Allure Beauty Box July 2021 Review

This handy booklet has all the product info inside.

Here are all of the shades. That second matte is especially gorgeous.

Able Skincare Retexturing and Resurfacing Duo Moisturiser, 50 mL – Full Size! Retail Value $132.00

FYI: The packaging of our tube is a little different than if you purchase this item from the site.

I am not familiar with this brand at all so this impression truly is from scratch. This cream has a SUPER long ingredient list. It was actually a lot to wade through! The good? Tons of ceramides, niacinamide, lactic acid, hyaluronic acid, and so many more ingredients that are wonderful for gentle exfoliation and fortifying your skin's moisture barrier. The "bad" was mostly fragrancing ingredients which isn't something that bothers me personally. I like scented products! But there are a lot of people out there who don't or find they irritate their skin. In reality, we should all be spot testing any new skincare formula on our wrists but even I don't do that. If you are fragrance sensitive though, maybe do that with this cream. I liked the floral creamy scent and I also enjoyed the medium weight of this cream. If you are on the dry side, you can absolutely use this as a day cream, or if you lean a little combo or oily, it's a good option for the evening. I found that it absorbs easily and feels weightless on my (dry) skin, leaving behind a soft finish and an overall refreshing feel to my face. Would I pay the retail for this stuff? No way. But that is why we subscribe to subscription boxes, right?

Acure Brightening Vitamin C Jelly Mask, 0.25 fl oz- Estimated Value $5.00 (buy a full-size 1 fl oz bottle for $19.99)

I have always felt that, much like Juice Beauty, Acure's formulations just aren't designed with my drier skin in mind. But, like, LOOK at this pink jelly! It is so cute. Sure, this pot is tiny, but it will get the job done for a few masking sessions. I am really on the fence about the scent. It smells like the numbing gel they use at my dentist's office which is a very weird and super specific reference, so my apologies. The squishy gel was instantly cooling on my face and downright refreshing. Next time I am going to store it in the fridge for even more post-summer sun refreshment. The ingredient list was also impressive. In fact, there was nothing in here that I didn't love. For all of my C E FERULIC fans out there, this $20 mask has many of those same ingredients: ascorbic acid (vitamin C), ferulic acid, hyaluronic acid, and panthenol. The orders vary, but I bet you might like this too. And for $20, it might end up being a mask version of your fave serum. I was pleasantly surprised by this stuff and I think I will be buying the full size myself.

La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum, 3 mL - Estimated Value $3.00 (buy a full size 30 mL for $29.99)

This is the third brand in this month's box that would normally make me yawn a little, but after the other two being such hits, I am willing to keep an open mind here. Alcohol denat is the third ingredient here, which is a deal-breaker. I know, I know, it doesn't negatively impact everyone's skin, but in my personal experience, it isn't ideal for my face. If you have oilier skin or have never had an issue with this alcohol, you are likely going to feel different, and that is ok. Aside from that, there are some winners on this ingredient list: panthenol, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E. This gel does have a great slippy texture that feels nice and refreshing on my skin.

Winky Lux Uni-Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil - Full Size! Retail Value $16.00

While I don't think this pencil is actually universal (that would be so hard to pull off!) it does come pretty close! The wedge-shaped tip is great for flicking on natural little "hairs" and filling in thinner spots. I think the reason this shade will work for so many people is that it is on the cooler end and it is super buildable. Blonde? Use a super light hand. If you have darker hair, more pressure will take this from subtle to dramatic really fast. The pencil also has a built-in spoolie to help you blend the color with your brows and shape them at the same time. I am more of a gel brow gal, but I enjoyed this pencil a lot and will totally reach for it often.

You can see how this shade could really work for a wide variety of people.

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Smooth Shampoo, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $1.30 (buy a full size 11.5 oz for $15.00)

NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Smooth Conditioner, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $1.30 (buy a full size 11.5 oz for $15.00)

New members will receive this item. Renewing members may receive Crabtree & Evelyn Spiced Honey Bath Syrup, Evelyn Rose Luscious Shower Milk, or NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner duo depending on their membership history.

NatureLab Tokyo is a brand I really do like! I am not someone who generally gets too amped up for shampoo, but this brand makes one that smells good, cleans without drying, and is super affordable. The scent is one of my favorites because I am crazy for anything Yuzu! It is a Japanese citrus variety that is similar to an orange but more complex and a little spicy. And while you can't tell from the sample tubes, the packaging of the full size is also incredibly cool looking. Always happy to see this brand in a box. It's a good one.

Verdict: This Allure box has a total value of around $182.60 which is great for a $23 box. Most of the value is tied up in the Able cream so that might be a big deciding factor for some subscribers on how they felt this month. I personally liked it and found that along with the palette and Acure mask, this ended up being a curation I liked a whole lot more than I would have expected. I also enjoyed the brow pencil and NatureLab minis!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Wait a minute. The ingredients printed on the tube of moisturizer above and the ingredients list for the product on the website are totally different. The website lists a bunch of peptides and ferments, among other things, which are apparently not in the product featured in the box. So did they reformulate, and the tube is old stock; or are they doing something even worse than 111Skin, which would be making a completely different product but giving it the same name to put in subscription boxes? Or does the tube have an inaccurate ingredients list?

Hi there. New here. I am a current Allure box subscriber. I’d like to get the August box for NEW members. Can I get a second sub, or should I cancel my current sub and re subscribe? Thanks for any tips!

When I search for acure Jelly mask, I see women with skin burns, the mask has been pulled from Acures site.y’all are like, it’s just like ce ferulic, when in fact it has injured women.

When I search for Able Skincare, I am mostly seeing the brand on resale sites (where some people are asking near retail for it lol) and Nordstrom Rack.

I only saw it on amazon for like $8. It’s the main reason I skipped the box, what a trash product

The smell of that Acure mask is a lot like that fancy vitamin C serum.

I generally like LaRoche Posay products, so the serum is okay. I was also surprised by the brow pencil. I have naturally thick eyebrows that are beginning to fade with age, so after using this, I could see why other people like brow products so much.

I got the Crabtree & Evelyn rose shower milk, and while I love rose pretty much everything, I would have preferred the bath syrup because the fragrance sounded interesting.

Thank you for the thorough information on each product! I skipped this box but received it any way. I’ve said this before but I think it’s worth repeating; the inability to control our subscription from our end is a huge negative. I don’t like having to call and I don’t like the emailing either because more often than not I get back a response that makes no sense. I also wish they would stay away from ridiculously priced products. It’s kind of insulting to think any tube of moisturizer is worth that much. Which brings us to August and another exorbitantly priced moisturizer (day cream, sorry.) I’ll be skipping again but I know that doesn’t mean much with an Allure subscription.

I agree that we should be able to just click on a button and skip a month. It’s an easy add to a website design. I understand what you’re saying about the ridiculously high priced items but for me that’s part of the fun, I get to try these absurdly priced products that I would never buy or have the opportunity to try otherwise. It’s a delightful little treat just for me lol.
