Wantable Style Edit
2.5 overall rating
14 Ratings | 5 Reviews

Wantable is a monthly personalized style subscription box service that sends you seven expertly curated items based on an in-depth quiz.

In order to get your one-of-a-kind style box, you must first take an online quiz to narrow down your style preferences. Choose between three of Wantable's Edits: Women's Style, Women's Active, and Men's Active before beginning the questionnaire. The quiz asks a range of questions: what type of clothing do you wear, preferences on fabrics, patterns, colors, fit--everything you could think of to help define your personal style.

Once the quiz is complete, a stylist is assigned to your account and begins curating your Edit. Creating your Edit comes with a $20 styling fee, but that fee goes towards any items you decide to keep once you receive your box. You save 20% off everything if you keep 5 or more items. When you receive your box you'll have 5 days to decide what you want to keep for purchase and what you want to return. They also offer free returns and pick-ups.

This is a review of my personal "Women's Style" Edit.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

What I Got in This Month's Personalized Edit

Lenora Paperbag Capri in Khaki by Lila Ryan - Retail Value $89.00

Paperbag pants are a great style to level up your look for work or meeting up with friends for brunch. I was really excited to see my stylist had given me a pair of capri-length paperbag pants since they're the perfect color for fall and look a little more elevated than a pair of jeans. I personally love a high-waisted style since it's more flattering on my body shape, so these low-waisted capris did not end up being a winner for me.

Calvin Thermal Top in Sienna by Thread & Supply -Retail Value $49.00

As the temps get chillier every day in NYC, I was so happy that a few warm basics came my way. This thermal top is going to be a staple in my closet for fall and winter. I love the depth in this sienna color, it offers hints of brown, red, and even a hint of orange. This color will flatter so many skin tones and the thermal material is warm enough to wear on its own but also thin enough to cater to a layered outfit.

Animal Print Midi Skirt in Cream by Wishlist - Retail Value $54.00

How cute is this animal printed skirt?? I love these midi-length skirts to pair with a t-shirt and blazer or a sweater for the chillier fall days and the pattern on this one is perfect for making a subtle statement. The $54 price tag may feel a bit pricey for a skirt, but the material is quality and I loved that it's lined so I don't have to worry about remembering to wear nude underwear. The slit length is also great, it's enough to show some leg but not too long that a gust of wind threatens to blow the skirt too high. I'm definitely keeping this skirt since it will be great for the rest of fall and ready to come back out in the spring.

Puff Sleeve Textured Dress in Olive by Ces Femme - Retail Value $58.00

When I first took this dress out I must admit, I was hesitant about the style and the pattern. This dress screams boho and that's not really my style. The looser fit also had me worried since baggier fits tend to make me look a little more amorphous and I prefer to wear a more fitted dress to show off my curves. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the fit, it was way more flattering than I thought it would be. I think a lot of girls would love this for a fall day 'fit: just pair it with boots and a statement sun or floppy hat and you'll be all set.

Cashmere Mock Neck Sweater in Oatmeal by Fate - Retail Value $88.00

Another cozy staple I'll be adding to my cold-weather clothing lineup. I love cashmere sweaters for the wintertime and this oatmeal color is the perfect neutral. The mock neck is a cut I don't already have in my closet, which gives me another reason to keep it and play around with styling this sweater. I already love how it pairs with the jeans, kudos again to my stylist for making this perfect match.

Clip Dot Ruffle Top in Black by Skies Are Blue - Retail Value $69.00

The dot print of this blouse reminded me of the olive puff sleeve dress' pattern, which bummed me out a little because I expect versatility in each box. I wasn't crazy about the fit on me, it was a little big. The only positive was that its similarity to the dress pattern made it easier for me to choose one to send back. Despite this blouse not working for me, it's still a fun top that's perfect for work or for a day out with friends.

High Rise Button Fly Ankle Skinny in Med Blue by Flying Monkey Jeans - Retail Value $78.00

These jeans are a total yes for me in every way. I've mentioned this before in previous Wantable reviews, but they nail the denim category for me every time. I have thicker thighs and a smaller waist, so finding jeans that go up my legs and then fit my waist properly can be a major challenge. These jeans by Flying Monkey Jeans have just enough stretch in them that I can comfortably put them on and they wear nicely throughout the day, even as I may bloat a little after three meals! The distressing in this pair is ideal, it's got a lot of attitude but the holes aren't too big that my knees got cold. Quality jeans tend to be on the pricey side, to begin with, but I feel that $78 for this pair is reasonable considering how many times I've already worn them and how unique the distressing is.

Verdict

Overall, my experience with the Wantable Style Edit box is always a treat. It ships quickly and I love how thoughtful Alexandra's styling is based on my requests and quiz. Aside from the items in the box, I also love that they provide not only a shipping label to send items back, but also the packaging! I can't tell you how many times I've kept items I don't like simply because I couldn't be bothered to go to the post office and package up items (I know I'm not the only one!). They make it so easy for you to return unwanted items and exchanges are also a breeze.

This edit got me ready for early fall with some lighter options like the dress, blouse, and printed skirt; but, Alexandra also set me up for colder weather too with warmer options like the thermal top and cashmere sweater.

I feel the same way about the paper bag pants style! I think it looks so cute on everyone else, but I can’t bring myself to do a low rise. Did you think five days was enough time to decide what you wanted to keep?

Hi Michelle!
I think 5 days feels short but after trying on my items and looking at the prices, I get an idea which are my top contenders and which are going back. I love how much easier it is than shopping–you can look right into your closet and see if you have any items that will help complete the fit, which isn’t possible at the store!
