What's Inside This Box
Honua Skincare Aloha Youth Serum - Retail Value $58
Honua makes some promising products meant to brighten, tighten and illuminate. Aloha Youth Serum is made using Hawaiian botanicals and a retinol alternative called bakuchiol, a more natural anti-aging and firming superstar. This serum feels amazing on the skin; it instantly sunk in and transformed my skin into a sheet of velvet. Unfortunately, there is a very potent fragrance to this serum that may be a deal-breaker. I have very sensitive skin, so I'm extremely wary when it comes to fragrance in skincare. If it were a fragrance that dissipated I'd probably give this a second thought, but it loiters on the face for way too long. I'll absolutely use this on my neck and chest, but I am a little bummed that this serum makes up 65% of this box's value.
Andalou Naturals Sunflower & Citrus Brilliant Shine Styling Gel - Retail Value $1.99
My hair has never benefitted from a gel, but you never know! I applied this to my damp hair this morning, and I admit I was surprised at my shiny mane. It brought out a little wavy texture in my hair, and it didn't flake or get crunchy, although I used it very sparingly. It has a really refreshing citrus smell that unfortunately doesn't linger.
The Kind Poppy London Fog Bar Soap - Retail Value $8.00
I am in love with this bar soap. Its scent is intoxicating and nostalgic, and it just reminds me of cozy autumn days and nights. Sigh. This soap creates a generous lather and hydrates while it cleanses. My skin felt moisturized enough that I could totally skip over lotion. The bar is pretty small for an $8 price tag, but it would be such a nice gift to give around the holidays.
Yes to Avocado Daily Cream Facial Cleanser, 1 fl oz - Listed Value $3.49 (buy a 4oz tube for $4.49
I am a ride or die cream cleanser fan, and this one is an excellent find. There is no fragrance, and it is formulated with hyaluronic acid so its ability to moisturize is no joke. You're left with brilliantly hydrated skin, without the filmy residue that some cream cleansers leave behind. This cleanser is great for sensitive skin, and it is cheap! It will not remove your makeup, but it works wonderfully as the second step in a double cleanse.
Folly Fire Astral Lip Gloss in Cosmic Energy - Retail Value $18.00
Looking for the perfect fall lippie? I don't usually follow the rules for switching up my makeup colors every season; I usually pride myself on being a little rebellious, but dang it, I really love this bronze lipgloss. It feels lovely on the lips, hydrating and thick but not sticky. The pink and bronze shimmer is beautiful, and I love the shine this gloss gives.
And it smells delightful, too!
October's Kinder Beauty Box had a few hits and a few misses. I love this subscription for its diversity in products which range from high-end obscure brands to drug store items. Most of this month's value comes from one item; this can be a really good or really bad thing. If you like it, that's great! If you don't like the product, then the other lower-cost items make this box seem like it wasn't the best value. Unfortunately for me, this item was not a great fit, but I am really happy with the other products I received. Folly Fire's lip gloss looks and feels great, and I also love the Yes to Avocado cleanser. I will still use the expensive serum on my body, so it isn't a total loss. This month’s box has a retail value of $89.48, triple the box's cost of $26.
