First Impressions

Boxycharm always arrives with a cute card detailing all of the products inside and listed retail values.

Now, on to the items!

tarte Wink of H2O Vegan Collagen Eye Cream, 0.53 oz - Retail Value $36

As far as eye products go, this one has some of the big players I would hope to see inside anything with a quality formulation. Fatty oils, caffeine, vegetarian collagen (from coconuts), peptides, and antioxidants are all whipped together in a gel cream that is deceptively light for the heavy hitters inside. It has a texture that feels light and absorbs well, but certainly leaves behind hydration, which is the main point here. It also doesn't really have a fragrance of any sort. With winter coming up, taking care of your sensitive eye area is extra important (I HATE when it gets so cold that the corners of my eyes feel cracked) but you should also feel free to use something like this wherever you might need a little extra hydration, like the sides of your nose, etc.

Ace Beauté Falling for You Palette - Retail Value $34.99

I was expecting this palette to be beautiful, but the sheer pigment kind of floored me. I feel like bright mattes especially tend to look insane in the pan then perform poorly, but not these. Everything in here was ready to party. The autumn theme was well executed and this color story is one of those where you could totally do a less dramatic day look but also go pretty crazy later on, all without leaving the palette. The shades were all pretty decent with a brush, though I prefer a finger for the metallics for sure. And I liked how each row was kind of broken up into its own look if you want a little guidance: Rose Gold, Purple Berries, or pure fall goodness.

Treslúce Like An Artista Brush Set - Listed Value $27 (larger set here for $35.00)

Brushes are a tool that I probably don't need more of maybe for the rest of my life, but the cobalt blue handles here really won me over. They are so beautiful! And the matte finish is my favorite feel to makeup brushes. This set includes four eye-focused heads though you could also use them for highlighting smaller areas anywhere on your face.

Camara Aunique Beauty Mary Lashes - Retail Value $25

I very, very rarely wear false lashes, but if I do, I prefer a more natural set like these. Sure, they still bring the drama, but they also don't look like they will grab my eyebrows. The quality here was nice and the individual hairs (faux mink) are placed in a very natural-looking pattern that will flatter anyone.

APPEAL Adhesive Liquid Liner, 18 mL - Retail Value $29

Oh, look. A black eyeliner. This is always a boring item for me to find since I rarely wear eyeliner. I much prefer the softer crayon style that I can blend and make look a little less severe. OK FINE, I am always scared to mess up the second cat-eye. I hate that mess where you get one absolutely perfect then the second looks like you started sneezing when you drew it on. A lot of these negative feelings come from black liner subscription fatigue and a lot of it is just plain user error but if you love a sharp dramatic line I feel like this made you smile instead of giving you a weird left-eye-related anxiety.

ADDED 11/10 - MSA reader Julie B let me know this is also actually eyelash adhesive too! I totally missed that in the review.

Verdict

This month's BoxyCharm delivered a totally eye-centric curation and one of the most stunning fall palettes I have in my collection. Seriously, I swoon. Sure, the lashes and liner are mostly wasted on me because I am uncoordinated and also not at all glamourous, but hopefully some fancy folks out there are enjoying them. The tarte eye cream is a great moisturizing option for all eyes and the blue brushes are so gorgeous in person. All in all, the value here was about $152 which is quite nice for a $25 box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

OMG! THAT. PALETTE. IS. GORGEOUS. Those swatches are NO JOKE….I’ve really been wanting to try a liner-lash-adhesive. Hopefully I get the ‘right’ one!

Lol I thought you were saying the eye shadows were sheer and I was like wth that’s what she thinks is sheer?! Lmao I had to read it a few times to understand. It’s just one of those days, I blame it on new mom brain 😂

Megan, you do know that the black eyeliner is also an adhesive for the false lashes? Just in case you thought it was just another liner, no this is a liner with a purpose! I bought it in add-ons but have yet to try it. Sounds so much easier than fiddling with glue, though!

Oh, wow, no. I totally missed that part. I thought it would just stick really well to my eyelids 😂
I’ll add mention of this to the review! Thanks Julie B!
