MEL Science is targeting medically-minded teens aged 14 and up with a brand new subscription: MEL Med.
Each new box, which can be pre-ordered today, offers up to five science projects, real tools and a virtual hospital experience where you can "treat" patients in pre-recorded interviews.
"From dentistry and surgery to pharmacology and electrocardiography, our new subscription is packed with experiments," says the brand. "It’s the most comprehensive subscription we’ve ever released. Quite a few tools were designed and produced from scratch especially for MEL Med, and many others are exactly the same as professionals use in their daily routine."
With the new MEL Med kit subscription, teens can try out surgical techniques with a scalpel, learn to take and understand their own cardiogram, check their blood pressure and learn to use a stethoscope. They'll also make a dental cast out of their own jaw and learn how to "treat cavities using a dental drill and UV light."
Any teen interested in a medical career will gain the following vital skills to use in the real world:
- Familiarity with simple surgical procedures.
- Defining, pronouncing, and spelling key medical terms.
- Making basic physiological observations and recording them appropriately.
- Scrubbing up for surgery.
- Performing venipuncture.
- Carrying out a urine multi dipstick test.
- Recording and interpreting the electrical activity of the heart.
- Learning and practicing emergency measures for choking.
How much is the MEL Med Box? The box costs $69.90 per month. If you pre-order now, you'll be charged for your first box at checkout and subsequent charges will happen starting January 2022.
