While subscribers are excited about JourneeBox's first spoiler for their Riviera Maya Box, many are still confused about the cancellation of the Nottingham box due to shipping issues.

[UPDATED 11/16, per Leo @ JourneeBox: “Apologies about the shift, due to logistics issues, some Nottingham items are being held at customs and we fear they would not make it in time. So we decided to shift to the Riviera box. Rest assured that the Nottingham box is not cancelled and will be the next box after the Riviera.”]

We wanted to pass along a letter from JourneeBox to explain more:

Hello Journeers,

We are writing to share some shipping updates and keep you in the know about our next Journee.

Likely, you've read the news making headlines around the world that supply chains are severely backed up - a hardship we are experiencing as your premiere global destination subscription. Sister brands that we cherish are also feeling the effects of this and we're seeing more Sold Out signs and waitlists than we've ever seen before heading into a holiday season.

We had planned on our next JourneeBox being a delightful exploration of Nottingham, a place near and dear to Founder Kevia Jeffrey-West and her family, who have lived in this charming city. Like many businesses navigating the ongoing pandemic back up, we started design and production orders early for Nottingham, but as a result of the collective effort for companies to get orders in, there is unprecedented supply chain congestion.

To give you insight, the beautiful blue and gold dragonfly boxes that we ship your treasures in have been sitting in the overrun port of Seattle for nearly three months. As of this writing, there has been no indication of where they are in line or when they will make their way to our fulfillment facilities. That is only one example of a product we put into production several months in advance that has gotten backed up - meaning it is just not possible to ship the Nottingham Box this season.

Therefore, a few weeks ago, we decided to rearrange our itinerary, moving up a destination we had planned for later in 2022 - a visit to the Riviera Maya in Mexico. We are working diligently to expedite the delivery of this gorgeous, historic region's Box so that we can take our Journee there with you as soon as possible. We are very excited to explore Riviera Maya with you, as Kevia spent time here during college and the cultural designs and colors traditional to the region are just so very lovely. We are working overtime to deliver your next Box and will have more details as production continues.

We appreciate your support, as we've heard from so many of you recently, bolstering us with your kindness, understanding and overwhelming love of JourneeBox. And rest assured, Nottingham will be waiting following Riviera Maya.

So still no additional info. Has anyone heard anything?

Nope. Makes me sad. This has been my favorite sub, but I don’t think I can recommend it right now.

I’m confused. I haven’t gotten a single email about updates at all and everyone says they’ve gotten emails about it.

The beautiful blue and gold dragonfly boxes would not be sitting in a port facility if they had been made on this continent. Just a thought. The machines and people needed are present here, too. You picked the wrong example, JourneeBox.

I get what you are saying. So many of the boxes in general have been delayed for so long. Our supplying chain issues would greatly be minimized if we went back to making more items here in America. We have the resources, we have the people, just make it in America and save on fossil fuels, less Pollution, wait times, and keeping the money here in the US.

Just playing devil’s advocate here, but I believe Boxwalla’s boxes are made in India, and they are like the coolest boxes ever (besides the point, I know). Glossybox’s masquerade boxes were/are held up at the ports as well.

I’m confused. Is the Nottingham box cancelled or just delayed to next year? Based on the last line of their email, I was under the impression that we would still be getting the Nottingham box eventually.

Hi Mary!
Sorry for the confusion–that is indeed the case. It seems the Nottingham box will follow the Maya Riviera box; in fact it will be the next one after it.

It’s postponed not cancelled. I submitted a comment earlier suggesting an update to the post title and first paragraph to “postponed” vs. cancelled for exactly this reason, but that comment doesn’t seem to have been approved. Who knows if this one will…

Hey Sherri, thank you for pointing that out for the headsup because yes, it is postponement and not a cancellation, as confirmed by Leo @ JourneeBox.

MSA – with all due respect, you may want to consider updating the title of this article to “JourneeBox News: Why The Nottingham Box Was Postponed” (and substitute “cancellation” with “postponement” in the first paragraph). Deferred/deferral works too. Anything noting it will come later, just not never. The title as it stands IMHO is misleading and confusing since the Nottingham box will still be sent (just next season) as per JourneeBox’s email, and not outright cancelled. Having previously received/read the email you shared, I thought this was something new based on the title. I know there were some people who were interested specifically in the Nottingham box, so I think a post update is important here. Thank you.
