Please someone explain to me why they are choosing to send lip balm in the summer? They will be shipping when it is blazing hot, and all we will have is melted goo all over everything!

Wonk. Wonk. I sincerely regret doing a double annual this past fall, as I’ve skipped TWO boxes in a row now.

What a sad mess this company has become, I used to look forward to this box, but now I can’t wait to get it over with. It just keeps getting worse.

I NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE FROM ALLTRUE OR CAUSEBOX PLEASE HOW DO WE CONTACT ONE TO GET A CREDIT OR SOMETHING FIXED THAT IS DOUBLE CHARGED FOR??? CONCERNED CUSTOMER!!

Reply ButtonReply

Connie

Consider taking it up with your credit card company. You should dispute the charge if you are being charged for something you’re not receiving.

I’m so glad I skipped this box…even though I don’t know that the next box will be any better. I kept waiting for the “Hero item” and….if there is one, it was completely lost on me. I’m SHOCKED they didn’t try to make this box great since they are rebranding. I figured they’d go all in on this box, so they’d entice new subscribers, but…uh….in my opinion, they just scooped up a bunch of random stuff and tossed it in a box. There’s even repeats! I wish them luck with their new flag business, but as soon as my subscription is done, I’m out.

“I wish them luck with their new flag business” – LOLOLOL!

I went with a mostly kitchen-oriented box since the Summer items like the towel, cooler and hammock will get here when Summer is almost over. But I must say, I don’t know that I would have spent $50 on those mixing bowls and dishcloths (the other items hold no value for me). I’m hoping I manage to get $200 worth of goods by the time my annual ends, but I’m kind of doubting it since they really seem to be going in a cheaper direction.

Oh gosh! I’m taking my two daughters to Hawaii in a few weeks. I have lip balm on their list of things to pack for the plane in case of dry lips on that long flight (10 hours plus a layover from here). Of course I won’t have this box until September, but it would be so perfect.

Alexa

LOLing at “won’t have this box until September.” No lies detected!

Yay! I love lip balm with SPF

I am a little confused..

“For the sixth product in their Summer 2021 box, all annual subscribers will receive a Hawaiian SPF 15 Lip Trio designed by Hanalei Company exclusively for Alltrue. (No need to choose; the lip trio will be automatically included in all members’ boxes.)”

I am a seasonal/occasional subscriber.. Does this mean that JUST the annual subscribers get the lip trio and the seasonal don’t get these or is that a misprint? Or does the annual people get three while the seasonal get one random lip balm?

Reply ButtonReply

Kim

Guess only Annual’s get it. I didn’t get mine. My box was a complete waste of time. I tried to get mine canceled, but the little buggers at Alltrue got my money for summer anyway. Trust me. Last box ever. That’s it, I am done!!!

Selin

I believe summer hasn’t shipped yet though…?!

Rebecca

Everyone gets the three-piece lip balm set. Annual subscribers get to pick from all five other categories, while quarterly subscribers don’t get to pick at all, but this is the one item that every single box will have.

zo

I just spent $45 on my favorite lip balms (green + lovely) but I’m happy to have more!

Reply ButtonReply

Molly

The shipping times on this subscription are terrible. Who wants a Summer box at the end of summer?

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

I agree, but summer doesn’t begin until June 20, and the end of summer doesn’t hit until late September, so they’re timetable is actually not that far off. The problem is more that schools have started ending earlier in spring and starting back while we’re still well into summer, so a lot of us would get more use out of the products if the box shipped in late May.

Reply ButtonReply

Alice

Amy, summer begins every year on June 20, the equinox, in the northern hemisphere. It’s when daylight is longest. The daylight begins to get shorter after as the Earth rotates away from the sun NH begins the shift to cool down.

Molly

I consider June, July, August Summertime. And I agree with Amy that you want to have these items at the earliest so you don’t end up buying. Like, for instance, I bought a guess bag and a week later Curateur dropped spoilers and theirs is essentially the same bag. Although guess did a MUCH better job with it. Curateur isn’t usually “late,”though. The worst offender, by far, is Causebox. I love how they changed their name and a few things… but nothing that would benefit subscribers. No new customization, no better products, no better mission, no better customer service, no better shipping times, no better perks ( like the mag that now you have to pay extra for) and no better value. WTH are they doing for us? Letting us buy a box full of stuff we can’t choose, that we didn’t get a deal on and won’t receive until months out. This box is a scam! The end.

Amy

Boxes should definitely go by useful season, not by calendar season. Plus I thought summer started May 21st?

IMO a box should ship in anticipation of the season, like summer boxes that have towels and sunglasses and such should be shipping mid to late spring so that subscribers would get those items in lieu of having to buy them for the season.

FabFitFun once sent me gloves, which I needed a new pair of that year, in late December. Problem was that it started getting cold/freezing in October. It was fine to have a spare, but I could’ve saved a few bucks if boxes shipped things when people needed them not after the fact

Carly

I really dislike these balms. They do not hydrate lips at all. This will be a donate or Chuck out item for me.

Ipsy has been sending these for years. I expect more from causebox. I guess, alltrue is a rebrand for the worse 🤦🏻‍♀️

I wish they would bring back the offer of $150 for the first year! I’ve been tempted to sign up before, but never quite understood how the boxes worked and the price was a bit high for that. At this price, I think I could justify it and I’d do a year so that I can customize everything! I do not like the new name, but I do like that annual members get to pick everything (so long as they follow through with the products!).

Reply ButtonReply

Cynthia

You have to wait for the $25 boxes to be available to get the $150 deal. I think they call them intro boxes. CB does not give the full seasonal boxes out for free just these $25 intro boxes. You then get 3 more full-size seasonal boxes.

Reply ButtonReply

Lil

Thank you & Jessica for the comments. I will keep my eyes peeled and hope for a deal (assuming I like the boxes until then)!

Jessica

That’s not entirely accurate. It is a much more common promotion to get the smaller, cheaper intro box free with an annual. But Causebox has sometimes offered 4 full boxes for the price of 3, such as Black Friday last year. Who knows what promos Alltrue will run going forward, though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Jennifer

I already own some Hanelei balms, so it will be interesting to see how the vegan SPF versions compare.

Overall the box is a little disappointing – I’ll probably still get it though, rather than skip, as there are a couple decent categories (I want the towel and hammock, especially) and SPF lip balms are useful for summer.

On Instagram they did say they would avoid having so many skincare only categories going forward, so that’s something.

moposh

This is the only thing in the box I liked. I skipped this season. I hope next season is better.

Chantel

Unfortunately this is not coral reef safe which is very disappointing for a company based out of Hawaii. I know they changed the name but I sure wish they’d worry more about the “causes” they do and don’t support. And this being a non choice makes it work as you are forced to support a company who isn’t worried about the health of the ocean.

Reply ButtonReply

Mel

Sadly they’re not even Hawaiian the company is based in New York so that might be why they gave no thought to the reefs!

Reply ButtonReply

Reeb

I can only use reef-safe products while I’m actually at a reef, because they don’t protect me from the sun at all.

BB

Yikes! That’s terrible! I am also disenchanted by Causebox/Alltrue straying from the inclusion of products with real causes behind them.

Reply ButtonReply

Lynn

If the ingredients that HL listed are correct, then you can relax, because none of those are sunscreen. Of course, then the SPF 15 claims are false and you are at risk of skin cancer. I’ve come across plenty of “natural” beauty products that claim to have SPF (from raspberry seed oil or some other untested ingredient) and that is missing the drug facts label. Would be interesting to know if this has actual SPF or if it’s just lip balm.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

Which ingredients?

It is true their version is slightly different from the website version – namely they replaced the beeswax for plant-based calendula oil. It’s also unclear what they added to get the SPF15.

But I’m not familiar enough with what is/isn’t reef safe to make a call. Calendula should be reef safe.

Reply ButtonReply

Rainy

Thanks Lily. Good to know. That’s what I get for listening to Jennifer. Just kidding! 😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣

Lily

This reply is for Rainy, not sure why it wouldn’t let me direct a reply to that post.
Candelilla wax (not calendula) is actually more expensive than beeswax, and trickier to formulate with. Generally companies use it when they want to be strictly vegan, since beeswax involves bees!

Rainy

Wow they can’t even source the cheapest sub box item of all time… lip balm, that has real beeswax???? Give me a break. They make a few extra pennies but, lose their credibility??? I love checking these Causebox posts. I’m always amazed that they’re at it again, and again. They should’ve changed their name to All BS. 😂🤣😂🤣😂😂

Vic

which ingredient (s) are not reef safe? I could not find anything on the ingredient list to suggest that.

Reply ButtonReply

Shadr

The ingredients for the box version are different than the ones on the website. The box version is vegan and includes three forms of sunscreen. People are upset it’s not reef safe but an application of lip balm isn’t enough to cause worry, just use due diligence and don’t wear it when you’re in a sensitive ocean area.

HL

I looked at the ingredients and couldn’t determine which ingredients were not reef safe. It doesn’t appear to contain mineral oil or any other non-reef safe ingredients. What is the offending ingredient?

Reply ButtonReply

HL

Island Mint: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui) Seed Oil, Mixed Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Organic Ingredient.
Tropical Citrus: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui) Seed Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Peel Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Mixed Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Organic Ingredient.

Jenny

In addition to the rebrand, did the company change ownership or something? This box feels really different. Everything this season seems lower quality, lower value, less unique, etc. And to start shipping a Summer box in July?!?! So we won’t see these “summer” things until mid august? I’ve had my complaints about shipping before but this seems more extreme. I’ve been burned before on using the marketplace for gifts and didn’t bother even looking this time. With a 8-12 week turnaround time any slight cost savings is pointless. I’ve really loved this box over the years and sad to see the slip.

Reply ButtonReply

Emily

I totally agree, the box has a completely different feel to it. I’m glad that this is my last box.

Reply ButtonReply

Katie

Also, it seemed that the market items increased in number and the prices were not as good as in the past.
I agree. The Causebox I loved seems different now.
