First Impressions

Everything arrived in our regular black box with a card detailing the items included.

Now, on to the items!

FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette in 'Smoky' - Retail Value $25

I remember when these launched at Sephora because they had the big display at the front and it showcased how you could buy multiple palettes and attach them together in some sort of wonderful eyeshadow book. It is still such a cool concept and the palettes alone have six coordinated shades for multiple looks. This is the "Smoky" set and it has two matte browns, a matte black, cool metallic, plum shimmer, and a really cool glitter. The first two mattes performed well, though I really thought the last shade Tan Linez was not great in terms of payoff. The shimmers both worked ok with a brush but much better with fingertips, and that glitter was by far the most exciting. It is a black matte base with blue and gold glitters. I don't think I was blown away with the shades and their payoff in general, but Fenty Beauty always brings the cool factor and I still loved trying this.

Top to bottom: That Deep?, Chestnutz, You up?, Second Date, Patti Cakez, Tan Linez.

tarte Glowtion Skin Perfector Primer, 40 mL - Retail Value $32

This is going to be a product that subscribers either love or hate and I think that depends on how you feel about a super dewy finish on your face. Me? I am into it. I am also dry and I like adding a sheen that makes my skin look less matte. The texture feels like a gel and the result is hydrated skin (thanks to squalane and glycerin), less redness (niacinamide), and a radiant champagne shimmer (mica). I wore this under my BB cream and loved the look, though it solo on my face is a bit too much "dew".

Herbivore Blue Tansy BHA and Enzyme Pore Refining Mask, 2 oz - Retail Value $48

I loved this mask! Sure, it is runny as heck and requires a little bit of babysitting to keep in place, but the ingredients are awesome! The first things that jumped out at me were the fruit enzymes from papaya and pineapple. I used a powdered version of both of these ingredients applied with a brush during the exfoliation part of one of my facials and they are wonderful for gently removing dead skin without causing irritation. This mask also has calming blue tansy (and smells very strongly of it), willow bark, and hyaluronic acid. I applied this in a thin layer with a fan brush and let it sit for 10 minutes before gently washing it with lukewarm water. It left my face feeling smoother with less redness. Because it takes so little of this stuff to cover the face, this pot should last a long time!

Beauty Bakerie Milk & Honey Highlighting Palette, 8 g - Retail Value $38

Beauty Bakerie is such a cute brand and I always look forward to seeing them in a box. This honey-themed highlighter palette is adorable! Each of the pans is oversized and the packaging has a cute gold honeycomb pattern. The four shades inside are all stunning and SO buttery. There is a pale pink, champagne, bronze, and soft honey. These are a dream applied with a large fluffy brush or you can apply them with fingertips or a smaller brush for a more precise application. This is one of those palettes that just makes you smile whenever you open it.

Top to bottom: Oh Honey, Queen Bee-ing, Spoiler Alert, Bee Sweet.

Comples Culture Sonic T-Bar Facial Massager - Retail Value $58

I actually already have one of these from an IPSY X delivery, but since the two brands have merged, I am not totally surprised. Here were my thoughts then:

I am weirdly into face "tools" and I have wanted one of these t-shaped massagers for awhile. It feels like a more tech-focused alternative to a Gua Sha because while it has that same sort of firm edge, it also has vibrations that feel incredible on all those little facial muscles we so often ignore. I love using this before bed with a facial oil. The whole thing feels like an incredible treat and the oil feels like it absorbs better somehow with the vibrations. And that tension I hold between my brows feels so much more relaxed. This does require an AA battery, so steal one from your remote if you have to!

Since I already have one of my own, this will be a gift to my mom, who is equally into facial tools!

Hey Honey Trick & Treat Lip Balm Berry Balm with Natural Tint, 15 mL - Retail Value $23

My final item is a really nice little tube of lip balm with a sheer berry tint and flavor. Not a ton to report here but it added enough color to my lips to be flattering, left my lips feeling great, and smelled nice. What more can I ask for?

Verdict

The total value of my BoxyCharm Premium box was $224 which is a great value for a $35 box. And there were some real winners in here, specifically the Herbivore mask (worth significantly more than the box cost itself), Beauty Bakerie Palette, and the Fenty shadows. (Sure, they could have had more pigment, but I still absolutely love them). I also liked the balm and the tarte primer. My mom is going to love her new tool too! This box might not have had the instant WOW factor of some other deliveries, but the contents inside still really delivered.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
