BeautyFIX is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box from Dermstore.com. This subscription box includes a variety of items: makeup, haircare, skincare, etc., but skincare items are the most prevalent.

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

This was my first-ever BeautyFIX Box, and I was very interested to see what the Dermstore experts would put together for this month. Aesthetically, the box looked beautiful. Initially, some of the samples looked very small to me, but there were definitely more higher-end brands than you would receive in other sample-heavy subscriptions. The only thing I would change is the lack of a product card, but I understand, since a lot of companies are beginning to list the included products on their site to avoid waste.

Now, on to the items!

Yon-Ka Paris Skincare Glyconight 10% Masque, 5 ml - Estimated Retail Value $8

This gave me glowing, bouncy, and smooth skin! I may have choked a little when I saw the price tag, but this sleep masque made such a visible difference that I would love to repurchase... If I ever win the lottery, lol. The product has a light pleasant scent and goes on so silky smooth. I applied the masque at night before bed. It soaked into my skin, leaving me with a visibly brighter complexion in the morning.

Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother, 20 ml - Estimated Retail Value $5.60

I really appreciate the size of this sample. There is enough product for someone with a lot of length or volume to get one or two uses out of. It is super lightweight and didn’t weigh down my curls at all. After shampooing and conditioning, I applied from mid-length to the ends of my hair where my ghastly quarantine dye job is growing out. My hair was noticeably less frizzy and felt soft and hydrated.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment, 5 ml - Estimated Retail Value $14.17

Sunday Riley products have always had a very complicated relationship with my skin. I don’t know what it is, but the products from this brand always irritate my skin. I don’t understand... Everyone is always raving about this amazing product line that doesn’t work for me! It’s given me major FOMO. But since I had yet to try the Good Genes treatment, I decided to risk it all, and wow! This stuff is fabulous. My skin felt incredible after just one application. My face was glowy, smooth, and buoyant. There is a slight tingling sensation after application, which I don’t mind. I did experience some redness the next day but I plan to use this treatment for a few consecutive days and see how it goes.

Sunday Riley JUNO Antioxidant + Superfood Face Oil, 5 ml-Estimated Retail Value $12

Now, this product did not work for me at all. I have more oily skin and an oily T-zone, and this face oil was a bit too THICC for my face. I also found it irritated my skin. I will have to pass this product along to one of my Sunday Riley-loving friends, of which there is no shortage. The oil definitely has a distinct earthy smell that I wouldn’t choose to smell on purpose, but it dissipates quickly as the product absorbs into the skin. If you have dehydrated skin, this incredibly moisturizing product may just be your hallelujah.

Eminence Organic Skin Care Pumpkin Latte Hydration Masque, 15 ml - Estimated Retail Value $13

I am more of a sheet mask girl myself but ‘tis the PSL season,’ so why not have a masque to match. I was not disappointed. The scent was absolutely divine, like a delicious piece of warm pumpkin pie baked with love. Now, this masque is no joke. I found it to have an intense tingle, so I rinsed it off at the five-minute mark. My skin felt very moisturized but sensitive after use.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer, 30 ml - Retail Value $45

I am shocked. This velvety cream-based primer gives me smooth, even coverage under my foundation without making me feel like I have a thick film on my face. The product reduced the appearance of my dark spots and large pores. It is lightweight and has a nice texture. But what I really love is the oil control. I have oily skin, so about halfway through the day, I tend to look shiny... And not the nice light-bouncing-off-the-highlighter-on-my-cheekbones shiny. No, your girl looks straight up greasy. This primer kept my face from looking like an oil spill and my makeup in place for longer.

Verdict

I was really impressed by the quality of products in this month's BeautyFIX Box. It was a parade of high-end brands. I love how effective the Dr. Brandt's primer is, and I like that it is full size. The Sunday Riley treatment and face oil, though they may not work for me, are a great addition to this month's box. Both are high-end, quality products that bring value to the box. A pleasant new brand/product to me was the Yon-Ka Paris Masque. I’m very happy with the glow it brought to my complexion. I also enjoy the delicious fall-themed scent of the Eminence Organic Pumpkin Latte Masque. Lastly, the Olaplex smoother not only gave enough of a sample for my massive head of hair but also the product earned its stripes by combating my frizz. Overall, I think this box brought a lot of value to the table while giving subscribers a taste of luxury.

In response to the gal with sensitive skin. I too have sensitive skin but have found Sunday Riley products break me out with tons of little bumps and ruined my face. Don’t know why but I’ve only had that with this brand. I thought I’d share this with you all! Lots of ppl have the same problem as I mentioned, google reviews!

This box is so ridiculous now!! OMG those are super crudy little samples, so glad I cancelled I think a year or two ago. Once they started get cheap on us I said goodbye! In 2017 this box was really good!! I can get these miniscule samples for free at Neiman Marcus lol. One full size, no thanks. I’m sure I can buy it for $5-10 on eBay! This is sad, it was the only box I used to get excited about. I feel like all the subscription boxes are getting super crappy now! I cancelled all my subscriptions. will save my money to spend it elsewhere

The YON-KA PARIS SKINCARE item is cheaper than the Sunday Riley products, though, right? I guess I don’t really understand the comment about the price tag.

I’m not into the whole PSL thing (way WAY too much sugar,) but that mask sounds divine. 🎃

I can relate to having sensitive skin, too, so I’m glad you mentioned that with Sunday Riley (which I have wanted to try!) I’m going to give this one a go since you said your skin did well!
