Welcome to our monthly post highlighting our favorite discoveries from a variety of books, beauty, food subscriptions – and more. Here are our favorite subscription box items from August 2021:
Megan & Sanna's Favorite:
The Item: Dose & Co. Pure Collagen
The Cost: $24.99
From: FabFitFun
Why Megan loves it: I like to add collagen to my morning protein shake to help my hair, nails, and joints. While it might be a placebo (who really knows) I swear this stuff helps me with sore joints after a daily workout!
Why Sanna loves it: I don’t know if collagen supplements are the real deal but postpartum hair loss definitely is! I guess it makes sense if you go nine months without a single hair falling from your head that it’s going to catch up with you at some point. I’ll take any help I can get right now and I’m hoping that this supplement will help strengthen my hair and slow down the shedding. If nothing else, the powder is extremely fine, so it dissolves into my morning coffee really easily. And it’s really convenient that it can be mixed into cold or hot drinks.

Naomi & Brandi's Favorite:
The Item: Cold Brew Coffee Maker by Primula
The Cost: $29.99
From: Bespoke Post
Why Naomi loves it: I need coffee — and this is the simplest and quickest way for me to make my own delicious smooth cold brew at home. It literally takes three minutes to prep in the evening and is ready to go in the morning. With how chaotic the world and life are right now, I just need my morning caffeine fix to be easy and simple.
Why Brandi loves it: As a mom, I have learned that coffee gets cold very quickly when you forget about it for a myriad of reasons, so now with this cold brew coffee maker I can brew my coffee cold and finally enjoy it that way! It was incredibly easy to make coffee with this contraption with the hardest part being the 24-hour wait until I could actually taste it, but when I did, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. I can’t wait to experiment with some fun fall drinks!

Becca's Favorite:
The Item: Kimchi and Soy Sauce Crackers
The Cost: Buy a pack of 6 for $4.80
From: Universal Yums
Why I love it: As much as I love sweets, this month I preferred a saltier snack as my favorite of the month. Smothered in a warm and sweet “glaze,” these spicy pickled cabbage crackers hit all of my favorite flavor notes, leaving me wanting more.

Jessica's Favorite:
The Item: MZ Skin Soothe and Smooth Collagen Activating Eye Complex
The Cost: $143
From: Skinstore Expert’s Choice Limited Edition Bag
Why I love it: This eye cream is an experience from start to finish- I love the pink and gold packaging of this small pot of loveliness, and the eye cream inside has been fantastic for me. I don’t normally have strong feelings about eye creams, but this one has been gentle, hydrating, and nourishing without making my eyes burn (a common issue I experience when I apply skincare close to my eyes). This is hugely pricey and I would never be able to afford it on its own, but isn’t that one of the big reasons we love subscription boxes and limited edition curated sets?

Carol's Favorite:
The Item: Once There Were Wolves
The Cost:$14.99 per month
From: Book of the Month
Why I love it: I was in a bit of a reading funk this summer until I saw Brandi’s review and I had to read Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy. The book was full of tension, suspense, romance, and set in a location that I found super intriguing. I could not put down this book until I finished it and I look forward to reading more from the author in the future.

Abby's Favorite:
The Item: Owl in a Towel Hand Sanitizer
The Cost: $4.95
From: Kinder Beauty Box
Why I love it: I know, I know… Everyone is so sick of hand sanitizer. Even its name makes me want to cringe, especially when I think of the OG clear, astringent gel that stings and dries out my hands. Luckily for everyone, beauty companies have been stepping it up in the sanitizing department. Kinder Beauty sent out Owl in a Towel’s Bergamot sanitizer, and I am blown away at the difference. Glycerin prevents the alcohol from drying out my hands, and I am obsessed with the herby citrus scent. I don’t mind slathering this on a few times a day, and I will absolutely be repurchasing!
