Extended! Tarte Build Your Own Custom Kit: And Here Is What I Am Getting!

Every holiday season I always look forward to building my custom kit with Tarte, and luckily, they've extended this awesome sale! Let's talk about what I am picking in my kit and why I am excited for it.

foundation choices

Out of the seven items you can include in your kit, one of them is a foundation. I've tried most of the foundations Tarte has to offer, so today I am grabbing the Hydroflex Serum Foundation ($39). I've never tried it before, and I'm hoping it can help me achieve a "my skin but better" finish. There are 32 shades in this line (other foundations by Tarte offer more than 40), and I'm going with the shade Fair Beige, which is for fair skin with cool, pink, or rosy undertones.

After selecting my foundation, the next step lets me choose something for my eyes. There are a few eyeshadow palettes, eyeliners, and brow products available. I went with the Power Bar Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette ($19), because this is a new product from Tarte I have never tried, and it looks like it has a really pretty selection of nude shades for an everyday makeup look.

beige and pink tube of highlighter

The next step you're given the choices of blushes, concealers, bronzers, and finishing powders. I went with the Shape Tape Glow Wand in Sunbeam ($27) - I'm really curious on if this can be a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter that I use and love.

black and gold mascara tube

The fourth step is mascara. At this point I've tried every mascara Tarte has to offer, so I went with my favorite of the bunch: their Lash Paint mascara ($23).

pink lip balm in pink packaging

The fifth step is all about lips! Since I am going for a natural makeup curation with my bag, I picked the Maracuja Juicy Lip in the shade Strawberry ($19). I've tried this in the shade Rose thanks to my Ipsy Glam Bag Plus, and I love how comfortable this tinted lip balm is to wear while still getting a pretty flush of color.

purple and brown eye cream

The sixth step is a bit of a mish-mash. You can choose between a foundation brush or face sponge, or you have a wide array of skincare to choose from. I went with the Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment ($39), which I have never tried before and I'm really intrigued by.

The last step is your choice of makeup bag! Because of who I am as a person, I went with the ultra-sparkly Glam To Go Makeup Bag. This isn't available on the Tarte website anywhere else (other than this custom kit) that I can find, but the value of all of the products not including the makeup bag is $166 - that's more than $100 than the cost of my $65 bag (and it ships free too!).

If I have you interested, I don't blame you; this is a great way to stock up and get a full face of makeup products for a really reasonable price. Everything is shipped brand new in their individual boxes, so if you buy this for yourself and give a few items away for Hanukkah gifts or Christmas stocking stuffers, I won't tell.

Here's how it works:

Are you building your own custom kit? I would love to know what. And stay tuned for my review, where I'll try out my kit and let you know if the products lived up to my hopes and expectations.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I do wish one of the seven items wasn’t a make up bag though. I have so many of those, I’d rather choose something different.

Honestly the price is so good for how many products you get! I’ve always loved Tarte! I might have to invest in this as a Holiday treat to myself! 🙂

I grab one of these every time they are offered – despite not needing any of it, lol! I also got the power bar palette, the eye treatment, and the maracuja lippie. The first two are new to me – I’ll be interested in reading what you have to say about them. PS – I’m the opposite of you when it comes to glitter/sparkly, so I went for the classic (aka mundane) quilted bag pictured in the add.

Same here! I can’t help myself. The pep talk I gave myself the night before did not help bec I bought one anyway 🤷‍♀️. I got the maracuja lippie in my last box and I love it! I almost got another one this time but decided to try something new instead. I hope it was a good choice.

That quilted bag is so chic though! I can see why you picked it. I hope when the review is live we can reconnect in the comments about our box experiences 🙂
