozzle, because this toner is great spritzed onto bare skin or even on makeup to add a little dewiness. Inside is a mix of aloe, rose water, green tea, hyaluronic acid, and more. It has such a pretty and fresh true rose scent and slippery water texture. It absorbs in a snap, even when applied with fingertips or a cotton round. I found it very calming and a great layer between serums and creams at night.

Inked by Dani Nail Art Tattoos (1 sheet) - Retail Value $10.00

I am SO into nail art right now! And these cuties are delightfully nostalgic, with a very 00s vibe. My only issue is that my nails are so small that each of these takes up nearly my entire nail (though it's better on my thumb for sure). But that is probably not going to be an issue for most people. They are easy to apply too: simply cut your tattoo out, place it down on your clean and polished nail, wet the back paper, and slowly peel off. Just like the temporary tattoos of my youth! Be sure to cover with a top coat!

Verdict

This Allure Feel Good Box box has a total value of $208.41 which is pretty good for an $80 box, but way better for the $40 member price. I actually don't think this box has enough for the $80 price so I would recommend it more for Allure members who get the discount. I also think, when compared to other amazing Allure Limited Editions (this one and this one come to mind), this one doesn't have the same wow factor. I also think the theme here is pretty loose. So should you buy it? If some of these higher-priced items catch your eye, sure! And if you are a member? Even better.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Hey Monica! Thanks for reading. I fixed that line of copy. It was left over from the previous Allure limited edition box review (which I highly recommend!). Thanks for the catch!

I love that hair mask. I have extremely damaged, thin, fine, sad hair. I’ve been using that mask twice a week and it looks pretty great. I just picked up a Briogeo gift set to try some other products.

I love Pixi tonics and mists. I just finished the Jasmine and I’m starting on the Milky. The rest of the box is pretty meh. I’d never pay that much, even with the subscriber price.

Sorry, not sorry but most of this is inexpensive, made in China stuff that is seriously laughable when I look at the MSRP price. The bands, hair ties, mask and brushes are 25 cents on alibaba. The stickers are a couple cents. Not even worth $40.

I agree, the theme here is seriously loose. If a junk drawer could be a subscription box, this would be it (not to say the contents are junk, but that they just seem very random).
