Enchanted Crystal of the Month May Review
First, you'll see a greeting from Adam of Enchanted Crystal. I love these personal notes as they explain behind-the-scenes details.
Our specimen this month is Hyalite Opal!
FYI: This piece is a little under 2 inches long.
I happen to be a huge opal fan. It all started with episode 5 of the tv show Gem Hunters. Sure, this one is maybe a little less impressive than some, but opal rough is often rather uninspiring before it is cut. This piece actually looks like some sort of bubbly water that has been frozen in time. While it might not be the most dramatic opal specimen, it is endlessly interesting to peer at up close. I might need to invest in a UV light because according to the info card, this type of opal glows a neon green under it!
Enchanted Crystal always sends bonus crystals or minerals in a small bag as well.
Good to Know: These are smaller and about an inch or less long.
Red, Blue, and Gold Calcite
I also really love calcite because it looks like tumbled glass or magical ice chips. This month I received three different colors: red, yellow, and blue. I think my favorite is the yellow because it is an almost spherical shape that is really fun to hold and move around in the light. The blue is that perfect sky blue shade and the red feels a little more abstract and painterly.
Verdict: This month's Enchanted Crystal was such a cool piece. I really adore opal and since it can be a sort of stone that is expensive to add to a collection, this interesting blue piece is a welcome addition to my assortment. I don't usually end up with three of the same sort of stones for my bonus minerals, but calcite is always a big hit with me so I was pretty pleased.
